phillybear 366 Posted March 15, 2007 If nothing else, I can stir the pot. This draft needs more controversy. I have posted many times in the past my distain for Guns & Roses. I am a LA Guns fan. If you don't know history, the name of the band came from a collaboration between Traci Gunns and Axl Rose. Before the band hit big, Axl Rose pulled a power play, and kicked Traci Gunns out of G & R. Traci Gunns went on to form LA Guns. True, Slash is a good guitarist. Traci Gunns is much, much better. LA Guns never achieved the commercial success of Guns & Roses, but LA Guns put out some of the best hair metal music of the era. Cocked and Loaded is a brilliant hair metal album, with tons of great guitar work by Traci Gunns. If you have never listened to it, I suggest that you do. They had a couple of minor hits off it: Rip and Tear, Never Enough, and their biggest hit, Ballad of Jane, a stupid ballad. Basically, I appreciate the artistic merits of the most talented member of Guns & Roses who never enjoyed their commercial success. They put out 4 or 5 albums with minor fan fare. Also, while you guys keep picking classic rock albums, basically taking all RBs in the first couple of rounds, I might zig zag and go other genres, and take WRs and QBs. Bwahahahahaha!!!! I am in your heads. Admit it.

Now, to dwelve into the weirdness of my cheatsheet. 1. chiefs lagging in the 1st round is the reason we replaced him - how the fock did he get unreplaced and end up the 13th man, only to lag us out again? Fock that. No offense, as I'm sure he's a swell fellah, but you're either in or you're in. Twice now he showed that he ain't in. 2. focking Paranoid! You ASS! Now I am really, really, really mad. My cheat sheet is getting shorter and shorter and I am getting more and more irritated. going back to work for a couple hours - I'll check in later.

phillybear 366 Posted March 15, 2007 I have always been a big LA guns fan also (I did know the history) I saw them in a small club in Philly during their Hollywood Vampires tour. Dam, they made guitar work look so effortless. It was mesmerizing. I still have a fond memory of hair metal. Personally, grunge was the best era of music, and it was time to move on. ALSO, ALSO, #@!!Q!@^ I'm in all of your haids.
kutulu 1,676 Posted March 15, 2007 When slayer is considered "classic rock" I know I'm focking old. Thanks - thanks a lot. Kerrang! magazine described it as the "heaviest album of all time", Metal Hammer magazine named it "the best metal album of the last 20 years", and Q magazine ranked Reign in Blood among the "50 Heaviest Albums of All Time"....The record is regarded by critics as one of the most influential and extreme thrash metal albums of all time...On finishing the artwork a member was not happy with the final product, until one member showed their mother, who said it was disgusting. The band decided to keep it as they thought they were "onto something". The cover art was named in the "Top ten heavy metal album covers of all time" by Blender magazine in 2006. phillybear 366 Posted March 15, 2007 bostonlager doesn't have to change the thread title. guitarmonkiy is on the clock. My haid nearly explodededed. Also, also, it was no surprise that kutula took Slayer with one of first two picks. I don't listen to them, but I understand the pick.

kutulu 1,676 Posted March 15, 2007 Also, also, it was no surprise that kutula took Slayer with one of first two picks. I don't listen to them, but I understand the pick. Phyllisbear going out side the box with Paranoid. The song "Angel of Death" has appeared in several movies, including Gremlins 2 when the gremlin Mohawk is turning into a spider. Jackass: The Movie during the car stunt, and in the 2005 Iraq War documentary Soundtrack to War, creating an account of the role of music in the contemporary battlefield. The half-time riff was sampled by Public Enemy in their song "She Watch Channel Zero", and featured in the multi-platform video game Tony Hawk's Project 8. Nolan Nelson, who selected the soundtrack for the game asserts; "one of the greatest Heavy Metal songs ever recorded. Don’t know who Slayer is? I feel sorry for you." guitarmonkiy 0 Posted March 15, 2007 it's a way better choice, and IMO more pivotol album than the White Album all day, any day. I expected Rubber Soul to go well before it. Nice pick. Bastehd. FWIW, I would've picked Rubber Soul over the White Album even if it had still been available. I couldn't decide between Rubber Soul and Revolver (having not realized that Revolver was already taken). Looking back on it now, I'm glad I ended up with Rubber Soul. Screw popular opinion. It's like drafting a fantasy football team by ADP. Sure, an album is supposed to go in a certain round. But we all have vastly different cheat sheets, and you might as well take albums YOU prefer rather than guess what others like. Quality albums trump popular albums, and in the end, this mindset will win out.

Looking back on it now, I'm glad I ended up with Rubber Soul. you should be - that was the album that cemented the Beatles as a supremely talented band and moved them beyond mindless bubble gum pop. It was truly their breakthrough album. That said, would you people PLEASE STOP NAMING OTHER ALBUMS?!?!? It's ruining this focking draft. Seriously - 2 I have wanted have now been named at various points and it's really focking inconsiderate. Please - edit your posts if you're guilty of this. kutulu 1,676 Posted March 15, 2007 I pick: Master Of Puppets - Metallica sorry Kutulu Since the Engineer driving this trainwreck is swilling beers at the moment, I will bump this thread with the following: "METALLICA left the comfort of HQ this week to descend upon the greater Los Angeles area to begin recording their ninth original album. This is the first time they've recorded outside of the Bay Area since they spent an eternity at One On One Studios recording the 'Black' album in '90 and '91. The last couple days have been devoted to each band member working out the right sounds, including Lars [ulrich, drums] who remembered to turn on the snare and Kirk [Hammett, guitar] who played a solo! The big, shiny red button was finally pushed today — and the wait begins.' METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told a New York radio program on March 2 that the band will lay down 14 songs for its ninth studio album, which the group officially began recording on March 12. Unlike the troubled, turbulent sessions for the band's last album, 2003's "St. Anger", Ulrich told Launch that pre-production for the new effort has had a whole different vibe. "It's frighteningly tame (laughs)," he said. "The four of us show up and we hang out and we have a great time, and there are no psychiatrists in sweaters, there are no film crews, it's very much like it used to be. It's pretty mellow around here. All that 'St. Anger' stuff seems like a movie (laughs)." The group plans to work in the studio until early June, take a break for its European tour, then finish recording in August. As for whether METALLICA will release the new album in 2007, Ulrich said, "I'd like to try and get it out this year, I hope we can get it out this year. If it doesn't come out this year, then it will be out at the very beginning of next year."
