OB1 33 Posted May 26, 2004 Emoney In his defense, he emailed me last week and told me he would be in vegas this week. He likely has no clue we are even drafting. I thought he might check in at night, but that appears to be a no go.

We just started a couple days ago once all the rules were ironed out. We knew you were/are in Vegas. Cool. Well I am happy with Manning. I'm sure some assclown will make fun of the pick. I could have taken several RB/WR over him but he wouldn't have made it back to me. In a dynasty draft I just take my guy. I don't risk not getting him. Manning makes it easier for me to build my team.

Scooby 0 Posted May 28, 2004 Deuce at #6 is very, very nice. I would have traded the pick if Emoney would have taken Duece but with him still there I could not pass.

OB1 33 Posted May 28, 2004 Deuce at #6 is very, very nice. The only guy that I would have considered trading up for. LT2 is the consensus top pick, and it's hard to argue with that, but I just think Deuce has less wear and tear on him. I expect big things from him this year and beyond. I think he might end the year the new fantasy king.

The guy next to me, who went to MSU, says "Whoa, that's Deuce McAllister!!!" Sure enough, I look, and it was him. He was looking round in the middle and had a limp. He went and played at another craps table. I can only assume he lost everything. [/deuce mcallister anecdote]

Farmer Bernie 0 Posted May 28, 2004 FB, was he ballooned up to 270 lbs like the reports say? I was there with RyanM and we were both a bit shocked by how many buckets of Popeye's he's put away this offseason. If the guy next to me at the craps table wouldn't have said anything, I never would have thought that the man who just limped by was an NFL RB.

Mark Buffington 3 Posted May 28, 2004 Done. I was going to trade down, because I figured Deuce and SA would be gone. Sorry ~O

OB1 33 Posted May 28, 2004 The Manning pick surprised me a bit, but it didn't shock me. It should get a bit more interesting with the big 6 RBs off the board.

Wilzone 0 Posted May 28, 2004 That was one of the toughest 1st round decisions I've ever made. I went back and forth a number of times and finally decided that in a 16-team league, you need to make sure your 1st round pick plays like a 1st round pick. I'm pretty sure I'll get that out of Holt. I may or may not have gotten that out of Jailbird Lewis.

OB1 33 Posted May 28, 2004 I'm not as big on Holt as most, and I don't know why. I guess it's his lack of TDs up until last year, I wonder if last year was the exception and not the new rule. He certianly put up monster numbers last season, and he is a talented WR in his prime, so it's a good pick. I'm just glad I didn't have to make it. He'll probably prove me wrong and be a top 3 WR for the next 5 years.

Actually, the reason I traded him last year was because he didn't score TDs, and I didn't think that would change. Again, he could prove me wrong, but i'm not on the Holt bandwagon. Wilzone 0 Posted May 28, 2004 I guess it's his lack of TDs up until last year, I wonder if last year was the exception and not the new rule. I think a number of factors would suggest that his TDs should remain high. First off, it appears that Bulger sees him as his go-to-guy. Secondly, Holt had to compete with Faulk and Bruce for all of those TDs in the past. Now that those other two are aging a bit, I think Holt takes over as the stud touchdown maker. Or last year was an anomaly. I hope it's the 1st scenario.

A valid arguement, both Faulk and Bruce are not the players they were even two years ago, and Bulger looks to Holt in the red zone a lot more than Warner did. Again, i'm probably wrong about this, I traded Holt away for K Rob in the LOST dynasty last year and came out looking like a fool. Maybe Scooby is right, that subconsiously I NEED Holt to come back to earth and KRob to blossom to save face.
