PHILLY homers.....Will you see Invincible?

Recommended Posts

I know you're just trolling but every team in the NFC East could potentially finish in first OR last. Right now I'd say the Cowboys look the best on paper, but Philly has the best QB in the division and they might have the best defense, too.

Not trolling at all. Between the Giants, Skins and Cowboys, the Eagles are only the 4th best team. I actually think the Giants will win the division behind the best QB in the NFC, Eli Manning. Skins second.

Watch.... :shocking:

With Tiki hinting it may be his last year and playing soft, and Aikman ragging on the Giants and Manning for not being able to practice with his WR's at minicamp, I think he's heading for a let down.

Watch.... B)

you lost all credibility. mcnabb is the hands down best. no question about it

although he is progressing nicely, lets wait til this guy wins 1 playoff game before you annoint him the best qb in the nfc.

that craptastic 3 int, 0 td performance against the panthers last year just shows he's not ready for the big game.

i'd take bledsoe over eli as well for this season

It happened long before that post.

As for Eli, he has the Manning Curse. He can't get it done when it counts.

That's a joke. I'd bet my house that Eli finishes with better numbers than Bledsoe.

Eli is primed for a breakout season. He's got the tools, the weapons, and now the experience. Watch in awe, my friends. And I'm not Giant fan either, I'm a Chargers fan, the guys that gave Eli to the Giants in exchange for Rivers B)

I don't see Dolphins merchandise flying off the shelves. So until you can offer some proof that the Dolphins have more national appeal than the Eagles, just shut up while you're behind

This statement below further proves what I've been saying, that the league is a 'what have you done for me lately'. The Eagles and the Patriots have been in the news, the Dolphins not so much. Nobody cares about the Dolphins anymore, and whatever fans they had outside of Florida seem to be interested in the Eagles and Patriots stuff now :(

I don't think merchandise translates into fans. Many people own Eagles mercandise because it is "cooler" to own a McNabb and Owens Jersey (in 2005 when the article was written) than it is to own a Ronnie Brown or Curtis Martin jersey. Mike Vick's jersey's sell well because he has that "cool" factor amongst people in my demograpic (young males). Merchandise does not necesarily equal fans.

Merchandise sales translates to appeal, which may or may not translate to fan base. If it's cooler to own McNabb or Owens than obviously those players appeal to those people, and while that doesn't necessarily make those people a fan of the Eagles, it shows the Eagles players, at least, have more appeal than say the Dolphins players. But it's impossible to argue fan bases since there's no way to measure that. The original argument was that the movie should have been made about a team that has more appeal. Right now, the Eagles have more appeal than most other teams.

You should have stopped right there. Major League was about the Indians, Jerry McGuire was about the Cardinals, etc. The success or failure of the movie won't have anything to do with the team. It does have something to do with the city, and like I said Philly is pretty hot right now as a location for movies and TV.

I agree, but it took a while to explain to GB why the Eagles have more appeal to people than the Dolphins. All this other talk about fan base was moot really, but I was bored.

Major League was about the Indians cause they needed a joke of a team for the story. At that point, the Indians were a joke of a team.

I guess when they were looking for a team where a 5' 8" schlep bartender can be a wide receiver on an NFL team, they chose the Eagles

fan base was the whole argument, but you're too stupid to realize. More people will see a movie about the Cowboys than the Eagles. That was my whole point.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people saw Ace Ventura.

Also, I liked Invincible better the first time they made it when it was called The Waterboy.

i would love to take a bet on this of some sort but i cant, since

A. you're probaly a welcher

and

B. this would lead me to rooting for bledsoe, which leads to me rooting for the cowboys, which leads me to rooting for T.O. to succeed, and i would rather eat a bullet before i ever do any of that under any circumstances

but honestly (and i hate to say it), but bledsoe is a solid qb, who has 2 great receivers (i loathe the guy but T.O. is the best reciever in the league), a great TE, and a solid running game, in addition to a better o-line then years past. the only thing slowing down bledsoe is parcells love for running the ball (of course until julius jones gets hurt).

and if you look at their stats last year, eli's were barely better (threw 100 yrds more, and one extra td), but what do you think will happen to bledsoe's stats once T.O. is added on?

but still, bledsoe will have more pass yrds and td's then eli.

Bledsoe will not play a full season. Last year was a mirage, his arm is shot.

It opens Aug 25th, along with nothing. I expect it to finish 3rd, behind "Beerfest" and "How to eat fried worms". Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I'm taking my wife tonight. I'm going to buy extra tickets so it comes in first since you're such a douche.

1998 1999 2002 2003 2004 2005

Miami Dolphins 9 9 6 8 6 5

Philadelphia Eagles 6 3 5 5 9 10

Since we are talking about data here I thought I would add an important piece to look at. This is from the poll website:

In theory, with probability samples of this size, one can say with 95 percent certainty that the overall results have a sampling error of plus or minus 2 percentage points of what they would be if the entire U.S. adult population had been polled with complete accuracy.

Also, the Poll is titled: "What are your two favorite National Football League teams?" not “What is very most favorite team?”

I think there was a problem with the link as well.

Fixed Link

So it seems for the most part the difference of a few percentage points mean that the Fins and the Eagles are relatively the same in popularity in those years. Now 99 and 05 there is a larger difference which at this time can not be accounted for. One thing we can see from the data (which is very limited) is that there are two trends. From 98-05, the Fin's popularity is trending down and the Eagles up. Without the more data these are just observations and not conclusions. I think to this point no one has offered conclusive data to show which team is more popular nationally. The only conclusion that can be taken from the merchandise sales is that more people are buying Eagles' stuff. But considering the other teams at the top of the sales are the more popular teams nationally, one can infer (but not conclusively) that the Eagles are on the edge or in the group of more popular teams nationally.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people saw Ace Ventura.

Also, I liked Invincible better the first time they made it when it was called The Waterboy.

Actually I think it was called The Garbage Picking Field Goal Kicking Philadelphia Phenomenon .

Fortuantely that is how I spendtime with my family. I converted my wife to a football fan in college. If you can't beat em join em. :dunno: Now I am working on my 9 month old daughter. Hopefully she will see some sort of championship in here lifetime.

And still, the Phillies are in a playoff race but the Red Sux are done.

The worse thign that can happen to the Phillies (long term) is making the Playoffs this year. After 93 the management just kept saying, "Look what happened 93, we wern't even trying and we made the WS. If we keep doing that we will keep going to the WS." :dunno: I am tired of the "competative talk". :wall: Competative for what, losing in the first round. Come on give me a championship.

The NL is garbage. The Phils are right in it but Boston just isn't that good. The worst part for Red Sux fans is the way you got humiliated and demolished by the Yankees. Time to start crying about how New Yawk outspends everyone and hope baseball fans don't notice the Sux #2 payroll.

Bill Simmons had an interesting stat on the Red Sox

Take away interleague play (16-2) and the Orioles (11-1) and they're 11 games under .500 (42-53) against everyone else.

i like how the fallon comment is being ignored..

how can any football loving fan NOT want to see this movie?...who wouldnt want to do what Papale did?.. I admit, I didnt know enough about him before this movie came out..seeing the real guy on the NFL network, im hooked..this guy is awesome..

saying that you wont watch this movie because its based on an Eagle is no different than saying you wont watch ATL because its full of black people...

just shut up and go...appreciate the fact that ###### Vermeil had enough balls to do what George Allen used to do..and hold public tryouts..

Mark Ciardi used to pitch for the brewers for part of 1987-from u of maryland..he wasnt so good  ..but im impressed that after baseball he helped produce The Rookie (Jim Morris was originally a Brewer draft choice)..Mark brought that idea to the table, Miracle and this one...mark also pitched in Fever Pitch..

if you disliked the rookie or miracle..well, fock yo self..this movie is going to be sweet...

**i didnt watch ace ventura and dont consider that a Dolphins movie..

to be technical, brewer fans could consider Major League to be a brewers movie since it had Bob Uecker, Pete Vuckovich and was filmed at County Stadium in Milwaukee... regardless, the movie was great from start to finish..
