mmmmm...beer 790 Posted April 30, 2006 So I shelled out the 26 bucks for a year of consumer reports online... not to shabby.. been looking at cars as well as TV's. Look at these ratings... HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW JOE CARCUSS!!! LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FOCKING FIRE!! Ok so the Dodge Grand Caravan in the past hasn't been rated very well, but I was talking about a 2005 with the Stow & Go. Consumer reports rates the 2005 pretty good actually. Although for some reason it gave it a non-greata recommendation. I'm assuming they're going on past preformances of the Caravan. Anyways... here are the 3 reports for the Honda Odessey, the Toyota Sienna, and the Dodge Grand Caravan. And if your gonna compare... compare the '05 Grand Caravan with a '02 Sienna/Odessey because they're about the same price now. '05 Grand Caravan does pretty good in the ratings and I think compares well with the other two. Especially when you take into consideration I can get the '05 Grand Caravan for a fraction of the price of the '05 jap rigs. dcOne 2 Posted April 30, 2006 So I shelled out the 26 bucks for a year of consumer reports online So then you obviously saw that the top ranked dishwasher detergent was the Cascade 2-in-1 tabs...but it cost 21 cents per use, and the Target brand, also cleaned "excellent", and was only 9 cents per use--but it scored poorly in the "damage to silver" category? You saw that, right?

Ravens 03 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I just had a '98 Grand Caravan die @ 165,000 miles. If I were to buy today i would get the Honda ot Toyota version. These ratings are for comfort today and how many cupholders, not overall quality and how it will last in 5+ years down the road.

Recliner Pilot 61 Posted May 1, 2006 My wife had two Caravans as company vehicles. They suck. Spent more time in the shop than on the road. Bright side is that I could right reviews of cars based on all the rentals we have driven while they were in the shop.
Thornton Melon 607 Posted May 1, 2006 If you like your vehicles to have their transmission sh!t the bed before 100K miles, the Caravan is the top choice!
mmmmm...beer 790 Posted May 1, 2006 If you like your vehicles to have their transmission sh!t the bed before 100K miles, the Caravan is the top choice! Fock did anyone even read the report? Yeah their transmissions sucked before '05, but they got an excellent rating in '05.
BiPolarBear 483 Posted May 1, 2006 With three kids, a mini van has worked out a lot better than an SUV. The mini-vans are lower and easier for the kids to get in and out of. The whole mini-van concept started with Dodge/Chrysler and they have never been bad. We have a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager which is the same as a Grand Caravan; it has been fine. Before we got ours, I noticed that there were about 15 of them lined up in front of the elementary school when I went to pick up my daughter. I went from van to van and asked people how they liked there Dodge/Plymouths. I got responses like "this is my thrid one since the 80's" and "no problems". Some people recommended that we get the rear AC, which we did.
Ravens 03 0 Posted May 1, 2006 If you like your vehicles to have their transmission sh!t the bed before 100K miles, the Caravan is the top choice! It was a guaranty around 85,000 miles for what EVERYONE I know experienced. Fock did anyone even read the report? Yeah their transmissions sucked before '05, but they got an excellent rating in '05. You are making my point. Time will tell how good the vehicle is, not some report written now. Caravan turned out to have a guaranteed tranmission job before 100,000 miles. I'm basing my decision on YEARS of high quality Honda & Toyota.
Fumbleweed 516 Posted May 1, 2006 I have a Honda Odyssey. I love it. We have to make long trips to see family and haul all kinds of stuff around. I have 3 kids. You will never hear me try to defend having a "minivan". I'm thrilled to have it....really makes life easier. End of story.
hoffdaddy 1 Posted May 1, 2006 I have a Sienna. Also love it. With twin boys, this thing gets the job done. As for the Caravan, it may well be improved. But I'm sold on the quality of Honda and Toyota way more than anything Dodge/Chrysler has put out over the last few years. hoytdwow 202 Posted May 1, 2006 Get one with a dvd player. That way, you won't have to interact with your kids. HTH
RLLD 4,145 Posted May 1, 2006 I bought my wife the Grand Caravan Sport model back in 2002, it has been a pretty good deal so far. last year we had a problem with the power steering system, just after the warranty on those components expired....of course. It cost me $800 to fix it, but that has been the only money put into it. I liked the Sport model best because it didnt have a center console, and who ever is riding in the passenger side has easier access to the rest of the vehicle. I got it with the motorized rear and side dorrs, remote start, and DVD player. That thing rocks when we do our annual trips here and there. I DO wish it had a bigger gas tank. I know it tends to eat gas up a bit and I can accept that, i just wish we had to stop less
moneyb 0 Posted May 1, 2006 I love our 04 Nissan Quest. No problems after 30k. Must get all gadgets. Automatic Doors are great. DVD player great. Dual zone AC, ditto. The Nissan also has sunroof all the way back. Makes it not feel as enclosed as other minivans. Seats fold flat enough for sheets of wood.
