kutulu 1,727 Posted March 16, 2007 You mofos are killing me. If this things starts now, there may be some long pauses between picks since: 1 - most posters don't post during the weekend 2 - most posters will be watching the NCAA tournament 3 - we've said all along it'd start on Monday Don't forget Saint Patty's Day
bigtuna 0 Posted March 16, 2007 Another year and another Lions moron will NOT draft a QB (saying we have too many other needs). This a mortal lock.

I was putting peer pressure on Riceman and he crumbled. I pitty the fool. Monday is good for me .
MTSkiBum 1,629 Posted March 16, 2007 I think we should break the no trade rule for swamp dog. The rule was implemented to keep this thing realistic, but now, from the rumors we are hearing is that detroit is going to trade down multiple times. This is my opinion of course, i could see how this could be tricky and/or get out of hand, its just i am throwing it out there.

This is my opinion of course, i could see how this could be tricky and/or get out of hand, its just i am throwing it out there. I completely disagree. If we break the rule for swamp dog, we have to allow other trades. Trying to keep up with trades in a mock like this will only lead to mass chaos and anarchy (think torches, pitchfork-wielding farmers, etc.). Even if the Lions really want to trade down from #2, there's no guarantee that they will or even can (after all, they'd need a trading partner). Swamp dog will just have to draft realistically from the #2 spot, as if the Lions were unable to find a draft-day trade-partner--maybe Brady Quinn, Gaines Adams, Joe Thomas, etc... RicemanX 20 Posted March 16, 2007 Didn't the texans announce the signing of mario williams before the draft started? I'm fine with waiting until monday, but I made my choice.

Mack 1 6 Posted March 17, 2007 ...I made my choice. If that's the case, you mind making your choice official by putting it in the Draft Thread?
9-Route 0 Posted March 17, 2007 i see we start monday. ill be ready. to preview the saints draft: roman harper was drafted out of alabama last yr, and only played like 5-6 games. mike mckenzie is a yr older, but is still a strong, physical corner who bats down passes. bullocks is a speedy young player who has lots of tackles thus far, 3 career picks in 2 yrs, and 5 batted passes each yr. fred thomas is a 12yr player who has been a nice cb1, cb2, and now cb3. he is short and gets beat deep. with the tagging of charles grant (although it is reported he is visiting the bucs), continued development of young stud will smith, the line seems fine. a defensive tackle may be warranted (jonathan sullivan didnt pan out). i like injecting the secondary, as you play carolina (ssmith), tampa (galloway, clayton, and maybe calvin johnson), and atlanta (jenkins, crumpler) twice a yr. there are 3 guys (or at least 1 of 3) i think can fall to 27th pick: landry--safety--lsu. guy had a fab combine, has a bloodline already showing playmaking ability (brother dewan in baltimore), could probably play corner/safety/hybrid. nelson--safety--florida. stud showed he had nfl speed (4.35 40-yd time), and has been a playmaker in tough SEC. griffin--safety--texas. guy was a complement to michael huff for natnl chmp team at texas, bringing strong physical style with instincts and tough hitting/tackling. i like these 3 players most for the saints, especially with the development of the offense (wrs found/exploded last yr---colston, henderson, copper) under payton. we'll see what falls. And it was a horrible choice. Congrats! Bad teams drafting WRs high is not too wise.
kutulu 1,727 Posted March 17, 2007 And it was a horrible choice. Congrats! Bad teams drafting WRs high is not too wise. True enough, but eventually there will be a WR worthy of going very high...regardless of how "good" the team is. I happen to think Calvin is a player you get on your team when you have the chance and worry about the other sh1t later...no he won't turn the team around single handed in his first year, 2nd year, etc., but IMO he is the real deal and he would be one of the pieces I would start to build around, if I was steering the trainwreck known as the Oakland Raiders. This type of hype happens every year with a couple of players and the draft gurus are creaming over them. Fir some reason the hype fades almost immediately after the draft. In Oakland's situation, I would draft the franchise qb and hope for a Vince Young type of rookie year. That is the best way to help them crawl back to respectability. A WR with their current qb situation and offence in general is a marginal improvement for the team overall. my .

Johnson #1 overall. Of course Oak. needs a QB....but I'd suggest there is more risk with Russell or Quinn at QB than there is with Calvin at WR. Maybe he will be all hype, maybe he won't. my .
kutulu 1,727 Posted March 18, 2007 RAIDERS FOCUSED ON JOHNSON? There's increasing talk in league circles that the Oakland Raiders are planning to select receiver Calvin Johnson with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Johnson is the best prospect that we've ever seen. He's big, he's strong, he can jump, he's blazing fast, he has soft hands, and he's not a ######. Beyond the fact that Calvin is everything that Randy Moss ever was, and at least one key thing Moss isn't, the simple reality is that the Raiders surely want to turn it around sooner rather than later, given the advancing age and declining health of owner Al Davis. And Johnson is in a much better position to make an instant impact than quarterback JaMarcus Russell. Of course, Johnson can't be added until Moss is long gone. And, preferably, Jerry Porter, too. Why risk letting either of these malcontents infect a guy who is, for now, the rare exception to the rule that receivers generally are pains in ass.
