Sad thing is, could have been halfway decent if my middles held up in Tennessee-Arkansas Over and Texas Tech/Oklahoma games. Lost both by one point each!

Six favorites... Notre Dame and USC will be out to prove something after the Lousiville loss. Boise State is desperate to get into the BCS... Southern Miss is underrated and will roll... Navy is better than Eastern Michigan by a longshot and should kill them... Oregon State is one of the hottest teams in the nation after two road wins and the upset of USC, and UCLA is a sinking ship...

 

4-2... not bad. Especially considering the parlay I had on Notre Dame and USC coming through.

College Hoops YTD: 6-4

 

I just saw some early lines on the three games I like:

 

1. Arizona -2.5: This is the first really good game this year. I've been eyeing this game all week and thought the line would be around 2 or 3 points. Sean Singletary is a great player and Virginia is going to be improved, but they don't have enough talent to beat a very good Arizona team. I think Mustafa Shukar has matured enough to know he can't take the stupid shots he has in previous years. Chase Budinger is another in a huge group of freshmen this year that will make an impact immediately. I think he has a huge game and Arizona wins by 7 or 8.

 

2. Dook -29.5: Greg Paulus is out for the game, but that doesn't mean a damn thing in this game. Everyone thinks that Dook is in a "rebuilding year" with Redick and Williams gone, but don't think this team isn't still loaded. I think Coach Chachefski will want to show the college basketball world that the Dookies are just fine and that they are still to be feared.

 

3. SMU -2: The Mustangs return pretty much every one from last year's team. While their record wasn't impressive I thought they were better and now they have a better coach. Yes, Doherty is one that has a temper, but he has shown that he can coach given what he did at Notre Dame and what he did early on at UNC.

When did Arkansas grow a defense, out of curiosity? My predicted score for that game was 31-28, so their offense was about what I expected, but they were beastly on defense. Crompton played well, but he was getting hit almost every play. I'm definitely looking at the Hogs at any good price against Florida.
