bigmarc27 24 Posted April 29, 2006 hmmmm, I suppose he's a late first round dynasty guy now. Anyone think he'll get a legit shot at winning the job or is it him and Greg Jones with a little bit of Pearman in the mix as well?
Four More Beers 0 Posted April 29, 2006 Fred Taylor is going to start again this year.

bigmarc27 24 Posted April 29, 2006 Fred Taylor is going to start again this year. I've seen Taylor as a likely June 1 cut - any Jax homers?
Four More Beers 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I'm a Jax homer and I'd bet a lot of money against it. Greg Jones is not the answer.
bigtuna 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Maurice Drew is 5'6" He is not going to be more than a 3rd down back/return man EVER. he could be a good player in that role...but nothing more. he is a late 3rd round dynasty pick in my mind and i doubt he would make my roster in any league

esoitl 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Darren Sproles #2 in a way, yes
Wildman 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I don't think teams use a 2nd round pick on a guy be a 5 touch a game player. Warrick Dunn...Drew is a fine player and the only more explosive back in this draft is Reggie Bush. He helps out on special teams, 3rd down, and possibly as a 1st and second down option depending on the scheme. He's short, but he's big. This is an intriguing pick. bigtuna 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I don't think teams use a 2nd round pick on a guy be a 5 touch a game player. Well Yeaa they do. (i am not buying that 5 touch a game stuff...but) Kevin Faulk was a round two player. There has never been in my mind a 5'6" starting RB in NFL in a while. (Mack Herron last one?) Darren Sproles is a great comparison. Guys like Drew (which was a GOOD PICK IMO) get more than 5 touches. They return 4-5 kicks, run it 5 times and catch 5 balls. thats 15 touches. Kilroy 0 Posted April 30, 2006 He has a similiar build to Brian Westbrook and he's done pretty well for himslef. Westbrook is 5'8' and about 205. Drew is listed at almost 5'7" and 207. Considering how explosive he is, there's no reason to think he couldn't contribute in a similair fashion as Westbrook at some point. Also, remember Westbrook did almost nothing his rookie season before making an impact. Whenever Fred Taylor is officially done in Jacksonville, Drew could get the chance to be a 15-20 touch per game type of player.
Shockey fan 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I am curious why some think Greg Jones canot be the answer with Drew as the guy to mix it up a bit? Jones did very well last year - looking to deal for him in fantasy dynasty - interested to hear people's perspective on this - thanks.

Jones was a heckuva halfback at Florida State and has a good speed/power combo.
Erb047 0 Posted June 15, 2006 Hmmm interesting tidbit on Drew I read today. Jaguars rookie running back Maurice Drew is expected to miss the rest of the team's offseason football workouts after being arraigned Wednesday in Los Angeles on a felony assault charge. Drew, a second-round draft pick from UCLA, was scheduled at the arraignment for a preliminary hearing next Wednesday in Los Angeles to determine if he will stand trial for his alleged role in the April 23 beating of a college student. -- Florida Times-Union
