More killed in Iraq ...

What kind of Bushsh*t is this?

It's a standard Limbaughian line used by neo con chickenhawks to ease their minds about young men needlessly dying in the quagmire.

- Not really sure where you're getting that. Looks like Detroit averages about 360 murders a year. ???

Sorry, it was the entire state of Michigan, and I'm trying to find the source currently.

I know I read this last week, but can't remember where.....looking.

10 million people live in Michigan. We have about 125,000 troops in Iraq.

Doesn't matter now that I know your context. thx.

Is it fairly safe to say that more people have been killed violently (not natural disaasters) in Iraq than in ANY other country since the invasion? I'm wondering if there's an African (Darfur, etc.) nation with more murders,

Sometimes healthy people in Detroit think they can park in the handicap spot just because they borrowed dad's car.

True, but everyone in Iraq is there for a job that requires killing (basically).

I don't think everyone in Michigan does that.

Here's my point, and I'll retract my 'fact' if I can't find a link.

They are in a ###### WAR.

More Americans have died from OTHER AMERICANS in Michigan in the same time span.

I dont' EVER wanna see somebody die or hear about an 18 year old kid getting killed over there.

But our technology and advanced warfare techniques, etc, are saving lives of our boys every day.....

it is a war people.

First, you've convinced that traffic accidents and doctor errors most likely push Michigan's death count above the US troop deaths in Iraq.

Second, you don't seem to realize that the Humvees that they have to scavage for parts for and the body armor that's on backorder for 10 years. These troops are treated as expendable and I take it personally because I did my time in service myself as likely my children will have to when college time comes.

In the US we have parents paying, at their own expense, to get protective devices to they're boys in Iraq.

You were the one who brought up Michigan. I'm just pointing out that there's no point in comparing soldier casualties in Iraq to murders in the state of MI, since there are about 80 times more people in Michigan.

I think more people would be willing to tolerate the casualties in Iraq if it seemed like we were there for some reason. What bothers people IMO is the sense that soldiers are fighting a war that was based on a lie with no real goal or resolution in sight.

I enjoy reading posts and the arguments within so much that I've avoided posting in the past. However, outside of a hillbilly bar, this is the most moronic, non sequitur argument I've ever seen!

Many of us are angry that so many lives have been carelessly wasted in Iraq. Your conclusion to this is we must hate the troops??? No, we're angry becasue a lot of young American men and women have died in support of an ideology formulated by neo con chickenhawks in a DC think tank ten years ago. We're angry because these same chickenhawks cherry picked inteligence to scare Americans into a war that has destabilized an already volitile middle east and eroded our moral authority around the world. We're angry that any person who stands up to voice a dissenting opinion is automatically labeled a coward by those in the administration who avoided service when America called.

Like many before them, the men and women who protect our freedoms so unselfishly deserve our respect and admiration. It's too bad the only respect and admiration they receive from the current administration is for a well timed photo op... A little man playing soldier in a flight suit.

<_<

He violated 17 UN resolutions over a ten year period after the cease fire from the first Gulf War.Come on,get it right.

Of course, there are over 90 other countries who have violated UN sanctions - multiple times - as well. Israel actually leads the pack in that department.

Israel, Turkey and Morocco each violated ten or more UN Security Council resolutions in the same time span. In fact, at the begining of the war, more than ninety resolutions were currently violated by countries other than Iraq.

gocolts, there are these things called "books" and "newspapers" that you can buy really anywhere. They are a big help for anyone trying to be pragmatic with regards to our current state of affairs. Reading them can give you a different perspective than would say Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Rielly or, in your case, The National Anti (Closet) Gay Quarterly.

If O'Rielly is too liberal, what public figure best lines up with your political views?

That Mussolini guy had a lot of good ideas. - A little too liberal though. Probably should try Stalin.

Don't worry...his dumbass will try to find some way to squirm his way out of it.

Out of what? I said the same thing there I said here. I had to get my SS number when I was 10 years old because I got a job as an actor on a TV show.

But my point is, to say we have an "all volunteer" military, is, at the very least, misleading.

Just as an extra, but I did have lines. The show was called Father Murphy, starring Merlin Olsen.

Why are you mad? shouldn't you be thankful for a military force that is voluntary? Some countries require military service when a person reaches 18 years of age. The country I live in does not, so... what is your beef? Why do you hate our military so much? I am getting sick and tired of you clueless people speaking for the fighting forces of the United States. If you know better... spill it. If not, let the troops do their jobs and shut the fock up!l Quit whining about the numbers and stop the idiotic protests of fallen troops. For crying out loud, dead soldiers have nothing to do with gays. The military has a job to finish, get out of the way. :(

Agreed.....they should go over there and fight as well, and help the tote bored go higher.

;)
