**Round Four & Five Draft Commentary**

Recommended Posts

I desparately wanted White to fall to me here in the 5th round. I have him rated above Turner, Brown, Jacobs, Jones, McFadden, Graham, Bush, and Parker, but felt he might be the one who would slide to me in 5. Close but know cigar. Here is a 300 carry back that will improve on last season. It was a great pick. It almsot worked, but I now wish I would have grabbed his 300+carries early in round 4.

We'll have to see what type of starting role JJ is able to carve out.

I agree on where you have him ranked, except for a few and felt the same way about him sliding.

White and FWP finished ranked 14 and 16 respectively for RBs last season in this scoring system, yet because of who their teams drafted they seem to be sliding a lot. There are a handful of other RBs that I feel can be grabbed in rounds 3 - 5 who will finish very close to those with a 2nd round ADP, which makes this season unique for me in that it's ok to get a stud QB and top WRs early then come back for your RBs

The last three picks are confirmation for me that I did the right thing in taking Jacobs at 4.01. If Young, White, or Jones had been around at 5.12, then I would have felt like I made a mistake. As is, I think I got a third running back (or second depending upon how Brown turns out) that I can feel good about.

I'm pleased with the way this round is shaking out so far.

29 backs are gone, or half of the picks thus far!!!

It's the June Mock.... it's what we do.

I was going to go with Evans here, and then grab Smith around the corner. With Evans gone, I went with Smith, as the Wr drop off seemed substantial, and one other reason i will expand upon in a few. I am hoping Smith wrestles this job away from a total nobody, and becomes the primary carrier for a team that is going to run first.

One thing's for sure . . . I would have done something differently around this end. I played thinking that I would get one of the QBs to drop in everyone's desire for the last "solid" RBs. I was wrong. *gasp* So I lost my target QB. Sighs. Oh, well. Plan C.

Same here......I should haev gone QB in the last round....water under the bridge as I arrived at pipck 6.05 looking at a bunch of QB's all on roughly the same level of whom I can certainly find later....so I went with the need and the player who can perhaps step in and surprise....

A very fine draft with no teams able to break from the pack. I particularly like these three so far.

Vikings4Ever

1.02 - RB Adrian Peterson, Min.

2.11 - WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Cin.

3.02 - WR Steve Smith, Car.

4.11 - RB Thomas Jones, NYJ

5.02 - QB Drew Brees, NO

--------------------------------------------------------------

I always seem to dig V4E's drafts. They seem well planned out. He always seems to sneak studs in at every position. AD and Jones are a nice pair of Rb's to compliment TJ Housh, and Steve Smith at Wr.. Then throw in the fact that he nailed down a top 4 Qb. This should be a relatively easy draft for him the rest of the way.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Paulinstl.

1.05 - RB Joseph Addai, Ind.

2.08 - QB Peyton Manning, Ind.

3.05 - RB Edgerrin James, Ari.

4.08 - TE Antonio Gates, SD

5.05 - WR Dwayne Bowe, KC

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This one will take more work to fill out, and likely he'll have to hit on a Wr or 2 to pull it off, but he has 2 300+touch backs, a Top Qb and a Top TE already. I really like Bowe, but it will be a little hard for him to amass #1 Wr numbers on KC. It will be kind of hard to build the Wr corp, but i would love to have his problem from here on out. Great start!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

JScott

1.08 - QB Tom Brady, NEP

2.05 - WR Braylon Edwards, Cle.

3.08 - RB Willie Parker, Pit.

4.05 - WR Roy Williams, Det.

5.08 - RB Lendale White, Ten.

6.05 - WR Roddy White, Atl.

---------------------------------------------------------

Great plan! You grab the best scorer on the planet, rope a dope on your first Rb selection, only to grab your 300+ plus carry guy 3 rounds later. In the mean time, you scoop up Edwards and Roy, who I still feel is the best wideout in detroit. I like the start, and it should be quite easy to fill in the remaining roster. Good work!
