Tax cuts are a good thing IF (and only IF) there are corresponding cuts in spending. You can expect a short-term uptick in revenues (that always happens), but you can't spend like this Congress (and Administration) has and expect that there is no impact. Unless Congress changes its spending ways, then we are in trouble.

 

You can say that the Dems are going to spend more, but I don't see any proof of that. I KNOW that the Reps have been spending out of control and that is a bad thing.

I think campaign finance and ties with lobbyist are two issues that desperately need addressed in Congress. I do not see the republicans addressing these issues. I am not sure if the dems will but I know the cons aren't. We also need to get spending under control and put the checks back in checks and balances. The President is doing whatever he wants with no one to answer to.

Well his sone asked him for a raise to $30, they reached a compromise and he now gives him $25. To him, this was a 25% increase yet in washington this would be a 50% cut.

I'm not saying that the Republicans are perfect by any means, I just think it's easy for the Dems to attack either way on this issue. Either we are cutting medicaid/ healthcare/ food stamps and starving the ones that need it the most, or we are spenind like drunken sailors.

I want to leave this job without the partisan blinfold and the understanding that the government is there to help it's most needy. It would be wonderful if both parties could work together for the greater good. Unfortunately, there seems to be too much at stake with majority power and that seems to be both parties emphasis rather than working for the people they represent. Not all are like this, and neither party is any better than the other. But I'm still confident in saying I agree with the things the Republicans are doing, and I think the efforts are being made to curtail spending. We should not be at war. Iraq is an albatross, pure and simple. We never finished our mission in Afganistan and we have a new mess that might make Vietnam look like Woodstock.

 

Homeland Security is a mess as well. They have lined the pockets of companies like Halliburton by playing off the fears of the masses.

No other nations compare to the kinds of corporate taxation that manufacturers and other businesses must deal with than in the US. Think of all the money being saved by nations that have moved to Mexico and India from relief from the tax burden. Obvioussly there is some benefit to having those taxes, but you are just kidding yourself if you think the money received from the rollback in federal taxes has not helped the economy. Is it the single determining factor? Of course not, but the more money companies can decide how to use on their own the better. Taxes have put people out of business, that can't be ignored.
