Jeter really is the untouchable one

Recommended Posts

and ARod has 8 homers and only one error on opening day. Yet, you have heard very little about Jeter's errors. If ARod had 6 errors like Jeter, the media would be ripping him. Before you go on about how valuable Jeter has been and how many rings he has, I know all of that. Huge Jeter fan. Just saying. <_<

I agree that A-Rod gets a terrible deal out of this, but Jeter has got the rings. If A-Rod exploded one postseason and the Yankees won a championship, he'd get more of a pass when he struggles. Til that happens, people will continue to get on him (unfairly IMO).

I don't think there is much Question Arod > Jeter. Arod should be the SS of the Yankees and they should get rid of that over-rated piece of trash Jeter

I've long thought that Jeter is the most overrated player in the history of baseball, maybe all sports. Remarkable if you think about it, being in NY and all. <_<

I agree with you. Arod would be getting bashed.

Jeter will be ok though. It's way to early

The other NY team...

Mets 8 Phillies 1 in the Bot of the 8th. <_<

Yeah... last year...we sure hated his .340 average, 14 dingers, 100 rbis, 118 runs scored and 34 stolen bases. he sure was overated! :)

Heard a good joke earlier today:

Q: What do Michael Jackson and Derek Jeter have in common?

A: They both wear a glove on one hand for no apparant reason.

That gets most people a hearty slap on the back for a good season, not MVP consideration. HTH.

Man... i'd HATE to have jeter...

who wants a guy who year in/year out bats over .300... has an OBP of close to .400 gets around 20 HR and 90 RBI while still stealing over 20 bases... not to mention scores over 120 runs each season...

man... those are some sh1tty stats...

not even going to mention post season stats or his ungodly cut off play vs oakland... boo to jeter

they should just give him to the cubs  he is worthless

so you don't want a guy who averages .317 BA 24 SBs 18HRs 123 Runs and 83 RBI per (162 game average... not stat divided by season) with a .389 OBP...

is it because he doesn't hit enough HRs or RBIs??? He's hits in the 2 spot and probably is currently best in the game at that... Making contact, hitting for average, stealing bases, and scoring runs... that's what he has to do for his team to win. And he has 3 gold gloves when the AL has been stacked at shortstop (previously arod, tejada, nomar, Young.)

you don't have to hit 50 HRs and have 150 RBI per season to be a great player

162 game avg? either he put up the numbers or he didn't. how many games does johan santana win with a 162 game avg? 120 perhaps?

He's a good player who has been surrounded by an all star lineup. he gets great pitches to hit. put him on a team like KC

and he's just another good player who would be lucky to score 100 runs in any season. Put Pay-Rod on a crappy team...oh yea

he was on one. and he's still great.

162 Game Average
This is an attempt to condense each batter's career into a single season's worth of stats. With batters this is easy. Just take their career games played and divide by 162 and then divide their career totals by that factor.

no.. that's just dumb... does he start 120 games every season???? johan santana averages 14 wins a season by this count.

is it so hard to believe that they can calculate stats to rule out outliers like injuries and hardly playing any games your rookie year??? it calculates stats per games played and multiplies it by 162

think about it... say AROD hits 40 homers this year... then gets injured and doesn't play a game next year...

would you say he averaged 20 HRs per season then??? no... you act like it isn't a legitimate way to calculate stats...

a commonly practiced stat... better known as career avg... so you never looked at the back of your baseball cards as a kid??? :D

that's why I don't include Jeter's rookie, or this year with my numbers.

If a player is injured then he is a wussy and that should be counted against him.

Ripken >>>>>> Jeter
