kutulu 1,564 Posted October 11, 2006 I got an email the other day from Absolute Poker. com. (i'll post it later...blocked at work), but it basically said, it's business as usual at Absolute for them and their US customers. That they don't think the law will effect them, etc etc etc....also something about being a privately held company versus a public company. Not sure what is and isn't true, but from the tone of the email...it sounded pretty good for continued poker playing at AP.

Strike 4,134 Posted October 11, 2006 I have a balance on a couple of sites. Should I go ahead and pull my money? Definitely not. The biggest concern of decent poker players like me is losing fish like you. Please don't go.

GobbleDog 829 Posted October 11, 2006 The real question is WHEN will the internet servers quit supporting those sites? That's when it'll really be over.

GobbleDog 829 Posted October 11, 2006 There's no reason those gambling sites can't just send you check in the mail, like they already offer. It's the NetTeller types and the easy direct checking account stuff that will be stopped (from my understanding). Depositing money will obviously become more difficult once they eliminate those. But I'm not too worried about my current account - just send me a check. I've heard that when the LOCAL INTERNET SERVERS are forced to remove the sites, that's when the on-line poker will really end. No more on-line poker rooms - no more sports gambling sites. The only way to place bets or withdraw will be over the phone. I have no idea when any when the law will actually be enforced. At least, that's my understanding of it. Anyone else know anything about this?

art schlichter's bookie 0 Posted October 12, 2006 I kept my money in the sportsbooks I use. I use Neteller and think it will be fine. They have 270 days from when the bill is signed to formulate the rules. Next football season might require a cashier's check.

When you access a website, it is being accessed outside the united states. You are requesting information from a server in Costa Rica or something. None of these gambling sites have servers in the US.

But I'm guessing they'll still allow transfers into offshore gambling accounts, otherwise I think their statement wouldn't have been poker specific. We'll see. UncleHulka 0 Posted October 14, 2006 Due to the fact that the Poker Network does not want any players from the US, the option to transfer to the Poker Network is removed. Eventually access to the Poker Network will be removed.

Strike 4,134 Posted October 14, 2006 What do ya make of this email when it seems all the other sites are starting to clamp down on the US market? They aren't all clamping down. Mainly the ones that are publicly traded in other countries have chosen to leave. The privately held companies are not leaving. There is a list with the status of most of the well known sites here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat...e=0#Post7509074
