    What is "kind," though? I treat people I encounter with kindness, unless indicated otherwise. I think most people are that way. Some here might just avoid the situation (e.g., avoid approaching or talking to a trans person). That's perhaps the most kindness they can muster. I strongly doubt that anyone here would walk up to such a person and tell them they are mentally ill, regardless of their bloviation on this site.

    It sounds to me like you vote conservative mostly for economic reasons (such as your complaints about California bureaucracy, etc.) Does the Republican intolerance on trans and gay issues bother you?

    This is probably the best thing I've read here in a very long time. I am sure there are a few of us here who remember being these ages and struggling with friendships, discovering who we are as people, and figuring out our place in the world. You add one social issue to ANY of this and it will begin to rewire and skew thinking. There is proof out there that our brains can be rewired. You add in parents who NEED their children to be a part of this social movement and this is what happens. These kids need someone other than mom and dad to talk to. One of my daughter's best friends is transmale. She plans on getting surgeries and all kinds of things. She's in her early 20s, but the only thing I can think of is the potential for a lifetime of physical pain that she might be going through. I also have another friend who was lesbian until her mid 40s and then decided she was trans. She's been on hormones, had top surgery and will eventually get bottom surgery. her mental illnesses and issues have not improved or changed, when she thought that becoming a man would "fix" it all. There's so much more to all of this.

    Yes. Denouncing trannies. Every time a tranny in oregon wins a state title. Every time a tranny goes into the womens locker room at the YMCA. Every time a tranny gets violent. Every time a tranny cry bullies. They need to stop pretending there is an epidemic of trans violence every time some messed up tranny prostitute or sex addict gets beat up for pretending they dont have a shlong. Hahahaha. And now you just realized that you are on that hill since you are likely having a visceral reaction reading all that and want to defend it.

    Sounds like the shooter may have been trans AND anti-Jew, Muslim, Black, Hispanic, and LGBTQ! The weapons also included an array of hateful references and messages targeting Christians, Jews, Black people, LGBTQ+ individuals, Muslims, Hispanics, and others, such as “kick a spic,” “Burn Israel,” and “6 million wasn’t enough,” an antisemitic phrase lamenting that only six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. In one video, the shooter also showed off a smoke bomb that had “Extra Thicc! [sic] Jew Gas” written on it in silver marker. Edit: Anti-Catholic too. Thanks @HellToupee!

    No you’re just creating revisionist history. IMO one of the first times the trans issue really hit the mainstream was around HB2 in NC, AKA “the bathroom bill.” Is it your claim that the right’s defense of that was simply that “the left shouldn’t be catering to a small population”?

    Good catch. He also says the list is only where 4+ died, which wouldn’t even include yesterday’s shooting. I still think he’s including Anderson Aldrich as trans/nonbinary when anyone with more than 2 brain cells knows he wasn’t really non-binary.

    Well, the shooter here had already posted their manifesto online before the shooting, and it had gone viral, so the authorities couldn't really put a lid on it as too many folks had seen it. IIRC the Nashville shooter's manifesto was a private document discovered by police after the shooting, and who had to make a determination if it was wise to release it given possible retribution against trans folks.

    I don't see how it's possible. Center-right moderates like @Sandy Loamassure us that trans people only make up 0.000000000000001% of the population, with even fewer in sports and women safe spaces (maybe a fraction of one person), so there can't possibly be multiple threads worth of issues to discuss.
