You gotta hand it to whichever Taiwanese individual or crew it was that invented that focking chip. They did their country a massive, massive service. With Taiwan, its not just a matter of defending a democracy from a totalitarian regime anymore. China getting their hands on those chips would be a disaster. Now, given that situation, you'd thing that not even the most feckless of US presidents can plausibly sit around and do nothing if Taiwan gets invaded by China.

Of course, AOC and Rashida Tlaib exist... Taiwan just need hope we're not that stupid.

For the record, TSMC had planned $65B in investments.in 2024 and started on the Arizona plant last year.
