CA_7 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Cards to talk with James Kent Somers ~ The Arizona Republic Mar. 11, 2006 12:00 AM The Cardinals reportedly have reversed field and decided to pursue an elite running back in free agency after all. In an interview Friday morning with KGME-AM (910), Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com said Indianapolis running back Edgerrin James and agent Drew Rosenhaus are scheduled to visit the Cardinals today, the opening day of free agency. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/...1cards0311.html

Duffman 0 Posted March 11, 2006 I think Warner with Edge would be huge!! May put Aizona back on the football map.

Wildman 0 Posted March 11, 2006 I really hope the Colts find a way to keep him, but this is interesting. The issue the Cards still have is that o-line. I'm curious if Edge seriously considers them. Is it me or does the first team a player visits in an FA sweepstakes is most often the team with the worst chance?
CA_7 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Darren Urban, of the East Valley Tribune, reports the Arizona Cardinals are expected to push free agent RB Edgerrin James (Colts) hard to get him to sign a deal before he leaves town. LINK Kurt, Edge, Boldin and Fitz

I'm curious if Edge seriously considers them. Is it me or does the first team a player visits in an FA sweepstakes is most often the team with the worst chance? I hope he goes somewhere else, so that poor sport, selfish moron Manning has to do it all himself. He may be one of the best ever (already), but I'll never be able to embrace him as a fan friendly player.
mggoilers 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Manning will have huge numbers regardless, but could he reunite with his college buddy Jamal Lewis? Edge in Arizona would be solid, with those wideouts he'll have planty of room underneath
mggoilers 0 Posted March 12, 2006 According to Profootballtalk.com JAMES STILL IN 'ZONA Running back Edgerrin James stayed in Arizona through Saturday, and he's attending the Phoenix Suns' game on Saturday night with Kendrick Clancy and Milford Brown. All three visited with the team on Saturday, and Clancy signed a four-year, $8.1 million deal. We're told that the Cards plan to make a big push to get James under contract, even though coach Dennis Green recently said that the team won't pursue any big-ticket free agents. Wildman 0 Posted March 12, 2006 I think the Edge to Denver possibility makes sense. I know the Broncos have the reputation for finding quality backs deep in the draft, but they haven't struck gold lately with Clarett, Bell, Griffin, etc. They did strike gold with Portis, but felt they needed a shut down corner and would have an easier time finding a quality RB to replace Clinton...didn't happen. They needed Portis and Bailey. Edgerrin James isn't a bad replacement for Portis--by any stretch of the imagination. James is a blue collar back that is equally good as a runner, pass blocker, and receiver. I'm an unabashed fan of James' game and believe there isn't a better back at gaining 4-5 yards between the tackles in the game. He no longer has that break away speed that he possessed when he led the league in rushing in his first two years. But I find it hard to believe he isn't at least as fast as Mike Anderson. If the Broncos ink James, I think it's a sure sign they believe they were one player away from the SB.
Vince44 205 Posted March 12, 2006 I think the Cards need to make a splash, and do what it takes to take the pressure off Warner, you have to upgrade at RB after the nightmare of last year.

mdubz 0 Posted March 12, 2006 i can't see how this helps edge's fantasy value but it definitely helps the cardinals as a franchise.
