Rybo5 0 Posted October 6, 2007 I'm in the process of picking an auto insurance company, and Progressive is the front runner right now. To those who have dealt with progressive, has the experience been mostly positive? Has anyone had any really bad experiences in particular? Will answer your's! Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted October 6, 2007 Do you have to go high risk? Prog. is a high risk co............ That said contact an Independent Agent and let them check for you. For example, I have about 65 companies that I can write for.

Old School 360 Posted October 7, 2007 I've got a Progressive policy on my motorcycle. I guess it might be a high risk policy, no one else wanted to cover the bike.

shake_a_leg 0 Posted October 7, 2007 I had Progressive for a few years when I was high risk. I always paid the full amount in 6-month increments and kept out of reach from the coppers and my rates went down every 6 months for a few years until I was considered an "ultra-preferred" customer. The rates were unbeatable until I changed insurance companies on my house and combined the 2 policies. My rates went from over $1800 a year as a high risk 20 year old kid down to about $250 every 6 months for full coverage now (31 year old kid). I've got a Progressive policy on my motorcycle. I guess it might be a high risk policy, no one else wanted to cover the bike. I still have progressive on my Harley. I know a lot of companies don't like to cover motorcycles, but Progressive has damn good prices nonetheless.
BrownsFan 0 Posted October 8, 2007 Progressive is not high risk auto insurance - it started out that way, but long ago abandoned that strategy. You don't become the third largest auto insurance company sticking with that niche market. I have Progressive Insurance, and I'm thrilled. I had an accident a month or so ago. I dropped my car off at the service center, they gave me a rental, and that was the last time I saw my car until the work was done. The repair work is guaranteed to be completed by a high quality repair shop. Their claims office is top notch. Price wise, we can never beat them.
VikesFan 1 Posted October 8, 2007 I'm with them. They are not high risk anymore. I have full coverage for me and my wife on both of my vehicles for less than $90/month. Not bad. My dad works for them as an adjuster, and based on his stories, they are pretty reasonable with claims. I've never needed to make one.
NorthernVike 2,086 Posted October 8, 2007 The key to Progessive is having good credit. The better your credit, the higher your prior liability limits and if you have a home owners policy the better the rate you get. They can be damm tough to beat price wise and they generaly take care of claims in very short order. Your local shop may not like them very much as they are tough on them for the $ they pay to fix a car. But that is their problem not yours. I have them and I sell for them. No wonder there are a bunch of Insurance agents on this bored. Get back to work fockers
hellothere 1 Posted October 8, 2007 ive been with them since i started driving and paying for insurance, that was 10 years ago. ive only had one accident, and that was a hit and run in a parking lot. i wasn't even in the car when it happened. but they came out took a few pictures and were fast about getting it taken care of and my choice of repair shops. my rates have gone down to about 300 per 6 months, and every time i have had to get documents either via internet or phone they have been fast and helpful. unless i find that i can save ridiculous money and go with a "proven" provider in my mind im sticking with them. bno70_1 0 Posted October 8, 2007 Had em for like 5 years. Always the lowest price when I check every year or so. Last December I had a rental car that was hit in the parking lot while I wasn't around. Obviously I hadn't paid for the "extra" insurance. So, I filed a claim using my primary insurance, and it was taken care of in TWO days. Not bad at all.

Progressive came in at about half of our Geico bill and we switched.
