swamp dog 0 Posted April 29, 2006 if the warrooms saw that stupid commericial where he's wearing the shades, he might drop all the way out of the first round. idiot.
neworleansff2003 0 Posted April 29, 2006 more like 40 million (lets say 50-60 last year, 7-10 mil this year as a #10)
shovelheadt 71 Posted April 29, 2006 Now either him or Cutler or really focked with the Raiders going with Huff.
neworleansff2003 0 Posted April 29, 2006 assuming cards pick the next qb taken at 10, if they pick cutler, leinart might jump off the brooklyn bridge. Now either him or Cutler or really focked with the Raiders going with Huff.

devildog 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Didn't he fire his previous agent because he wanted to be the #1 pick? New guy's doing a bang up job

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Leinart to Fitz and Boldin, with Edge in the backfield. That's pretty potent. Man, if they take Cutler. Damn, he's probably dropping to Baltimore
t.j 35 Posted April 29, 2006 The Arizona pick has got to be a huge relief for Leinart. Close to home, great receivers, a QB-friendly coach, a new stadium and generally up-and-coming (maybe) team. And most of all, who knows how far he could have fallen if they didn't take him...
devildog 0 Posted April 29, 2006 His value just jumped in dynasty rookie drafts. I have the 1.03 pick and I'd strongly consider him there depending on where the RBs land.
Deadpool 0 Posted April 29, 2006 I was thinking that too. "I didn't go high enough. I'm going to go home and ." I can see him saying something like..... "I don't care if I'm not the #1 pick, I still think I'm the best player here" So Matt, how does it feel to get drafted by the worst team in NFL history? salparadise 1 Posted April 29, 2006 This is going to be the steal of the draft. Mark my words, when we look back at this draft in the years to come, Matt Leinart at 10 to the Cards will be the S.O.D.
Savage Beast 1 Posted April 29, 2006 Leinart will get plenty of playing time in Arizona this season because Warner is so immoble and injury prone.
NJJoe20 0 Posted April 29, 2006 He may not get the $40 million he would have, but I do believe his second contract will be worth over $100 million, due to the fantastic WR core he now has. I can't think of a better situation for a young QB/

titan20 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Sieze the Day, Matt. Could have been number 1 in 05, ends up #10 in 06. It's all because he was a fat child.

DaveJ 0 Posted April 30, 2006 You guys are always so short-sighted... Sure he lost on a big signing bonus and initial contract. However, he landed in a very prime location. Picture this for a moment... your looking at going to the Titans, Jets or Raiders... teams in obvious decline and trouble and they pass you by... Where do you land?? In an offense coached by Denny Green with Boldin, Fitzgerald on the corners and Edge behind you. You know you won't be thrown into the meat grinder since they have a solid vet playing there already, though a vet in the final couple of years of his career. A vet who helped Trent Green and Marc Bulger along.... If I were Leinart, I would be thanking the football gods and looking forward to my years to come in the playoffs and potentially the superbowl. He will sign for a smaller package now and when he becomes the starter, they will redo or extend his contract and whammo.. it all works out. I had him ranked behind Cutler as a possible dynasty draft target this year, but him landing in Zona just pushed him up I think considering the existing talent there. Cutler still has a good deal in Denver.. so its a close call.
t.j 35 Posted April 30, 2006 You guys are always so short-sighted... It's not short-sighted. He will never make up that $40M. From other standpoints other than money, I agree he is going to be fine, and has a good chance to be better off.
DaveJ 0 Posted April 30, 2006 It's not short-sighted. He will never make up that $40M. From other standpoints other than money, I agree he is going to be fine, and has a good chance to be better off. I beg to differ.... if he lands in an ideal spot and excels he would make much more than if he landed in a crap city and bombed due to the supporting staff, being rushed into the lead etc. The only way it wouldn't even out over his entire career is if would have excelled in a crap city which is a moot point because he didn't land in one... which I can hardly believe I am saying about Zona. The total money made in a career is in the 2nd and 3rd contract, not the first. Sure the additional upfront and guarentee money is VERY nice.. but if he redoes his contract in a year or two when he takes over, he can look forward to some very nice liquidity from a signing bonus.
