FlaHawker 24 Posted June 29, 2006 Who cares? The point is that they're graded and based on that grading, certain refs are allowed to officiate the playoffs, and certain refs are not. Which 100% debunks your original point, which was totally bogus. Why not focus on the important aspect here: your utter and complete wrongness? So much more entertaining than you trying desperately to find another tangent to cling to in pathetic avoidance. In the immortal words of soccer broadcasting, "Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllll! If all universities allowed students to grade one another how meaningful would the degrees be? Please explain how having NFL refs grade one another is more beneficial to the state of officiating than if an objective outside body graded the refs. I'm curious to see your response. LunaTick 30 Posted June 29, 2006 I do agree that it's good that the refs have someone that over looks them. In the NFL they have basically free reign, no one does anything if they screw up. Some of the FIFA refs are just pathetic though. Like they say, there's two types of refs: bad refs and worse refs. Teams can submit to the league office every week tapes of officiating issues. Sometimes this results in midseason or next season adjustments. Perhaps keeping a few out of playoff work. But just as the case with FIFA, it does nothing to alter the score or outcome of the game as last played. Have you never had the league issue your team an apology for bad calling at the beginning of the week?

The same NFL that concluded the game was proiperly officiated. That makes sense. Do you not see a conflict of interests? Teams can submit to the league office every week tapes of officiating issues. But just as the case with FIFA, it does nothing to alter the score or outcome of the game as last played. Have you never had the league issue your team an apology for bad calling at the beginning of the week? Exactly. The NFL officials call an incompetent game, which can ultimately cost a coach and his staff their jobs, and what does the NFL say,"oopppss, sorry!" And then next week said incompetent ref and his crew are back out butchering another game.
Brad GLuckman 519 Posted June 29, 2006 Seriously FlaHawk...you gotta stop whining dude. I know where you're coming from, any fan does. There isn't a fan in the world who hasn't felt, at one time, that there team got screwed over by refs. The "tuck rule" comes to mind as the most significant. I understand it was the Superbowl so it hurts that much more. But it's time to let it go and move on to next season. Continuing to whine about isn't going to change the outcome, and you're not going to convinvce anyone you're right, who already has there mind made up. football_scooter 0 Posted June 30, 2006 btw, this time I actually did watch, and the pass interference in the end zone on DJax was textbook - in slow motion, you see him push off. If DJax had the brains to keep his hands down there, the Seahawks might have rings right now. He had no need at all to even touch him...but he did and then there was yellow. NFL's a tough league, eh? And Roethlesburger's TD was fine. Nose of the ball broke the plane. Sorry.

murf74 461 Posted June 30, 2006 You have a bet starting after you tell me if it is for a month or a week The bet begins with this post at 8:25 AM EST on June 30th and will extend to July 30th at 8:25 AM EST. Bet is for 1 month. No posting, replying to or any general talk in regards to the Superbowl and the NFL officiating. I will be watching you. And no skating around anything either by just being vague cause everyone knows your angle. Just relax and look forward to the season, but I honestly don't expect you to be able to do this. Winner choses the losers signature line they will have to keep until after week #1 of the regular NFL season. If nobody loses, nobody changes a signature. You will feel like a new man by the end of July.
football_scooter 0 Posted June 30, 2006 Wow, of course in slow motion it would seem that Jackson pushed off......... BECAUSE IT WAS IN SLOW MOTION!!! I;m gonna go out on a limb here and say when you see things in slow motion, certain actions are magnified. And if you are gonna argue that then you are a focking stupid, pathetic, 49er fan.......oh wait, you are! Uh, no - it was offensive pass interference in regular speed too. In fact, during the game, and immediately after the catch, I called it. My friends argued, I bet one of them $10 and I won. As soon as DJax hand touched a jersey not his own while reversing direction, it was a textbook push-off. Which 99 times out of 100 is going to get you a yellow flag, especially if it happens right in front of the official. Now, was there a small amount of acting involved to make it look more like a push-off? Perhaps, but it's irrelevant. If DJax hand wasn't on the jersey, the flag wouldn't have been thrown. Hopefull this helps to clear up your apparent confusion and lack of understanding of the rules of football. As for that potty mouth of yours, might I recommend a bar of soap? Timinator 0 Posted June 30, 2006 At least two bad calls: 1) D-Jax pushed off. I didn't expect it to be called since it did not help him get open. The DB was toast and deserved the TD. 2) Roethlisberger admitted on Letterman the next night that he wasn't in. However, Seahawks lost the game with their cry-baby antics and Horrific two-minute drills. It was amateur hour at the end of both halves. Good teams overcome. Bad teams whine about officials. Green Bay got hosed in the 1995 NFC Championship game in Dallas. The Cowboys were savvy and got all the calls down the stretch. Instead of crying in their beer, the Packers came back to dominate most of 1996. That's what Seattle and its fans need to do.

DJax didnt need to push off but he did so right in front of the offical. Could have gone either way. Official made the call. D-Jax has nobody to blame but himself. The 2 calls I thought were bad were the holding in the red zone and the chop block? call on Hasselbeck after the int. (that one was really bad). But I agree 100%. Winners overcome and losers cry. crocodilecj 0 Posted July 1, 2006 FIFA actually does something about dumb@ss refereeing?? Imagine that. What a concept! The NFL and NBA need to take a lesson from FIFA? Seriously, the crap@ss officiating in the Super Bowl and other playoff games (Colts-Steelers, Pats-Broncos) and all last regular season really needs to be dealt with. Last season as a whole was the worst-officiated I can remember. Way too many d!pshit calls and head-scratching Replay interpretations. Time for the NFL to do with its officials what MLB does with its Umpires...i.e. Umpire school etc.. I swear the NFL brings in a bunch of old fogies (except Ed Hockulee) who can't see as well and can't keep up with the speed of the pro game. They need to restructure the way they train and bring these guys up and set up a year-round salary structure so we can get 20 and 30 year-old officilas who are faster, quicker and have better eyesight and then we don't have a bunch of 40-something Insurance Salesmen and Business owners who've already made their living and can afford to do NFL officiating as a moonlighting thing for fun and a few extra bucks. Make it a full time vocation that one can do as a career starting out of college. The NBA officiating is simply hopeless. But the NFL can still do soemthing and won't. And for the record, I am a Seahawks fan and NO, I don't think there is any NFL conspiracy. Levy should be fired from his job for his calls, no doubt, but there's no conspiracy. Just a couple of zebras who are blind bastages. Levy didn't blow his run-defense assignment and allow Parker to set a SB record for length of TD run. Levy didn't do anything to allow Roethlisberger to complete a pass on 3rd and 27 to set up his phantom TD run and Levy didn't fall asleep in the secondary and let a Pro Bowl WR like Ward run free on a gadget play to end the competitive phase of SB XL. FIFA is better than the NFL in dealing with it's officials. A weak-@ss Euro sport played by thespians has more integrity than the most popular Sports entity in the USA!! How does that taste, Tagliabue!
