kutulu 1,676 Posted October 9, 2007 Hey, TNG I know we have had our problems in the past, but if you would send me a scratch and sniff picture of your underwear after your next 5K race, I think I would be willing to forgive you. Just sayin'

Mr. Football 0 Posted October 9, 2007 Instead of continuing to drone on and on about the pro's and con's of TNG running a local 5k in whatever time she did, why not talk about the folks that ran Chicago on Sunday. I had several friends who told me it was the worst thing ever !

I had several friends who told me it was the worst thing ever ! My boss told me about it yesterday, very sad. She's run the Chicago marathon twice and she said that she couldn't imagine what they were going through.
hoytdwow 202 Posted October 9, 2007 why not talk about the folks that ran Chicago on Sunday. I had several friends who told me it was the worst thing ever ! I would think that people who dedicate their lives to the sport of running would have known better than to run in that weather. What did they expect?
Mr. Football 0 Posted October 9, 2007 You don't have to dedicate your life to running a marathon. Many people, myself included, set it as one of their goals in life. I have run Chicago and know for a fact that it would be awful to train for months, pay for the marathon (usually $100), travel to Chicago and have that be your 1st marathon experience. I heard some dude died because of a bad heart, but other than that, what was the deal? while I'm at it, way to go TNG. I walk/run 3 miles on the treadmill 2-3 times a week. I just got an email about participating in a 5K for breast cancer coming up the end of October. I might do it, but even in decent shape, don't think I could run the whole way. That's a great accomplishment for you!
Mr. Football 0 Posted October 9, 2007 They closed the race course a few hours into the race. So if you weren't at a certain point, you were not allowed to continue. First time ever this has happen They also ran out of liquids, the first aid stations were overwhelmed and about 400 people went to the hospital. ......other than that, just a normal race

Evil number 0 Posted October 9, 2007 I too haven't heard anything about this.So apparently it was hot. is that all? or were there other things involved? It was in the 90's in Chicago. Runners complained that there was not enough water. race organizers blamed the early runners for pouring cups of water over their heads. It was poorly thought out by the race organisers and may end up hurting Chicago's bid for the 2016 olympics. There were many many runners who did not even bother to try running. I think like 10,000 people who had registered did not run.

DuckStupid 40 Posted October 10, 2007 Hi bro When you come over here to sample her moistness, you had better look me up The chances of me taking a 2-3 hour drive from SF up to your neck of the woods one night after the training are pretty focking slim. IF I come out Saturday (which I might), I might consider a roadtrip on Sunday. Otherwise, like last time, it probably isn't going to happen. I'll be out there sat/sun through Wednesday.
