Pre-draft visits should be especially important for Bush, who is sliding in the draft because of a second sugery on his leg this month. He won't be able to work out for teams. Each team can have 30 pre-draft visits. Mar. 29 - 10:03 a.m. ET Source: Boston Globe I think is interesting that they'd use one of their visits on him. I wonder if they'd actually consider him in round 1 (they always do unexpected things), or if they think he could slide to round 3. The Pats don't have a 2nd rounder. I wouldn't say it looks like a stone they've already got. Maroney's got size and is an all-around player but compared to Bush he is definitely more of a speedy guy. Bush outweighs him by about 30 pounds. I didn't know teams only get 30 pre-draft visits. That's interesting. Maybe they're using one on Bush because of the lack of game film on him from 2006. Bush is damaged goods by most accounts. Multiple surgeries for a broken bone, still limping by some accounts, needing a rod in his leg...etc. But he has talent. Wouldn't surprise me if they did something like this. They had 2 first rounders a couple years ago and traded one of them for a 1st rounder the following year plus some other pick. So, it seems like the type of move they wouldn't be opposed to. Who knows though, they may have taken one look at Michael Bush and thought "This guy will never play again". The Pats have been known to trade down in certain situations for picks in future years. Bear in mind that there are 30 visits that teams can host and that these are in addition to Pro Day's and the combine. This allows them to get a medical update on a player, put forth a potential smoke-screen, and to get to meet with a player that they did not get to see in other situations. It may be that they were looking at Bush at late first round before word of his 2nd surgery came out. Now, they are using one of those 30 to get an update. I think Bush could fall to Day Two. Despite popular opinion, he was far from a lock to be the third RB selected before news of problems with his injury came out. Boston 0 Posted March 31, 2007 One of the keys to success in the NFL is depth. You're always going to get injuries. Positions that seem stocked in August can look very thin in November (the Pats secondary last year is a perfect example). If you think there's not going to be injuries that take it's toll on a team you're living in dreamland. Therefore teams would be foolish not to check out all the talent available at every position. Whether the Pats are simply sniffing around a player who could be a value pick or they really like him isn't known. Yet, I would not be surprised at all to see the Pats add another quality RB into the fold. Maroney still is an unknown as far as being a 300 carry RB, Faulk has been injured two years in a row and while I like Morris I think he's best suited as a role player. The Pats are in pretty good shape at RB but it's a position that can still be upgraded if that's the direction they want to travel. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
