How focked am I?

Recommended Posts

I moved to another part of the city six months ago. A few weeks ago my old roomate says he's got a pile of my mail. So I pick it up and there's a parking citation from f'ing APRIL before I moved, still unpaid. And a notice that the original fine of $30 has gone up to $60. This was sent in May. I never received a ticket but there's a notice that it was written to a rental car I did have at the time.

I'm now counting on a few hundred in fines. Anybody else ever have something like this? If it makes it any better, this is my only unpaid parking ticket. yeah stupid I know.

Somewhat similar.

When I was at MSU, I got a ticket for open intoxicant in public..which I never paid(I was a senior and knew I was moving back to Illinois).

About 5 years later, I was in Pontiac, MI with my girlfriend(now my wife) and I got pulled over. Cop ran me and found I still had that unpaid ticket!! ARGHHHHHH.....

So he arrests me and actually takes me through a drive-up ATM so I could withdraw the cash to pay off the ticket. Was kind of funny trying to work an ATM from the back seat of a cop car.

Anyway, the fine went from something like $50 to $75...but that was it.

You could also make an argument that the parking spot is "resonable" and or "prudent" .... might only be in AZ ... but it's not a ticket .... unless you pull me over.

Waste of time ... I ride sober .... so pull me over ... waste your time. If I'm speeding, I got a reason why too. So ... STFU.

That cop must of been pissing himself laughing when he was drinking with your money later that night.

I'm not sure if it is different where you live, although in Colorado the most they can charge you is 3x's the ticket amount, and will most likely send you to collections after 6 months of no payment or contact. They may boot your car if they come across it while giving you another ticket for something else.

30FBT had an outstanding ticket from 2004 that he got back in Texas, orginally was $20.00, when he got the collection bill it was $60.00 three years later. Don;t be too worried, unless they boot you, then it's like $200.00 to get it taken off :dunno:

You are totally focked. However, that has nothing to do with the parking ticket.

Go downtown, ask to see a magistrate about it, and explain the whole move/buddy/rental thing. Perhaps they'll reduce it to the original amount. If not, you still have to pay the ticket. Nothing to lose. :dunno:

But you decided .... on purpose ... to mess it all up.

For a "Light Rail" that nobody will use ... rip up the whole city ..... Make traffic WORSE for how many years?

STFU! Phoeniix SUCKS!

He mighta paid for it, but I keep all the proceeds. It's part of the "deal".

Glad to hear it's not that huge a deal - I'm going to pay it tomorrow (have to appear in person @ this point).

Thanks. This place is like a fountain of great knowledge. <_<

I moved 4 times over a 2 year period to 4 different cities. I got 2 excise taxes I never saw. Go to renew my license in 2003 and I owed like 600 in total to 2 cities I hadn't lived in in 5+ years.

I just got a letter about two weeks ago about my parking tickets. I've got 20 unpaid dating back to June. The total price? $240.

Our records indicate that the enclosed list of ticket(s), in your name, remain outstanding. It is to your advantage to resolve this matter within 30 days of this notice. After 90 days unpaid tickets will be referred to collection. If you have made payment, thank you.

Fock 'em. I aint payin'.

Little back story: I was a downtown resident on the waiting list for monthly-paid parking spots. I couldn't get a spot...so I parked in front of my house at the price of $5 per day...that I never planned on paying.

I'm probably focked soon. :bandana:

My brother had a parking spot all through law school ... ran up THOUSANDS in tickets .... and then argued that the signage was not proper ... there was no "No Parking" sign, or red curb, or fire hydrant .... and he got out of it.
