Hunter Henry (PPR)

What do you think about Hunter Henry in PPR league? i know Gates will cut into his production but his upside seems pretty high.

 

I'm in an auction keeper league where Gronk, Jordan Reed, Kelce, Ertz, Eifert, Martellus Bennet will be kept. I would have to pay $6 out of $100 budget to keep henry but TE is a need.

 

Thoughts?

$6 seem reasonable unless you think you could go into the draft and get a Kyle Rudolf or Jared Cook for a lot cheaper. Frankly, I'd rather have HH.

As long as Gates is healthy he will be the main TE on that team and will finish as a TE1. I liked what I saw from Henry last year but he's not the starter yet.

yeah, its hard to say. i think if everything goes right, henry would go $3-$5. So paying a little more now isn't terrible and if he does break out and/or Gates retires at end of year, he would still be keepable at around $8 the following year.

 

For perspective, Gronk is currently at $13 in our league

How many in the league? You mentioned 6 other TE that you believe will be kept, so maybe not many bidding on the remaining TE talent pool.

It's a 12 team league. What makes it harder to gauge is that this dynasty league is in year 9-10 of existence, so some teams will have alot of money going into draft (lots of holes to fille); while some teams will have little (but only need 1-2 impact players). So if you want someone, you may have to overpay.

 

Definitely keeps the league interesting. As teams who know they are in a rebuild year may overpay for talent (during the draft) to use the player as trade bait at the end of the year for younger, cheaper keepers. I think we are at the point where its really hard to get great bargains in the draft. Best bargains usually have come from FA or a guy coming off an injury.

Yes, I'm in an auction style keeper league too. We had an owner retire, and he was last year's champ so a lot of stars going back into the pool. Guys like A Rodgers, Melvin G, David J, and A Cooper. Plus, I'm throwing back Brees. Should be a fun draft!

That could happen.

 

But with Keenan coming back and the wildcard of Mike Williams they still have a ton of pass catching options.

 

And then he still has to compete with old man gates in the red zone.

 

I like Henry. Would love a dynasty copy but I don't love him in redraft as things stand.

 

At least not more than some other TEs around his adp.

 

These are late TEs though. Draft who ya want. Likely won't make or break things either way.

And I'm not ranking either of them two high.

 

But Hunter should lead the te postion with the Chargers in rec and yards and targets.

 

But if you draft a te late like I normally do he's worth a pick.

Gates will be in and out of the lineup all year with various ailments and needing breaks. He is running on fumes at this point and Henry should lead the te in rec.
