GobbleDog 997 Posted May 31, 2007 I knew they wanted him, but I didn't think he'd actually go for it. The article says he's expected to take the offer. Unbelievable! The best thing that could have happened to the Magic! The team has been a total joke ever since Shaq left. I'd heard experts say that he if Donavan was ever going to go to the NBA, this was the year to do it. His stock couldn't possibly get any higher.
Cdub100 3,928 Posted May 31, 2007 He will follow in the trail of all the other successful college coaches that came out to coach in the NBA. I don't see where this can go wrong

Vince44 205 Posted June 1, 2007 Yeah well....given the Magic haven't won a playoff series since Shaq left 11 years ago and the trend of college coaches failing in the pros makes me beleive that streak of no postseason series wins will continue and maybe reach 15. I like Howard and he at times reminds me of a young Shaq with the way he dunks, blocks shots, and their quick spin moves out of the post. I just think even in a bad Eastern Conference unless they get someone like Carter or Lewis as the guy who can averaged 20+ ppg on the wing then I see another 7-8 finish and a short stay in the playoffs. KSB2424 3,148 Posted June 1, 2007 Just like...Tim Floyd? Rick Pitino Leanord Hamilton John Calipari Lon Kruger PJ Carlisimo Jerry Tarkanian ect. The only coaches I can recall that had success in college and went on to win a championship in the NBA is Chuck Daly and Larry Brown.
