Visited Hiroshima Today

Recommended Posts

Went through the museum, and the grounds of the park.  Was pretty interesting.  I felt.. almost indifferent I guess?  It was a horrible thing that happened and I felt bad for the people, but... the ultimate FAFO?

There was quite a bit on the "how" and the aftermath, but seemed to be a pretty blatent lack of the "why".

Got a Marine buddy went through the one in Nagasaki when he was stationed over here and said he noticed the same.

Anyway... I did learn something I didn't know.  We had 12 American POW's (B-29 crew) that died in the blast.

You’re in Japan??!! Awesome!! 👏🏽

I’ve been told that the people are so polite and courteous and the country is so modern and advanced that you won’t want to return to the United States. How has your trip been so far? Are you going to Tokyo? How is the food? Have you experienced the bidets? Japan is on my bucket list.

We've lived here for a year and a half.  We have another year and a half to go.

We live 45 minutes from Tokyo by train.  We're there usually weekly.  There's a lot of people!  Hahah ... You get used to it.

Japan is cool... The shiny has worn off now.  You get tired of being the foreigner.  But... I've had zero bad experiences.  My 16 year old daughter can go all over with her friends and we don't worry.  That's the biggest difference by far. Lack of crime.

The toilets are pretty awesome.  If we ever buy a house again we'll most likely get Japanese style toilets installed.

It's modern and advanced in some ways... And a bit behind in others.

Medical... Weirdly is lacking.  Also ..they still use cash over here way more than we do.

Food is good... But you miss the variety of home.

You live there???? I wish this wasn’t such a psycho weird place; we used to be able to share photos. Well, I am so happy for you. Please give us updates. Actually, I’d rather know what your wife thinks. Is everyone super skinny? Are clothes and electronics affordable? I would love to learn about all the funny things you’ve learned or strange things you experience. Maybe this only in Korea, but are your floors heated? Have you seen many women wearing kimonos? Did you visit the cherry blossom trees? So glad you get to experience low crime. How does the American dollar hold up? TIA

Good questions, I like reading about the day to day life stuff that are different here. Btw I had heated flooring in bedrooms & bathrooms in MA, is this a thing in Japan?

Really??? I read in Korea having heated floors was a wonderful feature. Had no idea that option was available in the United States.

Do they still have the shadows on the ground of people that were there when the bomb exploded?

Also, have you been kanchoed yet?

Shouldn't have touched our boats.

Part of the problem is that most of WW2 history taught in out schools focuses on the Nazis, while Japan gets boiled down to Pearl Harbor and the nukes. The Japanese were absolutely brutal, with atrocities equaling or even surpassing the Nazis.
