paulinstl 296 Posted February 22, 2007 I have no idea who would have wanted to go see that concert anyway. See some overrated guitar player with half of a face and some bloated, bleached, middle aged, no-talent ass clown lothario lead singer. BLEH!

There is a whole thread dedicated to the VH Trainwreck. Congrats, on getting more replies as I can tell this will make you very happy.
Juniper 0 Posted February 22, 2007 I was saving my money to see the 1977 version of Lynyrd Skynyrd tour. Oh wait...57% of that lineup is dead, their drummer was booted 15 years ago and the two surviving 50 something members have been milking the band's name at State Fairs for the past 30 years. It still would've been better than seeing some gimp, his son and brother try to get along onstage with a guy they fired 23 years ago.
Rusty Syringes 478 Posted February 22, 2007 There is a whole thread dedicated to the VH Trainwreck. Congrats, on getting more replies as I can tell this will make you very happy. That thread mentions a radio station report that the tour might be "indefinitely postponed." Nowhere in it does it say that the tour has been "canceled," as reported in Rolling Stone. Thanks for your continued representation for dumb asses everywhere. I was saving my money to see the 1977 version of Lynyrd Skynyrd tour. Roth quit because he didn't like all the synthesizer stuff that Eddie was bringing into the music. As for the reunion tour, the only thing I was looking forward to was the YouTube videos. I saw Van Halen with Roth during the 1984 tour, so I've seen all I need to see of them. The Police tour is another matter.

kutulu 1,701 Posted February 22, 2007 Oooooo, SNAP! Also, there appears to be conflicting reports about your "breaking news" VAN HALEN's 'Best Of' Collection Indefinitely Postponed - Feb. 22, 2007 Rhino Records has indefinitely postponed the release of VAN HALEN's "Best Of (1978-1984)", the first single-disc compilation exclusively spotlighting 1978-1984, the group's original David Lee Roth era. The album, which was originally set to coincide with VAN HALEN's March 2007 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, was supposed to contain over an hour of remastered classics from the albums "Van Halen", "Van Halen II", "Women And Children First", "Fair Warning", "Diver Down", and "1984". The VAN HALEN reunion tour, which would have teamed the band with original frontman David Lee Roth for the first time in 22 years, was also postponed "indefinitely," according to Pollstar.com. Sources confirmed the news on Tuesday (February 20) after a number of radio stations began reporting rumors that the trek was in trouble over contractual issues. One source said that despite an announcement earlier this month by VAN HALEN's management that the tour was officially happening, a deal was reportedly never finalized between the band, Roth and the tour's promoter, Live Nation. No dates for the tour had ever been revealed, but there were rumors that it would begin in Las Vegas in late April. VAN HALEN will still be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 12 in New York City.

parrot 789 Posted February 22, 2007 Most likely, Sammy is somewhere not giving a rat's ass. Yeah, I suppose after being the impetus for the previous reunion and seeing it become something of a trainwreck due to Eddie, Sammy would have had no interest in this reunion he was left out of. Rusty Syringes 478 Posted February 22, 2007 Take a look at these two videos, and they're all the assurances you need that a Van Halen reunion with Roth would be a horrible idea. and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Un7_BTvkYU Be sure to watch the last one all the way until the end. His stage mannerisms are so hammish and annoying, although I will give him props for pulling off one of his kicks. But his singing, which has never been all that good, is absolutely horrible in the second video.

Singing was never what made him good and now all the rest is gone, because he's 50, he's nothing but an old crappy voice.

Rusty Syringes 478 Posted February 22, 2007 The more I look at these David Lee Roth videos, the more I think he's the Chuck Norris of rock 'n' roll. I don't like Howard Stern, but this was focking funny:
Recidivist 1 Posted February 22, 2007 The more I look at these David Lee Roth videos, the more I think he's the Chuck Norris of rock 'n' roll. I don't like Howard Stern, but this was focking funny: That was a funny bit. It also serves to perfectly illustrate how crappy Stern's show is. He is about as useful as a laugh track: I don't know about his audience, but I can certainly discern what was funny about the prank call; I don't need him to spend the next 10 minutes of his show dissecting a comedy bit to explain why it was funny. The phone called worked on two levels. It was a parody of David Lee Roth as well as a good prank phone call. That dude sounded just like him, too.
