Recommended Posts

I would really like to hear the purists opinion of both of the below.

so musically they nailed Wish you were here, almost was perfect rendition. As for the vocals, it didn't do it justice, my problem with Avenged though is a lot of times I am listening to them I think yep another song they ended up trying to sound like Metallica.

God Only Knows was good though, cause they changed it from the original enough, and the Beach Boys although lasting forever weren't iconic

I think both would be cool to hear in concert, I love hearing covers in person

So weird...I loved M. Shadows vocals on Wish You Were Here. I thought he "made it their own" so to speak, but while sticking pretty close to the original.

God Only Knows started off like sh1t, imo (I've only listened to it twice as of this poast) but the way they rocked it up was pretty damn fun.

Either way, I appreciate your honest response.

Bunntbasturds, on the other hand, is a close minded drunkard that wouldn't / couldn't appreciate any music out of his wheelhouse to save his life, :wall:

Mebbe that's why I love him so much.

Also, music is subjective. Much like my peemus size

I love covers, most of the times more than the original

as far as Wish you were here, I like this obscure band probably most people never heard of Catherine Wheel, I like his voice so much more. Let me know what you think

of course I grew up on Catherine Wheel, so I am probably a little biased

So fuckin funny that I actually heard this version at work today.

Seriously...My alignment tech (Kenny) , after listening to the A7X version, played me the Catherine Wheel version. Holy chit :first:

He didn't say so at the time, but I'm guessing that one of the reasons he knows about it / them is because he (like myself) is a huge Iron Maiden fan. You know where I'm going here...

I just found out while looking some of the comments on Catherine Wheels Vevo YouTube channel, that fuckhead is Bruce Dickensons cousin :music_guitarred:

Also, I'm digging their songs so far.

I totally remember how it was the kewl thing to have a 91x sticker somewhere on your car in the 80s.

I had zero idea what it meant until I took a roadie to my sisters condo ON Newport Beach back in the late 80s and tuned into them somewhere between Bakersfied and Buttonwillow.

My bro and were amazed with the music they were playing. (at least I think it was 91x)

Side note -

At this moment I'm drunk and reliving my love for "My Chemical Romance" . Damn, but I loved / love that band :headbanger:

yep, 91X was the first Iconic alternative radio station in the nation, it started KROQ which failed in comparison, once I started listening to 91X it was all over, prior to that it was KGB for me (Classic Rock) in San Diego

Nice work in Wish You Were Here.

I love that song anyway, and I always enjoy a fresh take on a great song.

Never was a Beach Boys fan so I'm the wrong one to comment on that one.

thats kind of how I am on the Beach Boys, never really got them and how they were good, they always just seem like background music in beach party scenes on tv.

Wish you were here...good stuff.

God only knows blows because the song blows and there's no fixing it.

Huh? Pet Sounds is one of the best albums of all time. That album alone makes them iconic.

too each is own, when David Lee Roth did a better beach song with California Girls than anything I can even name by the Beach Boys thats all I know. Quite frankly I have never really listened to the Beach Boys, every time I have ever heard it, I change the channels.

Despite producing a ton of albums and having a lot of hittish songs, they are never considered in the top 10 of their era.

also you are way to young to know about the Beach Boys

I don't like much of their other stuff but Pet Sounds is a masterpiece and was ahead of its time.

Ninety percent of the music I listen to came out before I was born. It was better music and I know that, that is why I listen to it. Do you live in a reality where a person must have been alive when something came out to enjoy it or be knowledgable about it?
