Giants Fan 85 Posted August 12, 2007 OK ... seriously ... past 25 years. Since 1982. Pick 5 bands. And if you say Fallout Boy or No Doubt .... I might hafta beat you up.
Giants Fan 85 Posted August 12, 2007 1. License to Ill, Beastie Boys 2. 10, Pearl Jam 3. Nevermind, Nirvana 4. U2, not a fan ... but respect 'em ... and they do a bad ass live show. Pick an album here! 5. Rain Dogs, Tom Waits Tom Waits .... gotta be top 5. You may be familiar with the song "Downtown Train" that you thought was by that Rod Stewart fellow ... it's a cover. A Tom Waits cover from Rain Dogs. "When I see you tonight, on a downtown train ... all my dreams fall like rain."

Giants Fan 85 Posted August 12, 2007 i love FOB! I showed some of my students a picture of me when I was 15, leather jacket, mohawk ... and I got up and pointed to the screen and said, "That was like ... 1985, 22 years ago. And you know what? Sid Vicous died like 7 years before that." "Punk's not dead ... it's just been repackaged and sold to you as something new, but it's not new. Punk is pop ... it's top 40." Bands like Good Charlotte .... is it wrong that I wanna beat them all up? Soooo not punk.

This has to be a "Giants Fans' top 10 albums" list...How else could you explain the inclusion of any Beastie Boys record over Dr. Dre's "Chronic"?...Beastie Boys were relevant to suburban white kids and frat boys, but the album didn't change the rap scene or have any long-term affects on music... "The Chronic" was not only a hit with suburban white kids, but also huge in the inner cities...It also changed the sound of rap for the next 10+ years and its production is still influential in today's rap and pop...
