Abortion Poll

Pro Life or Pro Choice?

79 members have voted

  1. 1. Forget all the rhetoric about the difference between the two and bring up all the definitions and what they truly mean...blah blah...blah. This is the poll. We all get the question. It really is pretty black and white. Pick one and lets see where the geeks stand.

I tend to think that abortion is totally a moral issue and I don't want the government telling me what's morally right or wrong...especially when both the Presidents in office and those that once ran for the office both cheat on their wives, have other children with other women, and then LIE about it. Yeah. YOU are going to tell ME what's morally right or wrong.

I think we've been over this argument a couple times in this thread. Just because something is moral doesn't preclude the government from having any say (else they'd have to stay away from other things like theft and murder that clearly have moral components).

And, to Voice of Reason, I generally agree with you, except in the case of the life of the mother. Late-term abortions to protect the mother's life aren't necessary. They're just an attempt by really hardcore pro-choicers to play on your emotions. The situations where an abortion could help the life of the mother is extremely early in pregnancy, before the baby has any shot outside of the womb. I believe that in this case, there are two human lives, and you're faced with the extremely tough choice of saving one and probably losing the other. In this case, I think abortion should be an option (for self-defense, or some such).

I see what you mean. Not this changes your figures too much, but that was each year and not just a one time deal. Still, it is a small percentage. However, obviously there are plenty of women who use it as birth control. Thanks for being patient with me on these issues bro. It's all good.

I'm not sure what you mean by, "Not this changes your figures too much..." I didn't present any figures to begin with, but perhaps I should have initially to bolster my point of view. I did, however, follow up and provide a set of statistics for you.

My belief is one needs to look at the "women use abortion as a form of birth control" issue in a big picture capacity in order to refute pro-lifers' assertions that this is one of the predominant reasons to outlaw birth control. They would have you believe this practice is obscenely rampant on a high percentage level.

Yes, when looking directly at a considerable number like 1,500, it's overwhelming and disheartening to digest. But the big picture viewpoint illustrates how this so-called abuse isn't epidemic for women of child bearing age who can freely exercise the option of having or aborting a baby.

It's on me if I didn't clarify this big picture component from the outset.

Only two options, went pro-life.

I have not and never will consider a stance on abortion as any relevence in choosing a candidate. It ranks in the neighborhood of "favorite toothpaste" and "red or blue tie" on the factors I don't give a fock about list.

I just think Roe v Wade was incorrectly decided. This truely seems to be a state by state decision.

Single issue voter here. Well, actually 2 issue. I won't vote for anyone who is in favor of murder=abortion or anyone who supports the flat tax.

Only two issues are important to you? I never thought I'd see the day where someone would admit that. :dunno:

You remind me of the Billy Bob's in East Texor who don't five a rat's a$$ about any other issue than teh gay doods not marrying.

Not the only 2 issues I care about, but the 2 issues that will exclusively keep me from voting for a candidate, at least the ones that are debated in the mainstream. I don't condone murder(abortion), and I don't want the super rich getting even richer(flat tax). It's as simple as that.

Well, at least your list has expanded to three exclusive issues.
