FeelingMN 273 Posted June 24, 2009 Wouldn't that cost like 40 trillion dollars. I know Uncle Sam could just put the printing presses on overdrive, but damn. Also, a cool million really isn't that much to live on for the next 40 years potentially. Nevermind the fact that you're gonna spend at least 15-20% on the home and car mandated in the deal. Plus folks wouldn't budget their cash right. They'd blow through it in like 6 years then try to get back into the workforce or go begging to Uncle Sam. Dumb idea. Dear Mr. President: Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan: There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the Following stipulations: 1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed. 2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered--Auto Industry fixed. 3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed. It can't get any easier than that! If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes... If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know. If not, please disregard. Much cleaner and easier to read...
Bigtraine 24 Posted June 24, 2009 My math might be focked up, but $1,000,000 * 40,000,000 people should be $40,000,000,000,000. That's $40 trillion dollars. That's... that's alot of money.

Just do what they are doing now, tax the rich more and more, spend it now and worry about it later...

remote controller 136 Posted June 24, 2009 If we want to sell cars, why don't we just allow our Car Insurance to be good on any one of our cars. Instead of having to carry insurance on all three, we should be able to carry one policy, bump it up some for multicar purposes, then watch us all go buy second and third vehicles.
