MLB offseason thread

For those of you that know MLB and players, question. Is Willy Adames good enough to play at a high level for most of the rest of his career to make the HOF? Is he on a path to the HOF?

He’s 30 years old with 180 HR’s and 1 100 rbi season and mostly average stats for the rest. I don’t think so.

Bregman and Bo Biscuit looking for too much? Why have they not been signed

If they have Boras for an agent, they'll sign in February before Spring Training.  Boras wants as many of his guys, as he can, on the market when almost no one is left so that the supply would be low and demand be high.

I don’t see how he doesn’t get 400 ABs at minimum next season unless he’s a total bust. Although knowing this organization they will sign an Alex Verdugo type

Based on what's happened with the Pirates this offseason, I'm thinking Garcia starts the year in AAA and is there until at least June or July, unless one of two things happen...

1) A couple guys are hurt at the same time
2) He's killing it in Indianapolis.

If I were a gambling man, I'd bet on under 150 PA's this season.

Too bad he has until 2029...  He can f*ck up the entity that is MLB even more than he already has...

I'll be curious to see how he and the players, handle the CBA.  I think the players are stupid and are going to force a lockout.  Manfred is right about very few things... a cap system he's right about.  I'll be interested to see if and how he pushes it and how the players respond.

Salary cap systems are better for the players than no system, but I don't think the MLBPA are smart enough to know that.

Actually I am hoping for a long lockout after this season, but something does need to be done to try to get smaller markets involved better...

The league never recovered from the last one and it's in their best interest to not repeat that mistake.  If they do that now, there's way too many other options for kids to go in than there was back in the 90's.  Plus, people have less disposable income and pissing fans off will certainly lose fans.  They need to not have a lockout.

They definitely need a cap and floor with better revenue sharing.  The small market teams generate about 20 to 30% of their operating costs from the local TV deals, and there's a real problem there.  Now, FanDuel Sports is defaulting on their TV deals with teams.  That's a problem the owners need to fix and that's where the revenue sharing needs to be addressed.

Roster resource currently has him on the mlb roster , on their bench. I don’t see that to start the season. I’m curious how serious they are about pushing Konnor Griffin . Should be an interesting spring training

From a top 26 perspective, right now, he's there.  The issue is that the Pirates aren't going to want him to ride the pine, they're going to want him to get AB's.  Hitting HR's with a .270 average in AAA is good, the problem is he strikes out too much and doesn't walk enough.  He's not going hit HR's like that in the majors, plus he's going to strike out more and walk less.

I won't have a handle on how they're going to handle Griffin until after the business season.  If they sign Eugenio, they're likely to be content with Triolo at SS for a good while.  Triolo is an elite defender and if he's a competent hitter like he was at the end of the season, then the offensive production of the team will dictate how long Griffin is in AAA.  I think they're hope is that they can hold out for him to get Super 2 status.  If they're smart (which we know they aren't), they offer Griffin a 10+ year / $150M+ contract now.
