No it isn’t ding dong

Entering the U.S. illegally is a
federal crime, specifically a misdemeanor for a first offense. However, the offense escalates to a felony if the individual has been previously removed (deported) from the United States and attempts to reenter or is found in the U.S. without authorization.

Initial Entry
  • First Offense: Unlawfully entering or attempting to enter the U.S. at a location other than a designated port of entry is a criminal offense under 8 U.S.C. § 1325. It is punishable as a misdemeanor, which can result in a fine, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.

Entering, not being in.   You think all 600+ entered illegally?

Yes. All of them

I have yet to figure out how to be somewhere without having to enter that space.  Maybe you can do it

right, and whats the PENALTY for overstaying your visa

https://legalclarity.org/what-happens-if-you-overstay-your-visa-in-the-us/

6 months in jail

Makes visa overstays a crime: Classifies overstaying a visa as “illegal entry” under federal law, closing a major national security loophole. Criminal penalties: Imposes up to 6 months in jail for a first offense and up to 2 years for repeat offenses.

Link please.  Looks like you’re referring to a bill that’s been proposed by a Senator in Indiana

yah youre right, I edited in a different link, not sure why google had that as an answer when I asked the question

its a crime punishable by fines, deportation and potentially jail

that being said, the likelihood of them being visa overstays is minimal, thats why they hide in sanctuary cities

the proposal linked does look amazing

No it is not currently punishable by jail.

I think out of 600+, the likelihood of some of them having entered legally initially is pretty high

CHICAGO, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Nearly two dozen people were arrested as faith leaders protested on Friday outside a federal immigration facility near Chicago, authorities said, the latest sign of tensions over the Trump administration's aggressive enforcement push.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office said in a press release that 21 people had been detained outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center in Broadview, Illinois, but did not provide identities and charges. Michael Woolf, minister at Lake Street Church of Evanston, was among those arrested, a Reuters photo showed.<<

how many visas do we give out, how many overstay, as opposed to how many MILLIONS cross the border illegally

regardless of how they came here, they can go home, free flight, later criminals
