Lets go over New York.

Oh why bother, I'll be laughing too hard to type it all out.

I will say this though.

Isiah Thomas

On the other hand, you would actually have to live in Massachusetts. I would imagine the suicide rate there is astronomical.

don't get me wrong, it's a horribly liberal state and it's a sh!tty place to live. Kennedy, Kerry, Patrick

I was only talking sports though.

It is a pretty nice place to live. The suicide rate is not quite as high as I would like it to be.

As I was in the shower this morning, the only thought I had (other than that one) was how much I can't stand Boston sports fans. I know 3 guys who have all moved out there in the past decade and with all three of them, it's the same. "We dominate... We own... We've got dynasties... We're the bet thing that the world of sports has going for it..." They all seem to have lost their roots. The terrible seasons that the Mariners and Seahawks had in the Kingdome. The Sonics of the late 80's and past 5 years. The Washington Huskies in the late 90's and early 2000's (okay, fine! The Huskies of right now!).

What I'm saying here is this...outside of Boston, nobody really cares! Sure you see all the fans show up at baseball games in their "B" hats and Ortiz jerseys, but as soon as the Sox have left town, I'd bet more than half of those people stop showing up at their home-town teams games, don't follow their beloved Sox via the internet and show little more attention to them on ESPN than they do the Washington Nationals. They are popular because of their run a couple of years ago, and as soon as the Indians or another team of young, like-able, handsome faces show up in the World Series, Americans will have another team to root for, and inevitably they will be some of the same people who were once Red Sox loyalists living abroad.

As for the Patriots, I really used to like them. I enjoyed watching Bellichek outsmart the opponents coaches. I liked seeing a relatively unknown or past his prime veteran catch the spark that rejuvenated their career. I had for years urned for team work and chemistry that was on display weekly with the Patriots. That Tom Brady rise to glory was straight outta Hollywood!!! Heck, even their owner seemed likable. But then we found out they were cheaters, and well...nobody likes a cheater.

Congratulations with the Celtics! It'll be interesting to see how well a trio of 30 year olds gel with the rest of that team. This might be the only intriguing sports story in Boston, and only cause I miss seeing the parquet floors on Saturday mornings. I've been longing for a highlight package of the Bird/McHale/Perrish years. Now that the Celtics are at least marketable (how good they really are remains to be seen), my wish will be fulfilled. Let's hold off for a bit on the "championship" talks. They haven't even played a meaning full game together (or were these guys on "Dream Team" together?) and they still have the Heat, Pistons, and Bulls to contend with.

Before I wrap up, I just want to ask: Where will you be next decade when it all goes away?

That is based upon last year's info

Besides, you are speaking about Detroit. 'nuff said

All of our major teams have winning records.

Pistons and Wings went to their respective conference finals and no reason why they couldn't do it again this year.

Lions 3-2

Both of our college major college teams have winning records and CMU is a top the MAC West Conference

Tigers had a good year, didn't make the playoffs but still had a good year

Let's see

Bruins suck as usual

Celtics have three good players, but we'll see how that works out for them

Pats one of the top teams in the NFL

BC is overrated, but ranked 4th so you have that going for you

Soxs are in the ALCS where they get to lose to the Indians

so yes there are better sports places to live HTH

What about Ohio?

Indians, Browns are surprising, Ohio State number 3..

I mean, aside from living in Ohio, they have nothing to be upset about..

ETA: I also drop MA down a bit because that a$$head Peter King is always all over them..

Yeah they did.. Isn't Ohio State ahead of BC in the polls?

I know he's from NJ, but he's all over anything Boston.

King doesn't like the Patriots and is a bandwagon Sox fan.

The fact that BC is even IN the polls is amazing. They are not really deserving, but it does lend some credence to Boston being a pretty hot sports town right now.

Massachusetts in 1985-6 was greta too - just with more losing mixed in

Sox in the Series

Patriots in the Super Bowl

Celtics won the NBA title AND had top draft choice

It all ended with a crash the night Len Bias died, but it was fun when it lasted.

Re: BC being #4

I'm as big a Boston College homer as any (I'm a student there, after all), but the only reason they are being ranked #4 is because they are one of the few remaining undefeated teams in BCS contention, and are at the top of a BCS conference (albeit the worst BCS conference). I'm enjoying this while I can because Boston College has NEVER been ranked this high in their history and they're really going to be tested the rest of the way starting this week. I could see them dropping the Notre Dame or Virginia Tech game, and then that would be all she wrote as far as a BCS bowl is concerned.
