I thought everything was overpriced in New England

except for Lobster

I can walk maybe 100 yards down the street and buy 4 bananas for $1 from the messican guy at the fruit stand.

As long as azzmegs are willing to pay that much, the cafe is smart to do it.

It's called "charging what the market will pay"

HTH

:D

yup... it's called the price of convenience... if said idiot would have walked to a grocery store or produce stand, chances are s/he wouldn't have been able to buy a single banana...

plus the cafe has overhead prices to consider when charging for that banana... not to mention also having to account for the costs of other bananas they may have had in inventory for sale which no one purchased and went bad...

Then you'd be eating illegal alien infused fruit. The cafe prolly bought their bananas from the same guy but stamped it "Amurrrican"

Yeah, that's why the cafe before them had to close from not enough customers from ridiculous prices, just like this one will do soon. Good call.

so the location sucks cause the people around you are cheap, i didn't argue it was a good business plan for the location.

well any idiot that drinks bottled water deserves to pay out his nose for it... it's been estimated that if your city water cost the same thing as bottled water per gallon, the average monthly household water bill would be around $9,000... and the regulated water quality would be exactly the same... but again, the price of convenience for morons that can't buy a re-usable container and fill it up at home.

Bottled water *IS* filtered, or people wouldn't buy it. Hence it tastes much better.

and did you know that you're Coke and Pepsi bottled water products are just "mineral" water from your local tap? yup. the local bottlers that bottle all of the coke/pepsi products for your area just pour water into the bottle, add coke/pepsi's 'secret' mineral water recipe packet, screw on the cap, and sell it to you for umpteen times more than it costs straight out of the faucet...

but you go ahead and keep thinking that it's better water...

IT'S FILTERED WATER, WHICH TASTES 10 TIMES BETTER THAN TAP WATER.

Tap water is focking gross, filtered water tastes like spring water.

so when you go buy your bottle of Fiji water, do you think you're getting filtered water from Fiji?

The majority of the population of the island of Fiji doesn't have clean drinking water.

Not all bottled water *IS* filtered, and people would buy it because they are naive like you. Blind taste tests have proven that people can not tell the difference in taste.

I like the one that Penn and Teller did a while back. They opened up a water bar. They told people that they could choose water from glaciers, from Japanese waterfalls, etc., and charging them $7/glass. They were actually filling up the bottles up from the garden hose.

he gullible POS, idiot, who thinks he knows something based on his own tastebuds, when in reality he doesn't know sh!t about an industry that he's trying to talk about...

then why do blind taste tests prove otherwise?

ps.

i just love the fact that the strength of your argument is that 'it tastes better' to you... you are so wise... i bow to your vast knowledge and wisdom about everything bottle water related...

Ed. They were charging a dollar for the banana. Plus tax, comes to $1.05 (since they purchased it at a cafe, rather than the supermarket, the meal tax is charged).

So, you are biotching about spending $1 on a banana. It is probably not worth the cafe's time to charge less than a dollar for anything. Rent, salaries, and the materials make it necessary to do so.

ok. so i have knowledge of an industry. you obviously don't... you want to come back and try to insult me... you are definitely in the top10 blowhards that are full of themselves on this bored... you act like you know so much, but when someone calls you to the table on your lack of knowledge, you act like a 14 yr old on myspace...

so funny... if you're right that it's better, and filtered, and gov't regulations prove require it to be of a higher standard, than why don't you go out, find some links and prove me wrong... focktard????

Hey Mr. Wizard, I have news for you.

Water from the tap at my house tastes horrible. When I put it through the filter and then drink it, it tastes much better. You trying to tell me you know how I taste things better than me?

That is when we get into the Micro-economics of supply and demand. Price is the intersection of the supply and demand lines. If they charge too much for the banana, then they don't sell it. If they charge too little, they are leaving money on the table.

Given that you are talking anecdotally here, I would say that the fact that you actually SAW someone purchasing a banana at that price, they are probably not so far out of line for that banana.
