*** official *** " jerry porter was a dumb pick league ", draft results

Recommended Posts

This is our draft from last night. Yippy and Oldguru had computer problems so they're teams were basically pre-rankings and yahoo's auto pick.

But we would like some input from the rest of this site. Looks competitve to me.

I thought No talent and Clash came out of it looking pretty strong. I think my team is somwhere in the top 5. The ppr/ must start 3wr made me go after wrs in rds 3,4,5

My team turned out ok I was figuring it would be maroney at #9 and I couldnt pass on chad in the second. My #2 RB is lacking because of that. Then I took Gates in the 4th and it left my WR's pretty weak after C.J...

Good luck to all I feel that I can compete with this team.

I see a Clash and mancrush championship. But hey, what do I know? It's only late June.

JoeNathan's team looks hot. I mean, Wali Lundy in the 18th? what a steal!

LBH I really like your team.

You stole Andre Johnson 1 pick before me (but I still got Plax so I won't kill you) and you have a VERY solid starting lineup. You're only 2 question marks are Romo and Thomas Jones...if those 2 pan out for you you'll be competing to win the whole thing. I think scooter has a good team too....but I'm not a big VY believer as far as this year goes. Down the road he'll be great but I'm not sure he's #1 FF QB material as of right now. Clash's team is also very solid.

Overall it was an excellent draft. It's amazing how quickly the talent pool dried up with such experienced geeks drafting. I can see a rhyme and reason to everyone's team as I glance up and down the rosters. I'll post a more detailed, team by team analysis after I get out of work tonight.

Overall, I liked my draft. I've already got teased about River's as 1QB. But I just couldn't pull myself to drafting a QB early when the studs were gone. I lost out on some handcuffs that I really wanted (thanks clash) and missed out on another pick (thanks scooter). But from the 6th spot, I think I got a strong team. A couple of reaches in June might really pan out come September.

I also thought it was a pretty solid draft. I'm not as high on my squad as Ricer is, but I loved Westbrook at 8th in a PPR league. Likewise for the value I got out of Ronnie Brown.

I was actually really pleased with 5 of my top 6 picks. Not thrilled about Bell but I honestly believe he'll be the starter in DET and will catch a lot of balls this year.

yeah, looking at your team, Im glad you didnt get AJ. I thought you reached a little for Turner, Porter, and Clayton, but your starting line up is as good as anyones in the league. You got a good deal with Henry dropping to you. You grabbed what I think is going to be a decent fantasy TE in Graham to back up Winslow. I think Mcnabb is going to have a big year this year too. You will be pretty tough, no doubt

Dont feel bad about Rivers as your starting QB. I think Turner is going to let Rivers throw the ball downfield quite a bit, and I think LT comes back down to the 17-21td range. Rivers will be will be a solid QB1

Oh buddy. I'm not feeling bad about Rivers. He'll easily prove he's better than an 8th round pick. I believe he's one of my value picks. Most of the problem that I had was no WR corps. But since I was drunk, I figured grab the #1 WR on the team, I might be able to double score it. Just hopes...but hey, it's June.

My biggest reach...because a close friend of mine is an Atlanta guru....I took Shaub. I really don't like it. But it's like a little bug in my head that keeps eating my brain.

Just for giggles. (and giggles meaning...i've had two G&T's on my day off), I though I would go through my team and my short thoughts about the picks. Just so you know I'm either devious or just suck. LOL

Grateful Parrots

1. (6) Joseph Addai - I love this pick at 6 (he's my tiki)

2. (19) Clinton Portis - I like this pick, but I was really hoping to score the handcuff..so he's dropped just bit)

3. (30) T.J. Houshmandzadeh - questionable #1, but should have a decent upside.

4. (43) Jamal Lewis - still will get bulk of carries and with new team might be new drive (hoping)

5. (54) Deion Branch - #1 in Hasslebeck's offense. Seems no brainer to me

6. (67) Greg Jennings - homer pick - should be productive with Farve. Driver still 1, but also draws the coverage

7. (78) Todd Heap - Go air McNair, outside of Mason, Heap will be the next target

8. (91) Philip Rivers - about time I drafted a QB huh? WR corps suck, but screen happy to LT and Turner

9. (102) Chris Brown - Will be #1 in TN. I worry about PPR in TN, but he should get the TD's.

10. (115) San Diego - clearly the #3 defense. The run went two rounds earlier...I couldn't pull the trigger

11. (126) Marty Booker - reach

12. (139) Matt Schaub - reach, because of idiot friend

13. (150) Eric Parker - #1 in SD

14. (163) Adrian Peterson - nice to have a backup - i'm not a fan of benson

15. (174) Bo Scaife - homer pick

16. (187) Kevan Barlow - somebody has to pick him

17. (198) Dallas - a feeling that phillips will get this thing going

18. (211) Josh Reed - easily beat out Price for #2 during training camp

19. (222) Neil Rackers - solid kicker

20. (235) Donald Lee - another homer pick. but Franks will be a non factor

Thought I'd go Grateful on y'all and explain my own draft.

I'm really irritated because whynotme swiped 4 picks right out from under, 1 pick before me every time. That includes a guy I think would have made a good team a great team in Gates.

Tomlinson Mancrush

1. (8) Brian Westbrook - PPR gold. This was such a no-brainer pick, as I had him projected to 3rd overall behind LT2 and SJax for this scoring system. I was positively giddy with this pick, as I thought I'd be looking at Rudi Johnson or Willie Parker here. Westbrook is money.

2. (17) Ronnie Brown - love the upside. The man who made LT2 great is his new OC and that could mean huge things for this young talent. He produced well last year and with Trent Green at QB I am a bit higher on Brown's prospects than many. I think he has top 10 potential.

3. (32) Anquan Boldin - love this guy. He's just money. I'm not as thrilled with him as a 3rd rounder, but I watched as the 5 other WRs I had on my short list got taken right in front of me.

4. (41) Donald Driver - as it got close to me I had 3 names I really wanted. Gates was at least 8 picks past where I thought he should have gone, and I was praying I'd get him. Of course he was taken 1 pick before, leaving me the no brainer of Driver. Not thrilled with it, but as a WR2 he's a stud.

5. (56) Tatum Bell - dunno what I was really thinking here. I needed a RB3, and nothing on the board appealed to me except Bell. and the reason there was that he had 1000+ in part time duty last year and Martz will be throwing him the ball a lot. I do not believe KJ will be back in force this year, and if he is I do not believe he can stay healthy. Not that Bell is an iron man, but...anyway, I didn't love this pick, but I didn't love the WRs or QBs here either. I nearly took VY this early, but opted to wait.

6. (65) Vince Young - couldn't let him slide again - too many teams needed QBs, and I wanted his upside & rushing numbers. He really reminds me of a young Steve McNair. His passing will improve this year in an up & coming Titans offense.

7. (80) Vincent Jackson - 3rd year stud, 6'5" and no more McCardell - IMO Turner is going to find ways to get this guy the ball. The training wheels are coming off of Rivers and he's going to hook up with Jackson regularly IMO. With Gates & LT2 to cover, Jackson will have 10 TDs this year, IMO.

8. (89) Kevin Curtis - the #2 WR in Philly often produces...I have liked Curtis for a while and it hurt to see him stuck behind Holt/Bruce. Given the #2 role he has a shot at being a real sleeper this year. As a WR4 I dig this pick.

9. (104) Benjamin Watson - I waited a bit longer on TE than I wanted to...with Moss, Welker & Stallworthless in NE, Watson seems to be the forgotten man. He shouldn't be with all the single or no coverage he'll be facing regularly. I think he blows up this year like most though he would last.

10. (113) Dominic Rhodes - meh, a depth pick. Jordan's fat ass isn't coming back from that knee injury anytime soon, and Rhodes has some skills. He'll be bye week fodder if/when I have an injury to Bell.

11. (128) Matt Leinart - love the upside as a QB2...throwing to Fitz & Boldin on a team with no defense is a hell of a way to rack up the numbers.

12. (137) Reggie Williams - I thought this was great value. Not sure who the QB will be, but I like RW's upside.

13. (152) T.J. Duckett - should get the Gl carries in DET. That's why he was signed. With both Bell & KJ as injury risks, they won't use them at the stripe, and they could both go down.

14. (161) San Francisco - my homer pick, but also IMO a great sleeper D/ST. They added some serious playmakers - should be a very opportunistic defense, forcing turnovers and getting after the opposing QB for sacks.

15. (176) Michael Jenkins - depth at WR. Only upside is if Harrington is starting though.

16. (185) Jacksonville - backup D - meh.

17. (200) Stephen Gostkowski - loved this pick, even though it's just a kicker. NE will be scoring a lot and consistently so.

18. (209) Daunte Culpepper - already dropped him for a backup kicker. It was a joke pick anyway.

19. (224) Hank Baskett - WR depth-ish

20. (233) Marcus Pollard - semi sleeper in that I think he'll have a big role in his new offense.

Grateful Parrots

1. (6) Joseph Addai - I love this pick at 6 (he's my tiki)- Love Addai, and almost took him 3rd

2. (19) Clinton Portis - I like this pick, but I was really hoping to score the handcuff..so he's dropped just bit)- Should be a very good #2 if he stays healthy. Betts should hurt his value a little in ppr leagues like his one but TD production should compensate for that

3. (30) T.J. Houshmandzadeh - questionable #1, but should have a decent upside.- Not questionable imo. A very good #1 wr

4. (43) Jamal Lewis - still will get bulk of carries and with new team might be new drive (hoping)-maybe should have taken Harrison late, would have made more sense than Barlow

5. (54) Deion Branch - #1 in Hasslebeck's offense. Seems no brainer to me- Hackett has a realistic chance to be the #1 fantasy wr there

6. (67) Greg Jennings - homer pick - should be productive with Farve. Driver still 1, but also draws the coverage- pretty good pick, but I think u could have had him a little later. He was really productive before his ankle injury last year

7. (78) Todd Heap - Go air McNair, outside of Mason, Heap will be the next target- good spot to take Heap, he will be solid again. I think Clayton becomes the #1 wr there this year btw

8. (91) Philip Rivers - about time I drafted a QB huh? WR corps suck, but screen happy to LT and Turner

9. (102) Chris Brown - Will be #1 in TN. I worry about PPR in TN, but he should get the TD's.- no gurantee hes the #1 rb there or that it wont be a commitee, but Id rathe have him in a redraft than the other 2 guys

10. (115) San Diego - clearly the #3 defense. The run went two rounds earlier...I couldn't pull the trigger

11. (126) Marty Booker - reach

12. (139) Matt Schaub - reach, because of idiot friend

13. (150) Eric Parker - #1 in SD- I have Vincent Jackson as the #1 with Parker likely holding off C.Davis this year for the #2

14. (163) Adrian Peterson - nice to have a backup - i'm not a fan of benson- I agree, Im not sold on Benson at all

15. (174) Bo Scaife - homer pick

16. (187) Kevan Barlow - somebody has to pick him- Not imo

17. (198) Dallas - a feeling that phillips will get this thing going- Good pick, should be a lot of blitzing in Dallas this year

18. (211) Josh Reed - easily beat out Price for #2 during training camp

19. (222) Neil Rackers - solid kicker

20. (235) Donald Lee - another homer pick. but Franks will be a non factor

yeah, looking at your team, Im glad you didnt get AJ.

I'm not sure if you can call Porter and Clayton a reach...I know it seems that way compared to some of the othermocks but in the case of this particular draft they were the ONLY things left at the WR position in those respective rounds. The talent pool really dropped off after the 6th-7th round since everyone took anything that even looked like it had upside. In a 12 man league with 12 good drafters it's impossible you're going to be good at every one of the 7 main starting positions (QB, 2 RB's, 3 WR's and a TE). The choice I made was simple....my goal was to try and really solidify 6 of my 7 main starting positions and for the final position (whichever it would be) do a matchup or committee type of deal. As for Michael Turner....I just have a gut feeling this year that something is going to happen to LT. No scientific evidence, no link, nothing other than a good ole gut feeling that LT is due for something bad to happen to him....and if that is the case Turner gives me a top 10 back who could either give me great insurance or provide me with great trade bait down the road.

Well I chose to solidfy QB (6 points for passing TD's), both RB's (for obvious reasons), TE, and 2 of the 3 WR positions. My thinking was it would be easier to find a solid free agent WR than it would be a RB, TE, or QB down the road...and I think ff history shows that finding WR gems off the waiver wire happen every year. My man love for KWII is well documented on these boards....especially since i was defending him BEFORE last season....so I feel my TE is basically like a 4th WR. Seeing as I went RB-WR-RB in the first 3 rounds the next 3 rounds simply became a case of taking what I thought was the best player available at my positions of need (WR, QB, TE). I could have taken a solid #3 WR in the fifth but at the expense of not getting a top QB (which I personally feel Mcnabb will be again). Seeing as this league gives 6 points per passing TD I just felt better gambling on McNabb in the fifth vs a "Darrell Jackson" type receiver who, while he does have upside, is easier to find a replacement for down the road than a possible top notch QB. As for my McNabb decision....at that point it came down to Bulger and McNabb since they were the 2 best QB's on the board at that time. I already have 2 Rams on my roster so I really didn't want to take Bulger....plus I have McNabb rated higher. In reality McNabb is a 50-50 choice....he'll either be absolutely terrific or he'll get reinjured....I don't think there is any in-between with him. You look back at last year and 2 QB's came back from that very same injury...one with good results (Palmer) and one with a disastrous one (Culpepper). Seeing as McNabb had already transformed himself into more of a "pocket passer" before the injury I don't think the knee will effect him as much as others on here do. I was also really happy I was able to get Mike Bell late just in case Shanahan pulls a Shanahan.

Time will tell if I'm right or not but for better or worse that was my thinking process going into the draft.

agree 100% on your Mcnabb thoughts. Ive had him in a keeper league since he came out of Syracuse

I also like Clash's & Mancrush. Several others could surprise also. But as I mentioned in the other thread....L.Tomlinson can cure alot of weakness in other areas of a roster. Being able to pair McGahee with him, rounds out starting RB's, and I feel his WR's are servicable. Just my thinking.

With regards to my team. I was not able to get online to draft because of some kind of technical difficulty. (Yippie could not get on either) It was difficult for me to have the computer draft my team. However, I actually liked the computers first 4 picks with our scoring format. From there on, I really wasn't that pleased. I did have A.Peterson-Min ranked on my pre-draft list rankings of top 32 players that I set up before the draft. So....I sure don't know why it chose D.Jackson ahead of A.Peterson for me. I just don't understand why it followed my pre-rankings for the first 4 rounds and then stopped. Maybe it only fills all starter positions first, but....I usually don't draft that way. I know that A.Peterson would have been on my roster had it followed my pre-draft rankings. Oh well. I also would not have drafted a recovering Crumpler that early with his QB questions, and I would have never drafted M.Vick until after round 15 as a flyer. I also know that I would have never drafted a kicker until the last 3 rounds of a draft. It will be difficult not having any depth at RB for my team, and it would not have happened so drastically as it turned out, had I been drafting from the fourth round on. I am not crying about the way it turned out, I am just explaining what happened. I guess there was nothing that could be done about it with no one to call, and no one checking the boards fifteen minutes before the draft started. So...when you get dealt lemons, I guess you are supposed to make lemonade.

This should be a competitve league all the way around, and I will try to have fun with it, if I can make it thru the year nursing my team along. Maybe, I should get the first waiver pick each week on a WW system. Ha!

Thought I'd go Grateful on y'all and explain my own draft.

I'm really irritated because whynotme swiped 4 picks right out from under, 1 pick before me every time. That includes a guy I think would have made a good team a great team in Gates.

Tomlinson Mancrush

1. (8) Brian Westbrook - good pick. should be a solid ppr rb. Will always get you at least solid yardage points

2. (17) Ronnie Brown- Not crazy about Brown. Booker is going to fill he role of R.Williams. Still a solid #2 RB

3. (32) Anquan Boldin- Like Boldin more than Fitz in what Im imagining Whisenhuts offense to be like

4. (41) Donald Driver - Good #1 or #2 wr. Doesnt get much respect but he keeps producing

5. (56) Tatum Bell- eh...w'll see on this one. Im not crazy about the rb situation. Especially with Duckett lurking as a short yardage guy

6. (65) Vince Young- I havent touched him in any redrafts, but I hope youre right because hes on my dynasty team

7. (80) Vincent Jackson- I like Jackson as a breakout candidate this year. He could be in for a pretty good year, but I wouldnt predict 10tds.

8. (89) Kevin Curtis - underated. He doesnt get me too excited, but I think he will be a servicable wr3

9. (104) Benjamin Watson- Should be interesting to see if the presence of Moss,Stallworth and Welker is good or bad for watson

10. (113) Dominic Rhodes- should be a commitee guy. maybe around 40% of the carries

11. (128) Matt Leinart - good pick here, I thought about him over Cutler in this round

12. (137) Reggie Williams- Open competition in Jax. The only thing decided is that Northcutt is the starting slot guy. The good news is that Lefty is starting and Williams produced with him last year

13. (152) T.J. Duckett - good guy to have with Bell

14. (161) San Francisco

15. (176) Michael Jenkins - Petrino likes to throw the ball so maybe this is the year Jenkins is worth something. Should be the #2 behind Horn

16. (185) Jacksonville- Great week 1 match up against your QB(Young was shut down by them lst year)

17. (200) Stephen Gostkowski

18. (209) Daunte Culpepper- ww fodder

19. (224) Hank Baskett- I liked Baskett from what I saw of him last year. I really thought they would give him a chance after a good pre season but ended uip trading for Stallworth. I guess Im not sure what the Eagles opinion of him is

20. (233) Marcus Pollard

My initial plan was to go RB, RB, WR, WR, WR but when Fitz was the only upper tier WR left before the first big drop I knew I had to change strategy. Sure Fitz is good, but he has what's basically another WR1 on the other side and imo is a bit soft. Since I'm not as high on Fitz as most and wasn't going to take Roy or Housch at 3.1 I decided Palmer was the right pick. I was hoping I could grab Plex, Andre, Driver, etc and Ward at the 4/5 turn but only Ward was left. Taking a guy like Branch, Braylon, or Coles at 5.1 would have been stupid considering Glenn, Galloway, Cotchery, etc would all be available 20-30 picks later and will put up equivalent if not better stats, so I went MB3.

I'm not totally thrilled with my team but with passing TD's at 6 a pop, a stud QB like Manning, Palmer, Brees, or Brady is just as important (if not more) than a stud WR. Once you get past CJ, Owens, Smith, Holt, and Marv it's all pretty much a wash anyways. With the new offensive scheme in Pitt, Ward is just as likely to put up 1200 and 10 as Roy, Housch, Andre, Walker etc, etc. I'm a bit concerned about Stallworth and his fragile hammy, but if he stays healthy he'll be the #1 WR in New England. Moss has been done for 3 years and is nothing more than a decoy at this point of his career.

Hopefully one of my Tenessee RB's will pan out so I can try to updrage my WR core by trading one of my RB. Even if they don't, LT and Palmer alone will win me enough games to keep me in the title hunt.

I'm pretty sure that scary looking team of Jocstrap will put the fear in his opponents each week! Two stud running backs, two top notch receivers, Qb with 4k+ yards written all over him, LJ Smith will be Mccrapster's favorite target this year (after Westy of course), A kicker on a top 5 offensive team and NO DEFENSE:). I'll have to find the super sleeper of the teams left.

All in all there are a lot of solid teams, but not 1 that jumps out as the champ.

When I get a little time, I'll do a team by team analysis and give a final grade of 1 through 12

Wanna know what I did for lunch?

YB Daddies –

With LT2, of course he will get the RB1 advantage on every match up. Carson Palmer was also a good pick, he will be the 3rd best QB this year, which also will give an advantage playing most teams. MB3 will also be a great asset if Dal sorts out their RB issues. Huge problems at WR, I don’t see anyone on that team that can make a different with the WR position. All 3 starters will give unpredictable, wavering stats week in and week out.

6 out of 10

No Talent

Huge balls for drafting Steven Jackson 2nd, bigger balls for drafting another Ram, Holt in the 2nd round. I don’t know how the Rams will distribute their offense this year, but I would guess the majority to those 2 guys. I guess the main question is how much to the rest of the WRs. But still, those 2 players combines will wins some games for you.

Taking Henry, McNabb, and Winslow are all HUGE risks with some huge rewards if they work out. My other question is who will be the definite #2 RB for the team if the DEN RB theory works out and Henry does not start.

6.5 out of 10

LBH

Steal of the draft, Kevin Jones, 8th round. He won’t explode, but he will be healthy and a very solid #2 or 3 RB. I don’t feel like Bell is a threat. I can’t find anything wrong with this team, maybe drafting Vernon Davis 2 rounds too early? But it’s a solid starting lineup and a solid backup core. This team is not going to dominate each week and be the points total leader, but it will have great stats. I see this as a playoff team for sure, maybe even championship?

9 out of 10

Clash

I give him a 1 out of 10 because he took the whole time with every single pick. Kidding. Solid 1 2 punch at RB, but I would definitely question the backup situation at RB and WR. The biggest question on this team is Braylon Edwards, he could explode this year or just be another Peter Warrick. Playoff team, Championship if the backup situation sorts out.

8.5 out of 10

JoeNathan

I see this team as a team of opportunities, but also a lot of risk. This team will either be on top, or be one of the worst teams. A lot of questions about Shaun Alexander, Marvin Harrison being past their prime. Young RBs like Jacobs, Cadillac, and Brandon Jackson with a lot to prove. Not a solid WR group after Marvin. So far, so some weird reason, I’m going to say those questions will be answered and this team will do well. Playoffs.

8 out of 10

Grateful Parrots

TJ Whogotdraftedaliltooearly? Portis has been dropping lately, didn’t expect him to go that high. But nice backup with Jam Lewis. Also, Greg Jennings was a little high for me as well. A problem at the QB position as well, I don’t see Rivers having great fantasy numbers. But Schaub could be this year’s Drew Brees. It’s a good team though. With Hasselbeck back, Branch could have a career year. I see it going somewhere around .500.

7 out of 10

Jocstrap

I see some serious potential in Norwood, Berrian, Bennett, Henderson, and Arnez Battle. This is a solid team. I hate the TO pick, seems like it’s early. But the rest is solid. Good steal on Benson with 3.7, he should have been taken earlier, especially with TJones gone.

Playoffs if 2 out of those 5 guys I mentioned explodes.

7.5 out of 10

Mancrush

Don’t believe the hype of Vince Young (again, because maybe I’m retarded). Don’t think Tatum Bell is any good. But the rest of the team is great. I like the Westbrook Brown combo, WRs are solid, the backups are great…especially the SF d, I was going to pick them that same round. Playoff team for sure, championship if I turn out to be a dumbass and VY does what he usually does and dominates.

8.5 out of 10

Whynotme

Maroney was a great pick, but not a big fan of any other RB on the roster. I think this team has the best receiving core in Ocho, Chambers, Bruce, Mason, Furrey, and Antonio Gates at TE. And I don’t know how much gas is left in Hassellbeck’s tank.

7 out of 10

Oldguru

Yea, autodraft screwed you over. I can see this team steal 3 or 4 games this season with Manning and Wayne as well as Lynch or Green exploding…but I don’t see the team winning for than 4 games this season. Sorry man, wish it wasn’t like this.

4 out of 10

Yipskip

I actually really like this team. With the exception of Calvin Johnson being drafted WAY too high IMO, this team can make the playoffs. Bush, Smith, Brees, solid 3 starters. Moss has the ability to give you a steal in the 4th round. The #2 RB is questionable though, especially in the beginning of the year when AP will be sharing carries with Chester.

8 out of 10

Ron Mexico

Great starting RBs and WRs, those guys will give you at least 8 wins this season. But Eli Manning and Delhomme? Yuck yuck yuck. I also hate every OAK pick, which means I hate 3 of your picks.

I'm befuddled how the McNabb pick can be "risky" and the Westbrook pick isn't classified accordingly.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.....but if McNabb crashes and burns so will Westbrook's season. There isn't a person on the planet that can convince me otherwise. Garcia is gone....that offense is almost entirely predicated on passing and it's passing game is actually where Westy gains so much of his value in a PPR. If McNabb goes down teams will crowd the line of scrimmage and completely focus on Westy.....he won't be worth a 4th round pick at that point much less 1.08. Not to mention Westy hasn't exactly been the model of health either. If you're going to go ahead and assume that Mickey-Nabb will get hurt you should accordingly adjust your ratings that Westy is NOT a top 15 back in any scoring format. That team has no other proven offensive weapons that can take pressure off Westy if McNabb God forbid were to go down again.

Just thinking out loud...but I'm very much surprised at the early comments on the McNabb pick....pesonally I thought that was my best pick of the draft since I think he'll produce just as well as Palmer and Brees and I was able to get him 2 rounds later than Palmer.

As for Travis Henry...you don't give a player that much money and then put him in a RBBC....much less a RBBC with Mike Bell. Shanahan didn't use RBBC when he had proven backs (TD and Portis)....this is more of the same here.

JoeNathan is my hero

1. (5) Shaun Alexander - Autodrafted for me because I was late 5 minutes. Truthfully, I really wanted Gore, and its ironic I finally get a hold of SA when he is on his downside and "risky"

2. (20) Marvin Harrison - I usually like to go RB RB, but all the stud WRs were getting snatched up and it was either him or Holt left. I chose Harrison. There is no proof in any stats that he will be declining or Wayne surpassing him.

3. (29) Brandon Jacobs - The last guy on my 2nd tier RB list. I like Jacobs, he will play a huge part in the NYG offense this year and will be a solid #2 guy for me.

4. (44) Carnell Williams - Didn't enjoying picking him because he f-ed me over hard last year, but he was good value in the 4th, and I didn't have to worry about another RB for a while.

5. (53) Marc Bulger - Ranked #4 for me behind Manning, Brees, Palmer. I think he will be solid...AND the addition of Bennett and Dante Hall is good.

6. (68) Mark Clayton - I thought this was a horrible pick, but I'm taking a chance, thinking Mason is on the decline and Clayton will take over as the #1 guy. Maybe it was dumb trying to find my #2 WR in the 6th round.

7. (77) Joey Galloway - In Jeff Garcia we trust...to throw the ball.

8. (92) Jason Witten - Romo is going to be sweet this year, Witten is going to be on the rise.

9. (101) Brandon Jackson - Taking a chance on this kid, even though he could be cut in a month. But if he starts the season as the #1, what a great pick at 101!

10. (116) Matt Jones - 3rd year I've grabbed this guy, hoping he will do something.

11. (125) Brandon Marshall - I really like this pick, mainly because I think he will beat out Rod Smith for playing time and the #2 spot on the team.

12. (140) Alex Smith - Homer pick, but he will also have a lot of weapons to play with. Norv's loss don't mean a thing.

13. (149) Olindo Mare - Top kicker for a top offense, might be a little early, but wanted to lock a kicker down.

14. (164) Eric Johnson - If he stays healthy, he will be a stud in NO

15. (173) Green Bay - Why? no idea. Needed a d?

16. (188) Maurice Morris - Handcuff for SA

17. (197) Bobby Engram - No idea who is going to be the #2 or 3 guy in Sea right now.

18. (212) Wali Lundy - Taking a chance.

19. (221) Joe Nedney - Solid Kicker

20. (236) Ashley Lelie - Didn't see enough SF on my team.

This is the first draft I've seen this year that has allowed Travis Henry to slip to the third round. You guys do realize he finished in the top ten last year, right.....with the Titans???

Travis Henry in the third round is one of the greatest value picks of all-time.

McNabb was having a MVP like season last year, and he'll have one again this year if he is healthy, but when a player has been injured badly the last 2 years, that is called a risky player to me. Westbrook has proven to be successful without McNabb, I don't see how he won't be again if McNabb goes down.

One rule I learned as a FF player is that Shanahan HATES us, and he rather see us suffer than see his own team win. I have the #1 RB for Denver projected as Paul Smith, because it could be ANYONE.

You're looking too short-term with respect to Henry. Shanahan used Portis, Anderson, and Terrell Davis all almost exclusively during their tenures in Denver. The flip-flop stuff mostly had to do with Shanahan's lack of commitment to Tatum Bell.

It would be a mistake to let the saga of Shanahan and Tatum Bell impact passing on a RB who could go bonkers in that offense.

Jeff Garcia is gone....do u understand what will happen when Kolb , a completely green 2nd round rookie, is put under center??? McNabb going down = bye bye fantasy value for Westy.

AS for the Denver issue...if over the last 5 years my "top" rb talent were the likes of Mike Bell, Rueben Droughns, Tatum Bell, and Mike Anderson....I'd use RBBC as well. Looking in the rear view mirror the problem, fantasy wise, was that we as fantasy geeks were guilty of trying to "create a starter" for the Denver situation. We all knew that Shanny's system works for the running game...as such we all assumed he would use 1 guy but unfortunately the talent on the roster didn't allow him to do so. He was FORCED to go RBBC because if you added the talent of all 4 of those guys you might equal 1 pretty good back.

Ask yourself this question......out of those 4 guys I mentioned above 3 of them are no longer with the Broncos. Of those 3...all 3 have failed to do diddly poo on their new teams. The problem was talent...which is why they paid Henry so much money. I can't guarantee he'll set the world on fire even despite the Denver system....but I can guarantee you he will see the majority of the carries sans injury.

All WR's after the big 5 have "unpredictable, wavering stats week in and week out". The entire position is pretty much a crap shoot. Sure this is PPR but you giving me a 6 out of 10 is an insult! Pitt is gonna open things up more this year and Ward is a warrior. Glenn will be his usual, steady, 1000 and 6 self and either Stall or Mush will do fine as a #3. Having a proven top 3 QB and the best RB in the league will more than make up for the lack of WR. I'll take Carson, Ward, and Glenn over say Romo, Fitz, and Branch any day.

Substituting Kitna for Romo (since Romo only started half the season and they're both being drafted around the 6th-7th this year), that threesome (with ppr) scored approx 600 FF points. Carson, Ward, and Glenn combined for approx 630 FF points. Even when you factor in that Fitz and Deion both missed a couple games (as did Ward) it ends up pretty much a wash.

I'm not claiming to have a perfect draft but a 6/10 is silly.

Rice...

You have a right to your opinion but to give your own team an 8 and to give my team a 6.5 (second lowest ranking in the league) is crazy. On that scale I'm not even sure I'd give your team a 4 then. Alexander is on his last leg (literally) and doesn't catch any passes. Jacobs and Cadillac are huge question marks and both have someone competing with them (Cadillac doesn't get goal line carries).

You said you saw your own team as a team of opportunities with "alot" of risk and give yourself an 8 and then say basically the same thing about my team and give me a 6.5 when my team is CLEARLY better than yours

S Jackson >> Alexander

Holt = Harrison

Henry >>> Jacobs

McNabb > or = to Bulger

Plaxico >>>>>> Clayton

Any other receiver on my roster <<<< Galloway

Winslow>>Witten

Other than the #3 WR spot which I'll give you that Galloway is head and shoulders more proven than anyone I have...your team isn't better than mine and you give me a 6.5 and yours an 8. You cite injury risks on my part but you have Cadillac who couldn't even stay healthy IN COLLEGE and Alexander (Your first round pick) coming off a major injury. My first injury "gamble" didn't come until round 5 and the upside with that pick is huge while within the first 5 rounds I can honestly call 3 of your picks "gambles".

I ain't mad 'atcha....I would just LOVE to hear the reasoning behind that since just looking at it on paper it doesn't even seem like much of an argument to be honest.

Around .500? I beg to disagree. You forget to mention Addai. Portis dropping? I drafted him 2.8 and his ADP is 1.12-2.1. How would you not expect him to go that high? Whoozh is a little high, but there was a clown rush of WR which left me to him. Based on his PPR numbers should be close to working out. Again, Jennings is high, but the upside as a solid #2 will work out for me. Branch again is a solid #2. Rivers number will come from LT2 and Gates. I'm not looking for yardage, more than I'm looking for touchdown passes. I believe my team is far better that .500. No disrespect.

I'm not claiming to have a perfect draft but a 6/10 is silly.

Actually, looking at my team I give myself about a 6/10

1st draft of the year, and having done no mocking at all so far I was really down on this team. I like my top 4 a lot, but after that it's all a crap shoot. And I'm not wild about Ronnie Brown after his letdown last year at 1.12 in a $ league (fortunately I had Westy at 2.01 in that same league and he carried me to a 2nd place league finish)...

But still - after Westy/Brown/Boldin/Driver my roster has a lot of "ifs".

Time will tell, but I don't see myself as a favorite to win jack this year.

Damn, ripped to shreads for my review.

Ace - Obiously, your team will be great if everyone stays healthy. But your view of the risky players on your team is a lot different than mine, we can agree to disagree on that. If McNabb and Winslow is guarenteed to stay healthy all year, and Henry is announced the opening day starter, I will rank your team a 8. However, with the current situations, I am sticking to my 6.5 rating.

Parrot - Portis was at 2.10 on my ADP, not sure who's rankings are more current. TJ and Branch are both SOLID #2 WRs, but you don't have a #1 WR. And IMO, Rivers is NOT a good starting option. That's why I said around .500. But hey, in this league, 9-7 could mean playoffs.

ANd yes, I do admit my 8 out of 10 is on the high side. But I said "assuming those questions get answered."

Questions being answered:

- SA being healthy and productive again.

- Marvin still the top dog in Indy

- Jacobs becomes the man in NY

- Caddy shows he can be consistent

Truthfully, I wish I had any of the top 5 instead of SA, I feel like Caddy might have been a wasted 4th round pick, and the Marvin pick prevented me from doing some things I wanted to do with my WR core in the middle rounds. But you're not suppose to tell your opponents what you did wrong right? :dunno:

Rice...

You just echoed my point about your skewed rankings.

You once again admitted that your own team has unanswered question marks (you listed 4 above) and give yourself an 8 meanwhile my question marks can be argued are not as big (but let's just say for the sake of argument they are equally risky) and you give my team a 6.5. Makes absolutely, positively zero sense. Based on your rationale of assuming all "risks" are not going to pan out you can give your team no higher than a 6.5 as well.

Sorry brother...but it's kind of hard to take those rankings seriously. I still don't see your logic considering most would say your question marks are at least AS big...if not bigger. My guys are at least proven. Injuries are unpredictable and if you start going that route you could second guess every pick in this draft. Point is...your team is not an 8...not even close.

If my 4 risks don't pan out, I don't even see my team as a .500 team and I would give myself a 6.

If 2 risks out of 4 don't pan out, a 7 for my team.

I thought I made it clear I was biased towards my team in the ratings...guess not.

my drafting thoughts.....

Little Big Head

1. (3) Frank Gore- I really like the fact he produced such high yardage numbers despite having no other offensive weapons on the team. I didnt want to jump on LJ and the sinking ship otherwise known as KC

2. (22) Thomas Jones - I love TJ this year. Think he will be a solid ppr RB and overall yardage guy. Jets scored 15 rushing TDs last year and were a top 10 NFL team in rush attempts. I think he could have his best fantasy year this season

3. (27) Roy Williams - with a must start 3 wr league I needed to start focusing on wrs, and Roy was the one with the most trade value left on the board imo

4. (46) Andre Johnson- Hes a ppr machine. If he can catch over 100 balls with Carr, I have to believe he can do better this year with Schaub throwing, and Green keeping safteys from ignoring the run

5. (51) Laveranues Coles - another consistant ppr guy. Coles is pretty much a lock for 80-90 rec 1000-1200yds and 5-8tds. TJ will help the play action ability of Pennington

6. (70) Vernon Davis- Less informed people might refer to this as a reach pick, but hes te 2nd best TE on my fantasy board, and all Ive been reading is how hes picking up the game and building a nice repoire with Smith in the early going here

7. (75) Tony Romo- He was the last QB available I felt really good about as my QB1

8. (94) Kevin Jones - Hey in the 8th rd hes worth a shot. I think the PUP news coming off rotoworld may have scared some people, but according to KJ, hes going to be fine and ready for week1 at the latest

9. (99) Santonio Holmes- A little surprised I got him this late, as hes been going a rd or two earlier in my other drafts. Love his breakout potential as Pitt switches to a spread offense

10. (118) DeShaun Foster- If you read multiple fantasy message boards like I do, you would think Foster is just going to rot away on the bench. Truth is its a full rbbc, and there isnt anything from the coaching staff saying otherwise. Also believe the zone blocking scheme will play to the strengths of both backs cut back ability

11. (123) Jay Cutler - I love Cutler this year, and think what he was able to do from a fantasy perspective last year is pretty amazing. prorated over a full year would have been 29tds

12. (142) Pittsburgh - ran out of time. computer picked these chumps

13. (147) Steve Smith- Hes one of my sleeper rookie picks this year, and think he will beat out Toomer for the #2 spot. I took Toomer a couple of picks later to assure myself I would get the guy who starts

14. (166) Lorenzo Booker- Ive read he will be filling Rickey Williams role. Hes said to be equal or better than what Washington was at Florida State. I think he could be a decent bye week play in ppr leagues. Guess we'll see

15. (171) Amani Toomer - 32 yrs old, coming off a torn ACL . For a wr that sounds kind of bad, and thats why I like Smith a lot

16. (190) Greg Olsen - Grossman sounded pretty excited about him during OTAs

17. (195) Maurice Stovall- Hes my pick to win the wr2 job in Tampa

18. (214) DeDe Dorsey - waiting to see how much of a 2 back system Dungy really plans on in Indy

19. (219) Mike Walker - was "dominating" practices last I knew, and the competition outside of the slot guy is wide open

20. (238) Mike Nugent - he only missed 1 fg since week 1
