Is everyone pulling out of your gambling sites?

Recommended Posts

I got an email the other day from Absolute Poker. com. (i'll post it later...blocked at work), but it basically said, it's business as usual at Absolute for them and their US customers. That they don't think the law will effect them, etc etc etc....also something about being a privately held company versus a public company. Not sure what is and isn't true, but from the tone of the email...it sounded pretty good for continued poker playing at AP.

I have a balance on a couple of sites. Should I go ahead and pull my money?

Definitely not. The biggest concern of decent poker players like me is losing fish like you. Please don't go.

You should be concerned. Seems like every time you play actual humans, you get your ass handed to you.

The real question is WHEN will the internet servers quit supporting those sites? That's when it'll really be over.

Subject : Absolute Poker is here to stay

Absolute Poker is pleased to announce that it is business as usual. In light of recent changes outlined in the media we also want to take the opportunity to let you know that playing at Absolute Poker is both safe and secure. Please rest assured that it is always our primary objective to protect both your funds and your privacy.

Business continues at Absolute Poker

As the 4th largest online poker company we continue to welcome all Poker Players! AbsolutePoker.com is confident in its ability to continue to offer US customers the very best in Online Poker with the fastest secure deposit and payout solutions. All new and existing customers should be 100% confident in playing with the very best at www.AbsolutePoker.com.

AP Advantage

Importantly Absolute Poker is a privately held operation, which gives our business model more flexibility and creativity in operating that our publicly held counterparts don’t have. Furthermore, the Safe Ports Act passed by the US Congress on September 30th neither prohibits nor makes it illegal for any US customer to transact with AbsolutePoker.com and therefore the customer experience at AbsolutePoker.com will not change. Our business continues to run as normal and our executive team expects to see the business to continue to grow in both the short and long term.

Payment Security

We are exploring all of our options with our existing payment processors and ensure any existing or new customer that your funds are safe and secure. Indications are that many of our payment providers will be unaffected by this law and their business will also be able to operate uninterrupted and unimpeded.

If you have any questions on anything related to your gaming experience at Absolute Poker please feel free to contact support@absolutepoker.com. Our support team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There's no reason those gambling sites can't just send you check in the mail, like they already offer. It's the NetTeller types and the easy direct checking account stuff that will be stopped (from my understanding). Depositing money will obviously become more difficult once they eliminate those. But I'm not too worried about my current account - just send me a check.

I've heard that when the LOCAL INTERNET SERVERS are forced to remove the sites, that's when the on-line poker will really end. No more on-line poker rooms - no more sports gambling sites. The only way to place bets or withdraw will be over the phone. I have no idea when any when the law will actually be enforced.

At least, that's my understanding of it. Anyone else know anything about this? :dunno:

Neteller is based in Europe, this US law has no standing with them.

I kept my money in the sportsbooks I use.

I use Neteller and think it will be fine.

They have 270 days from when the bill is signed to formulate the rules.

Next football season might require a cashier's check.

-I use Firepay instead of Netteller.

-Caribsports doesn't give a flying fock about that toofless law, so I can bet to my heart's content.

-I can access pokerroom through caribsports for my poker fix.

So, no I am not worried.

FirePay Will Stop Servicing American Poker Players

Company Will Still Handle Nongambling Transactions

FireOne Plc, the company that runs FirePay, announced that it will not do business with customers in America who use its service to fund their online poker accounts after George W. Bush signs the Safe Port Act.

Language was inserted into the Safe Port Act that will make it harder for players to deposit money into their poker accounts. To visit CardPlayer.com’s archive of legislation stories, click here.

Bush is expected to sign the act within two weeks and possibly as early as Friday.

When you access a website, it is being accessed outside the united states. You are requesting information from a server in Costa Rica or something. None of these gambling sites have servers in the US.

Well, strike one maybe. But I'm guessing they'll still allow transfers into offshore gambling accounts, otherwise I think their statement wouldn't have been poker specific. We'll see.

Due to the fact that the Poker Network does not want any players from the US, the option to transfer to the Poker Network is removed. Eventually access to the Poker Network will be removed.

They aren't all clamping down. Mainly the ones that are publicly traded in other countries have chosen to leave. The privately held companies are not leaving. There is a list with the status of most of the well known sites here:
