LunaTick 30 Posted April 29, 2006 You think Hodge might be there at their next pick. That would be interesting. Keeping a pair of LB together. May hinder, in someway, the teaching of the NFL defense. But would be benefitted by the two familiarity with the others game. Anticipation awesome. But I have seen Hodge rated high enough that, with the run on defense. I find it unlikely he will be there. With the run of defense here, I wouldn't be surprised to see a run on offense in the second round. Has a team ever drafted players who played next to each other in college? Vikings4ever 550 Posted April 29, 2006 Either Hodge or Jean-Gilles would be good picks next. OK, the Vikes can fill one or two major holes in the next 4 picks. DON'T FOCK IT UP!!! 2.16-Minnesota Vikings-Cedric Griffin, CB, Texas Not the greatest pick, but I can live with it. He fills the nickleback role, and is a good fit for the cover 2 defense. MahSoonerz 0 Posted April 29, 2006 You will be happy with Cedric Griffin. I think he has a lot of that legendary "upside."

LunaTick 30 Posted April 29, 2006 So instead of Hodges at ILB. they go with: from ESPN Griffin lacks ideal speed and hip fluidity, which limits his man-to-man coverage potential in the NFL. He is not a lock-down man-to-man cover corner and he will not hold up on an island consistently at the next level. However, he does have the size, strength, recognition skills and toughness to support the run and match up against bigger receivers. He will fit best in a cover-2 scheme, where... and then the biggest snub in local sports history. Rather than getting the number 2 OC in the draft with Eslinger. they get this guy Cook who is ranked number 4 on the list. Brain trust, morons more like it. Here is what ESPN has on Ryan Cook, the Vikings new center. File not found You’ve requested an ESPN.com page that does not exist. Per Scott Wright profile: Strengths:Has great size and a large frame with long arms...Is very strong...Plays with an attitude and has a nasty demeanor on the field...Feet and quickness are more than adequate inside...Smart and a hard worker who wants to improve...Versatile and can play multiple positions...Durable and productive with a lot of experience. Weaknesses: Might be too tall and struggles with leverage and knee bend...Is not very mobile or adept in space...Not very explosive...Is not a great natural athlete...Below average at the second level taking on linebackers...Weight room strength doesn't always translate onto the field...Still raw and will need to be developed further. Notes: Former walk-on for the Lobos...Highly decorated and earned first team all-MWC honors three straight years...Could potentially move outside to tackle at the next level...Interesting developmental prospect due to his great size and intangibles. LunaTick 30 Posted April 29, 2006 Espn then spewed out this Cook is a massive prospect who has spent nearly his entire collegiate career at the center position but he could be a better fit as a right tackle or guard in the NFL. He does not possess ideal athletic ability and he is clearly not a natural knee bender, which will become a much bigger problem in the NFL than it has been at the mid-major collegiate level. However, he has quick feet So they wasted a 3rd round pick on a guy that would definitely be there for their 4th round pick that might be a RT and a backup OC. To backup you OC coming off of hernia injury. They totally threw away their second round I am sure the rubes at Winter Park were booing both of these picks. What a bunch of morons that brain trust is turning out to be.
Vikings4ever 550 Posted April 30, 2006 Traded up for Tarvaris Jackson
esoitl 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Traded up for Tarvaris Jackson very very curious when Croyle, and Whitehurst are both sitting there hard to say since i didnt see any of him but this is very very odd to me, not Buffalo odd but one of those times when the teams is too focused on a guy and just jumps the gun to go grab him what was the trade? two 3rd rounders did i hear? bit steep IMO

Vikings4ever 550 Posted April 30, 2006 Gee, with at pick 83, Croyle and Jacobs are both still there, and Jackson likely would have been there. Nice trade, Vikes.
LunaTick 30 Posted April 30, 2006 Did the IQ in the Vikings war room go down after Tice left? This new Head Coach has yet to impress me. Potential whatever So far he has been a real arse clown, won't let go Cpepp, and now the second round blunders.

LunaTick 30 Posted April 30, 2006 I think Buffalo sent over whatever they were taking after the Vikes drafted Griffin. I will be honest, when I saw who they drafted after hearing they dealt with Pittsburgh. I though, why would you stretch to pickup a project WR. Once I realized this tool is a qb, I thought. Did I overlook him on the local radio stations player rankings? Nope, he isn't listed in the top 10. Furthermore, all of those guys are still there. What is worse, the two guys I would have expected they would have taken were there for them in round 3. What a complete wasted draft. This crew is lead by the biggest group of morons one could ever know. They reached at 48, at 51, and again at 64. What poor judge of value the Vikes war room has become. A total regression from the Tice days. Seriously.
