skins56 0 Posted January 11, 2007 I used to play on Party Poker and loved it...I had a few people tell me they still play there somehow but were vague in the details. Anybody still play there? If not, I've heard Poker Stars...if anyone plays there I'd like to hear what the experience is like. I tried to play at a few other sites just to try them while Party Poker was available but I always went back to PP because it was just more enjoyable for some reason. cbfalcon 825 Posted January 11, 2007 I was winning a lot of money (relatively speaking) on Party Poker before they kicked us all off. Then after the bill was signed, I had to move over to Full Tilt. Great game selection. No problems at all. except I busted out in like 6 weeks. That was October I think. Game's seemed exceptionally tough there. Haven't redeposited. You can still play on Full Tilt, Bodog, and Poker Stars I believe. Maybe a few others.

GobbleDog 996 Posted January 11, 2007 BoDog.com still has poker rooms filled with people. Despite having moderate success, I quit playing because I found it incredibly boring. I noticed that all of my poker decisions started becoming automatic (fold on x, bet on y, raise on z)... But in any case, it still works. When they passed the anti-gambling bill, I thought something dramatic was going to happen like all the sites would shut down or I wouldn't be able to make a deposit from my checking account anymore.. nope. They all still work.

skins56 0 Posted January 11, 2007 Thanks guys...I think I'll try one of these out this weekend. I liked Party Poker because of the interface, I played on Paradise Poker (I think) back in the day and it just seemed more difficult to follow, i.e. see how much was bet, know how many chips everyone had, even whose turn it was (and I'll admit that I even liked having the characters at the table). Anybody know which one these we can still play at has the most user friendly interface?

GobbleDog 996 Posted January 11, 2007 I've only used BoDog.com so I don't have anything to compare their graphics to, but I wasn't impressed. A green poker table with faces sitting in the chairs. Nothing special.
redtodd 7 Posted January 11, 2007 Absolute is OK. I like it because I don't like playing high stakes, and they have some very low stakes tables. It is a bland site, but I have gotten used to it. The tables could move faster though.

It is a bland site, but I have gotten used to it. The tables could move faster though. I'm back at absolute as well. The speed is my only complaint as Absolute made me a bunch of cash when I started playing there years ago. Absolute is probably the most real representation of true card play I can point to online. I finally had had it with Full tilt and Ultimate bet. Those two sites are the most inaccurate representation of true cards. They pit more big hands together than I have ever seen. All places have bad beats, but these two are insane. Also I group Doyle's room in this madness....bad beats galore. If anyone wants a referral for Absolute, they give you a nice bonus. Redtodd, Kutulu and myself will happily hand one over. Also, I am bobprobert if you ever want to seek me out for a game.

I've switched to AP also, but I would disagree about the the 'true card play'....It is amazing to me how many hands are decided on the river at AP. I don't see a ton of big hands together though. I've been playing the limit ring games there and doing pretty well. I think I can make private tourny's now if we get enough geeks over there interested. It's been awhile. Why not direct deposit with a checking account? That's what I did and last time I checked it still works... of course I went down to my bank and opened a new checking account just for that purpose. (no point in giving your real checking account when it's free to open a new one)

kutulu 1,676 Posted January 19, 2007 Hello KUTULU, Thanks for playing at Absolute Poker. As you prepare to hit the tables, we’d like to quickly inform of some changes, for US customer, regarding payment methods. Recently, a number of payment service providers have decided to stop allowing transactions for US customers with Absolute Poker. It is important to note that this is NOT a problem with Absolute Poker or the service we will continue to provide you as a poker player. Your funds are 100% safe and secure at Absolute Poker and are held separately in a leading European financial institution. Any time you make a deposit, your funds are held specifically for you and are never mixed with operational funds. Because of the recent exit of these payment providers (Instadebit, Nexus & Central Coin) there may be some temporary inconveniences that we would like to take the opportunity to explain and apologize for. Please read below for the FACTS about payment solutions at Absolute Poker: InstaDebit: FACT: As of Thursday, January 18, 2007, InstaDebit has chosen to stop allowing transactions to be deposited from US customers. FACT: InstaDebit will allow two weeks for Absolute Poker to process withdrawals to customers within the United States. FACT: InstaDebit’s decision to abandon the U.S. market is also the result of factors related to their internal operations. Nexum and Central Coin: FACT: As of Thursday, January 18, 2007, Nexum and Central Coin have chosen to stop processing transactions for US customers. FACT: Nexum and Central Coin have made this choice as a result of factors relating to their internal operations. However, life here at AbsolutePoker.com goes on as normal and we are pleased to offer you a 100% reload bonus to a maximum of $500 on your next deposit when using either Visa or MasterCard, using the bonus code RDB1 See you at the tables. kutulu 1,676 Posted January 20, 2007 Urban Legend. Well, not quite...got a free 10 bucks. Got that up to 35. Then got a 25 dollar referral. From that initial 55...I got it up to 1400. It took over a year though. Took a long time to build it up to between 5 and 6 hundred. Then the last few months went on a tear and got it up to 1400. Cashed out 1K and then lost the remain 400. On Absoulte I've cash out 2300 and only put in 150 of my own money. But it took awhile. Right now, three games and I'm up .60 cents. I miss playing the 20-100 dollar games. How do you get the avatar on AP? I don't remember exactly cause it's been so long, but it's pretty easy, I remember. I think you have to submit it to AP and they need to approve it. You can also only change it one time.
