texasmouth 1 Posted September 21, 2006 I have been reading about it, sounds pretty interesting. It is $39 for the e-book. Just wondering if anyone had all ready purchased it and what they thought about it. Calorie shifting, the basis of the diet works, it is a large part of a lot of diets or exercise programs, it just isnt called by that name.

Brown Eyed Girl 1 Posted September 21, 2006 Hmmm... Interesting. I've never heard of this particular diet. I have heard that changing up what you eat after every few days tricks the body's metabolism and speeds up weight loss. In other words, if you eat cereal for bkfst all week long, the following week you should change it up to something like an egg beater omelette, then the following week - back to cereal or something else. As for the 4 meals a day... not so sure I'd agree with that for myself. I have found the best benefits lie in eating several small meals/snacks throughout the day instead of 3 or 4 heavier meals. Sticking to low-fat choices and small portions are key here. As far as condiments go, I think that is just a given. Salsa and mustard have little to no calories and are great to use in place of heavier counterparts like mayo or sauces over some foods. Just my .02 cents. Eat less and exercise, that's it. There is no magic combination of food that is going to help. Diets are a great scam. Find peeple too lazy to exercise and offer them an easy way out. texasmouth 1 Posted September 21, 2006 This isnt your typical diet scam. You still have to eat healthy food, the info says specifically that there is no magic diet solution. You geeks are so quick to lash out at things and try to sound so smart. The point of the diet IS eating less and exercising. The difference is it tells you which combinations of food to eat at which time to get the most out of your metabolism. It helps train your body to work faster and more efficiently. You cant eat any junkfood and you have to exercise. The point is it helps you lose weight faster by maximizing what you are doing. It isnt an eat all you want diet or a pound of ham and bacon diet. Wow. If they admit there is no magic solution, they must be completely honest. The combinations of food part is bunk. "train your body to work faster and more effeciently"? Do you have any support for this that doesn't come from someone who is trying to sell you something? You're paying them to tell you to eat less and exercise. Spergon Wynn 0 Posted September 21, 2006 Anything that isn't pure calorie counting sucks for me, because I want to keep my weight loss forever. If I can't make it work within the cycles of what I already eat, why bother? Spend that money on a book or software that counts calories instead. If you write down everything you eat you WILL lose weight. I started in June and am down 25 pounds, and my body mass index is now under 22 . I am about to switch from losing weight to maintaining weight, which just means that I will get to increase my calorie total for each day. I don't give a crap what I eat so long as I come in at my calorie total for the day. All that "low fat" crap is just for people who eat too much anyway - if you aren't eating too much you can basically eat whatever you want without health issues. I did it by buying the CalorieKing foodlogger/database for my Palm Treo (there are tons of other programs out there, and books/pads of paper work the same), so it's on my cellphone that I always have with me. the key: Logging foods is enough of a pain in the @$$ so that you will eat less if you stick to it. And you will quickly learn what foods you can eat tons of that don't have a lot of calories. If you need a motivational ebook, go for the free Hacker's diet one. I didn't say this is what I do - just that I heard this mentioned before. I happen to agree with you and I follow this rule myself. Smaller portions, lower-fat choices and exercise. Works for me. The best thing about this is that by getting your body used to making these healthier eating choices, you can maintain the weight you want to be. Simple enough. There are plenty of these that are free, I have been using one for about 7 months now. Sparkpeople.com has a calorie and fitness tracker that are both free. I didnt ask for anyone's wieght loss advice, I just wanted to know if anyone had heard of this diet and if it worked for them. I have never used it, I have never purchased it, I just heard about it last night and checked it out. Someone I know said it was interesting, so I read about it and it sounded just that "interesting." Most people use calorie shifting in their diets and don't even realize it. I read about calorie shifting years ago and a lot of diets are based around it....south beach diet, body for life, etc. It is basically switching up what you are eating and when so you body doesnt try to store unneeded calories as fat. I swear, the majority of the people here are so focking condescending. It's 2006. Exactly when are people going to stop believing crap like this? Eat less and exercise, that's it. texasmouth 1 Posted September 21, 2006 I think the "idot" part comes from spending $39 on a diet book. Exactly wh I wanted to see if someone else all ready did, so I could get a copy........ The Body for Life book by Bill Phillips was $17.99 and it sold millions of copies. The most ridiculous "diet" on the planet Fatkins diet sold even more copies.
