All right I'm in. I won't be around until round 2 though, So start drinking without me.

No draft prediction this year (It would be tough to top last years 2 for 2 on day 1 :first: )

However---

:argue: Darrel Jackson WILL be traded.

See you tonight.

;)

:ninja: still no phillybear

Hope he didn't get hurt in the middle of the interstate. I told him it was a dangerous place to sell jello shots.

:ninja:

Last night, I drank 1.75 Liter bottle of Bacardi. Got 4 hours of sleep. Ran my morning errands.

I'm grumpy. I'm hungover. Like usual.

My enthusiam for today's draft is tempered. Knowing that we are about to give away Darrell Jackson for nothing, and probably won't pick anyone until 6 hours after the draft starts...

I reviewed transaction to refresh my memory. Don't seem like we lost much in the offseason, and didn't sign much either.

Need areas:

Defensive backfield

Offensive line, specifically guard

Defensive line

Tight End

Obviously, with injuries, the backfield was a mess last year. Seemed like whomever we stuck back there looked completely lost.

I am very uncomfortable with the WR position, but I doubt this will be addressed.

TE is a mess. We got Pollard and Mili? Ugh. Is Mili still on the team?

Every year, I scream for Defensive linemen, and we can't find a decent one in the draft. Offensive line needs to be addressed, since we got some old guys in the lineup and at backups.

I'd like to upgrade at backup RB, with Morris only considered the scat back, but I doubt they'll do anything here.

This thread was busy the last two years. Today, crickets. I weep.

Well, Deion Branch is a nice consolation prize. But it still ruins my draft day.

Philly- Mili's retired.

We have Pollard, Hellar, and that Houston texan that always got hurt. TE's a must.

Olsen is still there. I do like Miller better. I don't care for that Miami TE hype. MILLER IS BETTER.

Guard and DT.

Eventually maybe depth. QB,RB,WR,DB's ---The usual

TE,G,DT is the must though.

If I gotta wait 9 hours for Seattle to pick. Then ESPN and Berman pulls his bullshit where he doesn't show the pick, or talk about it. I will never turn espn on again.

:ninja: There goes Miller. To the raiders.

I saw that Miller got taken. No worries. Remember, rookie TEs rarely make an impact in their first year in the league.

With our first pick coming up, most of the value picks are in positions we don't need. I do not like this scenario.

My best guess is we go DE, maybe Ray McDonald or Charles Johnson. Some decent CBs available too.

Just gotta take a deep breath, and take the best player available. I have no problem with that.

The guard from BC is still there. Beekman.

:dunno:

I don't have him in my top 100.

Other than the center Ryan Kalil, there is no offensive lineman worthy of a 2nd round pick. Wait until the 3rd for that.

CB and DE are the two value positions right now, with multiple options are both positions.

And there goes Eric Wright. Dam. Kalil and Wright were the best two values left. But Seattle would not have taken Wright due to character.

TRADE DOWN!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Also, at least 5 years in a row, when Seattle came up on the clock with their first pick, they went to commercial immediately. Let's see what happens this year.

Bush is still there

He's OK. I am suspicious that he might be a product of the system they ran at Louisville.

Josh Wilson, CB, Maryland. 5-9, 185.

Nice value pick. I had him ranked at #50. He was one of the three corners I like at this spot, with Marcus McCauley a little ahead of him.

Very fast. Can return kicks. I like this pick. :dunno:

Really beefs up our secondary.

Grant,Wilson,Green, and Boulware at safety.

Now Wilson to go with Jennings, Trufant and Babs at corner. We still have Herndon and Hunter.

Alot of bodies back there.

Now lets go Ben Patrick in round 3.

There goes Matt Spaeth. He needed to be better at blocking. But he could catch, and he is huge.

There were only 3 TE's I felt were worth my time. Miller, Patrick and Spaeth.

If we don't get Patrick. I'm gonna committ board suicude.

Just noticed, Carolina picks right before us. I think they have a TE need also.

3rd round. Brandon Mebane, DT, California; 6-3, 305.

Big guy to plug up the middle. Seems to have some athleticism, as he is listed as DL, so might be a tweener. I had him ranked in the 90's on my sheet, so not a reach.

Brandon Mebane. DT is a need. And I did have this kid as 1 of the 2 or 3 guys left I felt comfortable with drafting. However, I feel TE is the bigger need for us.

So while not greatly disappointed. I'm not thrilled either.

Let's see what's going on with DJAX, and what happens tomorrow.

TE is a wasteland at this point. Might as well keep waiting on it, and try to find a diamond among the lumps of marginally talented coal. Or comb through the cut TEs this summer.

I had a draft party so with about thirty people at my house it was hard to cocnetrate on the picks. But let me go over some observations.

1-I turned on ESPN at noon to realize that Keyshawn Johnson was going to be an analyst. I hate that jagoff so I immediately switched over to the NFL Network. I must say I enjoyed their broadcast. I like Mike Mayock better than Kiper and Eisner was more enjoyable than Berman.

2- I don't care that Cleveland traded back up in the first round for Quinn. I havce serious reservations about this guy. You don't pass on franchise QB's at # 3 with the ideas that the guy is gonna fall and you can trade back up and snatch him. The fact that Crennel ( a goomba of Weiss) passed on this guy at threee speaks volumes in my book. We'll see how it works out, but I don't think Quinn will be a franchise QB.

3- The Lions go for a another WR? I was a bit suprised they didn't trade out of this spot, especially with Tampa, but the CJ and Roy Williams will be a deadly combo.

As for the Seahawks, I like both picks. I was pissed Miller didn't get to the them at #55, butit appears they got good value with both Josh Wilson and Brandon Mebane.

I noticed the 49ers drafted Jason Hill so I'm wondering what is going on with DJAX. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Overall, not tremendous but solid.

My immediate thoughts. But the guy wasn't half bad. Alot better than that jackoff Irvin.

I don't care. I just like looking at his girlfriend.

I agree. Now that I reflect. Both solid picks, Our defense will be fantastic for years to come. My wanting a ET so bad was just clouding my judgement yesterday.

I read an interview with Nolan that said: "The drafting of Hill has no impact on the deal with Jackson."

*** Just so everyone knows. Jackson did pass his physical, and him and his wife stayed wherever they are over night. I'm expecting something to get done in a couple of hours.

I want Ben Patrick!!!

I also still feel we need a RG and somemore depth at DE.

From here on, assuming he's been checked out, and the staff feels he's alright. Mike Bush at RB would be excellent value (Dwayne Wright also) from here on out.

If we do deal Djax. We should pick up at least another WR as a camp filler anyways. Maybe a practice sqaud keeper. But another body would be nice.

Only thing is my list on WR's has been completely depleted. With Jacoby Jones and Mike Walker both being drafted at the end of the 3rd. (They were my 2 sleepers)

The only guys I see left worth taking a look at are David Ball. And alot people claim they see something in Aundrea Allison (I don't). But I think he's left too.

Oh well. Day 2:

I woke up this AM expecting a treat, and this thread really let me down

You buddy, have entered the twilight zone. :wall: A draft that Philly likes.

:D The good knews is you won't get another one for about a good ten years or so.

Josh Wilson - CB : I thought this was a superb pick, they get an instant playmaker at the return spot, and while he was a shutdown CB in college, he is likely going to be their nickle-specilist at this level. Too small to cover people like Holt and others, he is very fast, and actually tackles, does not drag-tackle. Seattle got a helluva ball player right thar...

Brandon Mebane- DL : Not very familiar with the guy, but from what I have read he stuff the middle very well, forces running backs off tackle, and is likely to translate that into the NFL. He is small in that he is only 6'1", and that will make it tough for him to read plays in progress since most OL in the NFL are enourmous. He is not a threat to rush the passer, but I suspect they are simply going to assign him the middle of the line and say "clog it"....and he will happily oblige....good pick at this spot..

9:10 p.m.: Receiver Darrell Jackson passed his physical with the 49ers on Saturday. He and his wife are remaining in the Bay Area overnight. He met with coach Mike Nolan and expressed his excitement about the possibility of playing for the 49ers. Still, Nolan repeated that the odds of the Jackson trade with the Seahawks being finalized are "50-50, at best." He said that the Seahawks have yet to agree to the trade terms. The 49ers are believed to be offering one of their fourth-round picks today. The 49ers have three tradeable picks in the fourth round at Nos. 104, 124 and 126.

I would love to see Jax in a 49'e uni. I have SMith in two dynasty leagues and Jax would improve the mediocre WR corps on that team, maybe get them some value this year, but I would not sign him to more than a year..... :dunno:

I entered the draft with low expectations. And I didn't drink that much yesterday.

Without a first round pick, and with Deion Branch already in the starting lineup, I just wanted value picks, picks that weren't reaches. So far, so good.

But we have all day Sunday to complain about.
