BMoney 0 Posted December 8, 2006 This is probably another thread about GM's but since he was the HC and GM, I would nominate Mike Sherman. He put the the Packers in the crapper for 5-8 years with his decisions. thats MY vote.... people here are already ripping mccarthy but they need to relax...sherman drove this team so far into the ground..its going to take awhile... sherman singlehandedly killed the lambeau mystique with his shoddy playcalling..home vs atl..gb never loses..4th and goal at the 1 or 2...lets take the pts and get a fg...there has been no mystique ever since.. and ive said it time and time again..packer fans think the al harris int vs seattle was great..(want the ball and we're going to score game)..but that play led to more harm than good here... seattle couldve beaten phily the next week.... instead..gb went and had 4th and 27 and never won another playoff game..it gave sherman 2 more years..had gb lost that game..sherman wouldve been out the next year at the latest... Chonkyfire 0 Posted December 8, 2006 I want to say June Jones but then I should just ramble off previous Falcons coaches (Jerry Glanville, Marion Campbell) since they were all bad but not the worst ever. Either way, the Falcons need to be represented in this hall of shame (for everytime someone mentions never having back-to-back winning seasons - 8-8 does not count )
Tripenny 0 Posted December 8, 2006 His name came immediately to my mind when I read the title of the thread. Mine, too. I remember all the press about how he was bringing "Marine Toughness" to the Vikes, and they showed him making the players do these pullups as he screeched at them. I've always been ambivalent toward the Vikings, but I cringed with that little martinet in charge.

keeptwo 0 Posted December 8, 2006 When Buffalo hired former Detroit interim coach D1ck Jauron, it marked the first time any HC hired by the Ford family in the last 45 years had gone on to obtain a HC job after leaving the Lions. Take your pick amongst these 12 who passed through the NFL graveyard of coaches: Harry Gilmer Joe Schmidt Don McCafferty Rick Forazano Tommy Hudspeth Monte Clark Darryl Rogers Wayne Fontes Bobby Ross Gary Moeller Marty Mornhinweg Steve Mariucci Ross has the best face on the nfl film clips
LunaTick 30 Posted December 9, 2006 Les Steckel for the 84 Vikings certainly must be mentioned. The only good thing about Les Steckels ONE AND ONLY year as a head coach (1-15) was that it brought the great Bud Grant (if only he had won a darn trophey! ) back for one more year! His name came immediately to my mind when I read the title of the thread. Mine, too. I remember all the press about how he was bringing "Marine Toughness" to the Vikes, and they showed him making the players do these pullups as he screeched at them. I've always been ambivalent toward the Vikings, but I cringed with that little martinet in charge. I just had to post this as big as possible. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Steckel 3 degrees, Social Worker, Human Relations, and Political Science. ???? all of these other characters that are being mentioned had 100 times more clue of what it took to be a head coach than Les Steckle. All I have to say is this, he has only Head Coached 1 NFL season. 1 NFL season. Has never Head Coached before or since. Sure was nice to see Bud back, but better yet, brought up into the spot light coach Jerry Burns. One of the best abusers of the fbomb of anyone ever in the NFL. If it were not for Schnelker (who is a genius in comparison to this bum they have now as a HC). (Sad to say it, but why didn't we keep Tice as a HC?)
KingofBeer 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Rich Kotite I remember him saying before the season started that his goal for the year was to go 8-8 Are you freaking kidding me?!!! How about making the playoffs!?!!
birdbrain3X 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Lou Holtz. He made Joe Namath run the option offense for the Jets in Namath's final NFL season. Needless to say, the Jets only won 3 games because of this. How could a head coach make the slowest QB in the league run the option offense and expect to win?????????? Namath's final NFL season was with the Los Angeles Rams in '77. Why are you Cowboy fans always so uninformed? Ray Handley runs away w/this one. He inherited a SuperBowl champion and ran it into rebuilding in one year. hyness 0 Posted December 9, 2006 John McKay No way. Before the era of free agency, it was impossible to build a franchise. Look at how hard its been for the Texans and Browns with free agency. Sure, the Bucs lost the first 26 games, but McKay had a 5 year plan and he had the Bucs in the NFC title game in just 3 years. They made the playoffs 2 of the next 3 years. The Bucs were the laughingstock of the NFL for the next 15 years because of Culverhouse's ownership not John McKay. He was a great head coach and one of the funniest... When asked by a reporter about the execution of the offensive line after a loss "I'm in favor of it." When talking to reporters towards the end of the winless 1976 season "We can't win at home, we can't win on the road, so we were going to petition the league for a neutral site." berven 0 Posted December 9, 2006 A couple of bad good coaches come to mind. Buddy Ryan was a great defensive coodinator, but as a head coach, his contentious nature was as much his adversary as anybody on the opposite sideline. He chased Randall Cunningham out of football. Marty Schottenheimer has a shot at becoming the worst bad good coach of all time. He has amassed two hundred career wins without earning a ticket to the Big Dance. At least Marv Levy's and Bud Grant's teams made it to the Super Bowl before tanking.

He benched Randall Cunningham for RODNEY FOCKING PEETE! Ray Rhodes was NFL coach of the year in '95. Randall ran himself out of football for awhile. He did things when Rhodes got here that he now calls "immature and stupid" and he said he regrets them and Rhodes had no choice but to do what he did. But actually it was John Gruden who really benched Cunningham because Rhodes let him run the whole offense. Gruden stated this year on an NFL films special that he wished he had been more patient with Randall because he did believe that he had great talent. Rhodes was an O.K. HC at best but he doesn't belong on a worst ever list.

BMoney 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Tom Flores (Seahawks) and Joe Walton (NYJ) was pretty pathetic tom flores was a big piece of fock..it was bad enough that he was an ex-raider...but then he went to seattle and was an idiot... ray rhodes in gb is a nice pick...he didnt use a time out once when he needed to..hes good as a coordinator..but as a head coach..the game moves too quick for him... he stunk..and his daughter tells my cousin in school that her dad wanted to get out of GB because of the racism... really..playing THAT card?...fool...if he could coach, he would have a street named for him, regardless of color... now hes a hawk but is stil on my 2007 death pool list...his heart is playing the prevent defense.. LouisC9999 3 Posted December 9, 2006 I also vote Barry Switzer. Going for it on a 4th and 1 around your own 20 is something you do in Madden 07, not real life. You mean "Going for it on a 4th and 1 around your own 20 TWICE is something..." I've never forgiven Jerry Jones for letting Jimmy Johnson go after winning two consecutive Super Bowls
Counterfit 0 Posted December 9, 2006 I know that his record isnt that bad but I always though that the worst coach I've ever seen was Mike Tice, He's definately not a big picture guy. I personally hate the fact that he's now a coach on my Jaguars.

dominus florenzus 0 Posted December 9, 2006 Ray Handley runs away w/this one. He inherited a SuperBowl champion and ran it into rebuilding in one year. Amen! Ray Handley is without a doubt the worst coach of all time. From Super Bowl Champion to 5-11... losing to terrible teams... he singlehandedly took the Giants OUT of the dominance that they enjoyed in the mid to late eighties.....I hate him!!!!
