Redskins Offense

Recommended Posts

How are you guys projecting the redskins offense this year? With DJax as a vertical threat and RGlll finally 100% plus with their new coach it seems to look good for them. What do you guys think?

Nothing but love for the skins offense. I think they win the division easily considering rg3 return to form and desean in the mix. People will point to the eagles but Djax was a big part of that and foles is in for a minor regress season I believe. May have to lean on McCoy more.

Everyone always projects last years winners to win again but that's rarely the case outside of the top teams with the best coaching like packers, pats etc. divisions like the NFC east turn over a lot. I'd say the giants or skins win it.

Too easy. The giants usually follow up bad seasons with superbowl wins with Eli at the helm plus the eagles had people gameplanning for Vick last year, not Foles. Defenses now know what to expect and wont be surprised. Foles isnt the rubix cube of nfl qbs thats hard to figure out. Betting money is silly but ill happilygentlemens or sig bet bet that the giants finish with an equal or better record than the eagles after the final week of the regular season this year.

I have no idea what to make of the Skins O. I'm not very sold on RG3 as a passer and I'm fairly convinced DJax will decline after his career year in Chip Kelly's offense. The value pick I like the most on WAS is Jordan Reed. I will gladly take him in the 7-8 range over any TE other than Graham.

They have really surrounded RG3 with some very good talent . This is the team to beat in the NFC West

I live in the D.C. area. The only things worth mentioning I'm hearing in the daily reports are that RG3 is zeroed in on D-Jax, which might be bad news for Garcon, and that Gruden in determined to find a receiving back from among the Helu, Thompson, Seastrunk group and is basically ignoring Morris in passing situations for the backs, even though Morris says he wants to catch more balls. So I wouldn't expect Morris to suddenly bust out in ppr leagues.

I have been optimistic about the skins offense for a while. RGIII is another year removed from his injury, qb friendly offense before the addition of Jackson.... Lately tho I've started 2nd guessing myself and worrying it could take RG3 time to adapt to new coach and vise versa. Hopefully preseason clears it up a bit but at this point I still think they could be the surprise team in the NFC East when Eli realizes he is done, Iggles regress as defenses start figuring out how to keep up since almost every offense is wanting to work towards 70 plays a game and practice accordingly, and cowboys should have a classic 8-8 season.

I have already been targeting D-Jax as a WR2 and will continue to do so until I see something to prove me wrong. The more interesting question I have is how much will Morris be used? I know one game last year against San Diego the Skins were in the red zone and instead of giving it to Morris they decided to give it to Young 3 times in a row. Very frustrating but now that they are looking for a more pass happy offense so how will Morris be this year?

It's a tough call on Morris-- while many people will look at last year's #'s as maybe dissapointing/inconsistent, he did still quietly put up strong yardage numbers without the TD totals.. and while some people may be down on Morris because of that.. I 100% blame the redskins defense for putting them behind constantly and RG3 for playing like a focking bum.. they had to give up on the run game after the first half like every game. It was so frustrating as a morris owner . With their defense supposedly better and RG3 healed, the redskins will be in many more games and should be able to run the ball in the second half without worrying about trying to make up 45 points in 15 minutes. D-Jax also adds a nice deep threat to the mix; their passing offense could be very explosive-- this is good for morris too as he could see less stacked boxes.. play action would be deadly with morris and he is a great pass blocker

The defense might be ever so slightly better, but will once again be really bad. They kept the same defensive coaching staff that's horrendous. Haslett should've been fired before Shanahan. Haslett is pitiful. The secondary might be slightly better with Clark, but is still putrid and one of the leagues worst. Andre Johnson week one may have a 200 yard day. Expect a similar year from Alf. Really nothing was significantly changed to one of the worst defenses in the league. As a fan Its not pretty. Oddly, Dallas did nothing to a bad defense either. Are teams not watching what the NFC West is doing? I am.

not at all. dood has a great chance to be a high quality corner this yr. all the tools and skillset. he's doing it right now in TC against some pretty good WRs.

"The Sports Reporters", the local radio show here in the D.C. area, said yesterday that RG3 was taking too long to make his reads and go through his progressions. That's pretty typical for young QB's learning a new system. But it should be something you keep in the back of your head early in the year. I think that offense will be a pain to deal with by the end of the year, but I have no clue when the transition from confusion to production will take place. If they're struggling around game 4-6, I might make a move to trade for RG3 or D-Jax at that point. Not sure I'd want them as starters before then. Though, I think the run game should be okay.

Not to put too much stock in radio reports, but this has been my concern about Griffin from the start. Slow to make the reads which translates to pressure which translates to him reverting to what he's done his entire life : run. But he's not the only superior athlete on the field at this level.

And watch DJax when the ball isn't getting to him when and where he wants it. He's such a joy when that happens.

I hope you're right as a fellow Skins fan! I just don't see it. They need a new defensive scheme so badly. I loathe Haslett. Until he gets run out of town the Skins defense will be terrible.

me too. i dont want to bog down talking about a player w/ little FF relevance to us, but i believe amerson takes a big step this yr.

im not gonna defend haslett, but this is very much a put up kind of yr for him. if he doesn't get it done, he'll be gone.

He coaches a bend and break defense with a poor pass rush.

The Skins should've re-hired Gregg Williams the second he became eligible. Watch the Rams defense this year. They have talent and will have a great scheme. I'm targeting the Rams d in most leagues. They are going to be scary.

i will say that the addition of pass rushers this offseason does lend to a revised approach schematically.

seems pressure is going to be a large focus of the packages this yr, TC has shown that, too.

ill take a few big plays out of opposing offenses if it means more turnovers and short fields in the long run.

i agree about gregg, too.

seems like just a yr ago he was the heir apparent to coach joe. wow how things have changed since then.

Since I live in the DC area, I love to see the optimism around the team. Not because I like the team (which I don't), but because the optimism will have a lot of people in my league reaching for their players. I honestly don't see how they become a worst to first team in that division with the changes they made or even with a healthy RG3. The team is still very broken.

I still think the Eagles are better run team with more talent still, and with the addition of McAdoo in NY, the Giants offense will be much improved. I think the Skins and Dallas will be competing for last place in the East... and the NFC East is still pretty weak.

I do think the Skins will put up stats, but only because they are still a poor team and will be playing from behind again. It is hard to trust players in that situation though.
