football_scooter 0 Posted March 22, 2007 Jimi Hendrix, Axis: Bold As Love 1. EXP 2. Up From the Skies 3. Spanish Castle Magic 4. Wait Until Tomorrow 5. Ain't No Telling 6. Little Wing 7. If 6 Was 9 8. You Got Me Floatin' 9. Castles Made Of Sand 10. She's So Fine 11. One Rainy Wish 12. Little Miss Lover 13. Bold As Love In my humble opinion, this is Hendrix greatest musical achievement. It was a clear departure from the blues-roots Electric Ladyland, and a total emersion in music as a 5th dimention. His songwriting on this album was so far and away superior to his earlier work that it boggles the mind how he took the leap that he did to get here. Lyrically I think it is his best music, and the chord changes and the way he transitions from chord to chord intertwined the solo and melody and groove all into something extraordinary. Little Wing is one of the most covered tunes in history, and Bold As Love is rapidly catching up. His use of metaphor in Bold as Love is stunning, awe inspiring genius. Little Miss Lover rocked out, and If 6 Was 9, Ain't No Tellin and One Rainy Wish are so tasty...not a bad song on this album folks. I really can't understand how Electric Ladyland was taken before it, and moreover how Axis didn't go 1 pick later. When the round made it back to me I figured it was safe for a few rounds while y'all went off on your rap tangent, but I could wait no longer...this album simply deserves to be taken here or higher, so I pulled the trigger. This may be more of a steal than Allman Bros was.
SUXBNME 1,499 Posted March 22, 2007 Little Wing is one of the most covered tunes in history, Rightfully so Personally I liked SRV's cover better then the original I can't believe that you didn't give me a thumbs up for my Sex Pistols selection :middle finger:

football_scooter 0 Posted March 22, 2007 Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger great pick. I had my finger on the trigger of this album several times but thought, "nah - it'll be there in the 8th..." Should i make the last pick so you guys can keep rollin or let D House make it.......your choice I have my selection ready to go. I say make it - you guys are a team now. b'sides, I'm back and we might actually get back to me this way... most over rated band ever. talent-wise, I agree totally. Relevance is what makes this album worthy of a 2nd or 3rd round pick. It is an important album for the time - it inspired other musicians. I totally respect its inclusion, even if it's one of the 10 I'd rarely listen to.

football_scooter 0 Posted March 22, 2007 I don't care if it finishes when I'm 72, I want to go 15 rounds. Too much talent deep to have such a short bench. I thought this was agreed on, but recently I saw something about 10.... [nigel] but this one goes to 15? [/nigel]

Big_Pete 0 Posted March 22, 2007 How the Hell is someone just now picking Abbey Road? Course I didn't pick them either. on my list, I had both Willie Nelson RHSC and Abby Road, and wanted to pull the trigger on them SOOOOO focking badly, but I kept talking myself out of it by thinking that if they didn't get picked by now, they'd be good late round blow-everyones-socks-off picks. Guess I was wrong. polski rules is up! guitarmonkiy, get ready

D_House 0 Posted March 22, 2007 Nice Focking Pick............... Thanks! So so far: Led Zeppelin - IV (Possibly the best known hard rock album evah!?!) Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA (best straight ahead American rock album of the 80s!) Garth Brooks - No Fences (not a big country fan, but I know this one was HUGE!) Boston - Boston (not crazy about this pick, but another huge selling record) Beatles - Abbey Road (my second favorite album of all time, after Sticky Fingers! my pick as the Beatle's best album) Not bad. football_scooter 0 Posted March 22, 2007 So far... Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique Queen: A Night at the Opera The Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach Jimi Hendrix, Axis: Bold As Love I wouldn't go declaring him a winnah just yet. I'd rather have my ears put out with burning needles than hear a Garth "Chris Gaines" Brooks song. But we'll see if it hurts or helps you in the long run. Prepare to be dazzled for the later rounds, folks.
Big_Pete 0 Posted March 22, 2007 1.3 Big Pete: Metallica - Master of Puppets 2.10 Big Pete: Def Leppard - Hysteria 3.3 Big Pete: Dr Dre - The Chronic 4.10 Big Pete: Eagles - Hotel California! 5.3 Big Pete: Garth Brooks - Ropin' The Wind Master of Puppets = THE GREATEST heavy metal/ heavy rock album of all time. It started the whole era which most of us here still love Hysteria = The most #1 hits on any single album of all time. EVER!!! so it has to be considered the greatest album of all time, out doing even the reverened Beatles, right? The Chronic = again, THE GREATEST rap album ever. If not for this album, rap wouldn't have gained any popularity..... umm.... considering that, maybe this album did more harm then good? Hotel California = Right up there with the Zeppelin albums as far as acceptance and popularity. Ropin' The Wind = It may not have been the springboard for Brooks, but it is to his music career, what Master of Puppets was to Metallica's. It has his most hits on it out of all his studio albums. There needs to be something said about that. Prepare to be dazzled for the later rounds, folks. That's what I'm talking about! I've got some doozies that nobody will see coming. guitarmonkiy 0 Posted March 22, 2007 See this is what focking sucks! I'm on deck, and Polski will probably pick at 7:45 in the morning right as I'm heading to work. Then I won't be able to pick until 5 and everyone will be pissed off at me. I'm another "Wish You Were Here" fan. How the hell did "Animals" go higher?!? YIKES! There are another half dozen Floyd albums between "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals". And "Animals" is on the wrong side of that half dozen. Sorry man, but if I'm going to be "stuck on a desert island" then I'd rather have what I think is a better, more enjoyable album rather than the one that is more popular. I actually have a mind of my own. :ninja: Regardless, it's all in fun, so if you don't like it go fock a duck. Great advice for most of you outsiders following the draft and spewing you're little tidbits and opinions in here.
RicemanX 20 Posted March 22, 2007 In the end, people will be voting for the albums they'll have to listen to over and over again, not the best selling albums. I can make an argument that my albums as a whole are better...

kutulu 1,676 Posted March 22, 2007 You just lost all the respect that I ever had for you in your musical knowledge / taste This is a very sad night for Sux I would bust that album within 10 minutes if it showed up on my island. Big_Pete 0 Posted March 22, 2007 Hell, I'll do it. Between picking half of Bronco Billy's albums and half of Polskis, I'll have picked a full roster! DONE! Just make sure to distinguish it in somewhat of an intelligent format such as. BroncoBilly's pick is: and then add your own personal flavor to your post, and the pick. just make sure we know who you are picking for. so .... GO.... what's Polski's pick? football_scooter 0 Posted March 22, 2007 so .... GO.... what's Polski's pick? I'm thinking it's time for a Polka sleeper...
Big_Pete 0 Posted March 22, 2007 I'm thinking it's time for a Polka sleeper... I want to know how many rounds this thing is going before I start breaking out the sleepers. I gotta know in what round I should start dazzling everyone. If it's 10, I'll start in the next few picks. If it's 15, then I'll wait till the later rounds. Oh wait... guitarmonkiy said he won't be able to make his pick til 5.... so even if somebody makes this pick now, we'd have to wait a while for the next person anyways. yeah, he said that, but give it a go anyways... .he might be able to sneak a peak at the draft. anything can happen
RicemanX 20 Posted March 22, 2007 arggg. i want to pick!
