Not a Great Day Yesterday as I Lost my Large BC Play and got Lucky with a Push

in the Houston Game as I had Houston + 7 ( Bought the 1/2 Point...ALWAYS DO THAT )

 

I am Taking Wake Forest in the 2nd Half - 3 ( 120 ) as they are the BETTER TEAM

in this Game...just not getting to the QB......THEY WILL in the 2nd half!

I even think Wake can STILL COVER the Game but thats another story.

I think PSU is the big play tonite. They have the defense that matches up well with what A&M wants to do on offense, and that's run the ball. Penn State should be able to do a good job in stuffing the run and making A&M beat them with the pass, which I don't see happening. A&M's defense is mediocre at best, if Morelli can get the ball in PSU's dangerous WR's hands, they should have a field day with A&M's poor secondary. I live in Nittany Lion country, and I know a lot of people are fired up for this game after what that idiot from A&M said, so I can only imagine how fired up the players are for this one.

I think the overall numbers show me that UConn is the better team. While WF made a living on defense by forcing 34 turnovers, U Conn only turned it over 14 times all year. U Conn was 5-2 ATS as a dog this year, and I feel they are the better team. I think they win, WIN WITH COMFORT, so I took the moneyline odds.

I like UCF and/or the over in this next game. I really like A&M but this little tidbit has got me a thinking bout it:

 

The Nittany Lions have won 22 bowl games under Paterno, including four of the last five. The Aggies have lost nine of their last 11 bowl appearances, including the two they played under Franchione.

Still creeping toward mediocrity, but the TCU game was by far my biggest play of the bowls and righted the ship financially. I'm planning on killing the Maryland FG "kicker".

Just got back from a 50/50 poker tourney for charity. $100 buy in with $50 going to a guy who has little girl with cancer. 84 people entered payout was $3000 to 1st place. $1000 to 2nd place, $200 to first place. (I have a feeling there was only 3 payouts to encourage a donation back to the family and to keep people from grinding all day for a 15th place payout).

 

Hurricane Ditka took 1st place!!!!!

 

Donated $2000 of my winnings to the family. Bought 15 pitchers of beer and paid for lunch and my own tab with shots. Still have $600 in my pocket.

 

That is how it is done ya'll.

 

 

Worth a mention:

 

I was 5th in chips at the final table with 7 guys remaining and an 80 year old lady who was catching one river card after another. I am in the big blind and get dealt 7 and 9 of spades. Flop comes out 5 spades, 6 spades, and King spades. I make a flush on the flop. Two people ahead of me bet, then raise, I call. Turn was the 8 of spades, I make a straight flush and the board has 4 spades. It gets checked through. River was 2 of hearts. I go all in and get two callers. Old lady had Ace high flush. The other guy had three of a kind and should of got out of the pot. I triple up and never look back.

 

The best part of this was the 80 year old lady argued for 5 minutes that her Ace High Flush beats a straight flush. She had one too many beers for her age!!!

To get it going a little early on the NFL since there probably won't be a thread, I'm leaning on Baltimore to end there skid tomorrow against Pittsburgh and the fact that they are only getting 3 makes it easier for me as that's a suspiciously small number. Bowl Season: ATS 6-7

 

Under .500 nothing to brag about, but after my 1-4 start, I'll take the baby steps. Just one game today:

 

Colorado +4.5 vs Alabama: The Buffs were up and down all season, basically because of their defensive lapses. They have big problems in pass defense, with small CB and not much of a pass rush. Their offense is a work in process, with Dan Hawkins slowly implementing more of the Boise system as the young players (including his son, the QB) can grasp it. They do have a very good RB in Hugh Charles, a speedster who will also run between the tackles.

 

Bama is a mystery. A couple really nice wins, a couple really horrific losses. QB Parker-Wilson doesn't seem to have improved much since last year, when he showed a lot of promise. The Tide has played pretty decent defense, which is what has kept with a chance to win in most games (9 decided by a TD or less).

 

There's a lot of pressure on Alabama to avoid their second consecutive losing season for the first time in nearly half a century. Colorado, on the other hand, comes in giddy to be bowling after a 2-10 season last year. I think the Buffs benefit more from the extra month of practice, and that Hawkins will pull out all the stops. 7 of the last 8 Independence Bowls have been decided by a TD or less, with 6 of those games by 4 or less. Colorado will travel well, with lots of fans in the stands.
