t.j 35 Posted June 15, 2006 http://fantasyfootball.rotoworld.com/conte...ort=NFL&id=3534 Noah Herron has been receiving snaps ahead of Samkon Gado with Green Bay's first team offense. We'll issue our usual "It's only June," disclaimer, but Gado hasn't helped himself during OTAs with Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport out. Maybe he's spending too much time working at the local hospital.
murf74 461 Posted June 15, 2006 I liked the way he ran in preseason with the Steelers. This shows you, stay away from all of GB's injured Rbs
football_scooter 0 Posted June 15, 2006 [simulated shocked response] No! He was the 2nd coming of Walter Peyton! [/simulated shocked response]
t.j 35 Posted June 15, 2006 It's pretty minor news, I know. But I can't be the only desperate Gado opener who was praying that he somehow would win the starting job.
semaj33 0 Posted June 15, 2006 Packers | Herron getting time at fullback Tue, 13 Jun 2006 21:10:35 -0700 Mike Spofford, of Packers.com, reports Green Bay Packers RB Noah Herron is getting snaps at both fullback and halfback in practice this week. Head coach Mike McCarthy said, "He's a very natural, instinctive football player. I think he's had a tremendous spring and I think he definitely has a place on our football team if he continues to perform as he has." Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted June 15, 2006 As I have said repeatedly on this forearm, Gado may not even make the team. Sorry. Go ahead, flame me again.
Zackattack 0 Posted June 15, 2006 Ahman will win his job back. He is by far the most talented of the backs there.
wizbang 10 Posted June 15, 2006 I wasn't all that impressed with Gado as a runner and think he will get beat out by Green when he returns. I'd be shocked if a healthy Green played behind Gado. However, getting cut? Gado is NOT a scrub. What he did last season was very impressive. In 6.5 games he had 582 yards with a decent 4.1 YPC and 7 total TDs. That puts him on pace for over 1400 total yards and 15 TDs. Pretty impressive. Meanwhile, before his injury Green played 5 games, gained only 255 yards with a 3.3 YPC and ZERO! Yes ZERO TDs. Yes ZERO TDs. i agree. and starting running backs come out of nowhere all the time (see: Domanick Davis, Rudi Johnson, Willie Parker). Just because i guy wasn't a 1st or 2nd round pick, doesn't mean he can't find success in the nfl.
hoffdaddy 1 Posted June 15, 2006 Ahman will win his job back. He is by far the most talented of the backs there. Would you rather have 60% of Ahman Green in his prime? Gado may well lose the job, but I have a very hard time believing it will be to Green. Can you name any running backs who have recovered nicely from this injury? I couldn't/can't think of any. However, there are few D lineman right in the Green Bay organization who had their careers derailed by this injury. Green will never be the same, and I'm just not convinced this is an inury a RB can recover from.

KFFL http://www.kffl.com/player/11429/nfl/general?addplayer=11429 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- seems like he is working every where...nothing worth worrying about..... I was going to brign this up too. Herron is working out all over the field and in his words "gathering tape to send out to the league" Davenport has also been asked to dive deep into the FB play book Upon return of everyone to health the battle will be to see who backs up Green and Henderson for the last 3 RBs slots. The two odd men out will come from Gado, Herron, and Leach. Considreing Leach is still the best lead blocker odds are either Gado or Herron are gone. Three weeks ago it was a no brainer it would be Herron but Gado has struggled mightly with the new zone blocking scheme (a problem that he had in college that prevented him from starting too). Time will tell but my money sayt he depth chart is Green Davenport Gado Henderson Leach I wasn't all that impressed with Gado as a runner and think he will get beat out by Green when he returns. I think it is a forgone conclusion that if Green cannot win the starting job that he will be cut. His new contract is writen in a way where the packers walk away clean if that happens and Green receives nothing but the 500K signing bonus. That said Green very successfully ran the zone blocking scheme in high school and at Nebraska and is way ahead on the learning curve part. Time will tell about the leg but the rest should be easy enough.
Greedo 13 Posted June 15, 2006 hoffdaddy's got a good point about Ahman's injury. If Gado can stop fumbling and pick up the scheme, neither of which is a given, he can be a feature back.
swamp dog 0 Posted June 16, 2006 www.kffl.com "Packers | A. Green could be on the hot seat Thu, 15 Jun 2006 09:15:48 -0700 Rob Reischel, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers RB Ahman Green (quadriceps) could find himself off the team before the 2006 season starts. If years of wear-and-tear and his injured quadriceps render Green a shell of his former self, Green could find himself fighting for a job. RB Samkon Gado will likely stick around and the team will likely keep another young running back on the roster, such as RB Noah Herron. If that is the case, Green could find himself in a battle with RB Najeh Davenport for the final roster spot."

In any event, I think he has a really good chance to be at least 90% of what he was. He really does not have that much mileage. People act like he has way more than he actually does. As far as I know, James did nothing more than tear his ACL, an injury that is much, much easier to come back from. The ACL surgery has evolved so much, that players can and do return from it. The only case I can find on a quad rupture, which is what Green has, is Buckhalter.
