Maximum Overkill 2,585 Posted Wednesday at 11:53 PM There's nothing in the observable universe that could support life as we know it. Even so, they are millions, even billions of light years away. We could never reach them.

jerryskids 7,168 Posted yesterday at 01:19 AM Very interesting, thanks for posting. I hadn't heard about the red dwarf issues, that's a big limiter. Also the lack of rotation on tidal locked planets possibly (probably?) causing an insufficient magnetic field is an issue. It's like there are a near-infinite number of planets, and a near-infinite number of reasons life can't exist on them.

It's like there are a near-infinite number of planets, and a near-infinite number of reasons life can't exist on them. I just looked it up. Only 3.5% of stars are like our sun. And our galaxy cluster is in the middle of a void. So unless an intelligent species arose from our local cluster, then that could explain why we haven't been contacted. Why go to the middle of a vast void when you can go to nearby galaxies? Is a ape like species with nukes worth travelling all that distance? It makes me believe that if UFOs aren't our technology then it is most likely interdimensional than from another planet. Interdimensional could explain why our physics don't apply to them. The Elevator Killer 722 Posted 23 hours ago Our local group contains 1 to 2 trillion stars so that leaves 35 billion sun like stars in our group. The Milky Way has about 200 to 400 billion stars. That leaves about 7 billion to 14 billion sun like stars in the Milky Way.

supermike80 2,114 Posted 21 hours ago Ok well. First of all, this is related to HUMAN life....And I agree. There are way way too many factors that would limit us from living on another planet. Radiation, climate, temperature, viruses and bacteria we have never experienced. It's darn near impossible. However in my opinion, that doesn't mean that there cant be intelligent life other planets that have adapted to their environment(just like we have) and are flourishing.
