GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted December 27, 2009 wow, thanks for enlightening me. i was unaware. so, what exactly are you adding to this discussion? oh i know, less than pimp. good for you. yea, im not sure if he's the answer, but he's taking care of the ball much better, which was one of his weaknesses in the past. he's taking what defenses give him, vs. trying too much and turning the ball over. again, he has to get into the playoffs and win a game, period. remember, a lot of the guys on this board were saying Romo was done without TO................ i was cautiously optimistic about Roy Williams possibly being reborn as a Cowboy. um, aint gonna happen. after he dropped that 1st down late against NO, that would have sealed the game, forcing the Cowboys to punt................... he can still be a possession receiver, but he just isnt a #1, period. I have to give credit where it's due. Romo's not turning the ball over. He hasn't yet felt compelled to take the team on his back. The main reason is that the playcalling has given him enough of a running threat where he can spread the ball around. IMO, the the guy who's had the biggest impact on the offense is Felix Jones. He's not the greatest back, but he's enough of a threat to take it to the house, enough so where safeties have to respect the guy's speed. Where Dallas will fail will be with the coaching. Eventually, they will get out-coached at some point, in the playoffs, and Garrett will hit the panic button, and put a game squarely on Romo's back. Romo may succeed, but given his history, the likelihood of a few key turnovers is gonna happen. They have to get there first.

Sho Nuff 720 Posted December 28, 2009 i watch every Cowboys game. if you think for a second that Romo was to blame for the losses, you are crazy, or you aint watchin. i do understand you are repsonding to pimp, but i'm just telling like it is. So the offense 1-8 on 3rd downs in one of those losses was not at all on Romo? Is he all to blame? No...is he part of it? Yes.
itsbigmoni 1 Posted December 28, 2009 America's Team is such a horrible term for the Cowboys. How the hell are they America's Team? Half of the country hates them anyway. Plus we have our own teams to follow. You can have Tony Romo and your Cowboys. We all know they are not the best team in the NFL. They are americas team. There is no debate as to which franchise has the most fans. The cowboys have a ridiculous streak of road sell outs, i think its in the 70's. How many teams have 70 sell outs in a row at home? But since they are the most popular, they also have the most haters. Thats fine. Goes with the territory. I feel for cowboy haters. It sucks when you're a chargers fan and their huge win in a close game gets a 2 min recap and a cowboys loss where they never stood a chance gets a 5 min recap, followed by a discussion by the "analysts." As far as romo goes, he's a good QB. Haters keep saying he's not brady, montana, manning, etc. Umm, who the hell thinks he's in the same class as those guys? I'd put him below manning, brees, brady, rivers for sure, but after that you can make a case for many qbs. I'd put rodgers, schaub, romo, big ben, maybe eli, and i'm sure one or two others that i'm forgetting all in the same group. I would put mcnabb in front of all those guys. Found a link talking about the streak. The team’s national following might best be represented by its NFL record of consecutive games in front of sold-out stadiums. The Cowboys’ streak of 160 sold-out regular and post-season games began in 1990, and included 79 straight sellouts at their former home, Texas Stadium, and 81 straight sell-outs on the road. And as long as Roy Williams is on the field taking up a wr spot - we lay in danger. I also fear T. Newman - the guy is just not reliable and teams will throw and move the ball on him all day long. NY did it twice to us with S. Smith - not sure why more teams don't follow this pattern. Jenkins is solid, I mean damn near great - no need to throw to his side. Hopefully the solidification of the running game and a emergence of this defense will keep us from getting to the panic stage. but the potential is there, no denying that. dhockster 0 Posted December 28, 2009 Nice win for the Cowboys. Unlike prior seasons, Romo is stringing together some very good (turnover-free) games in December, rather than being up and down and turning the ball over in key moments. In addition, someone on the defense stepped up big (Ware and Spencer) which has not happened for the Cowboys in prior Decembers. IF Romo continues to play well and the Cowboys continue to get players to step up on defense, then they may be able to overcome their two biggest liabilities: Phillip's coaching and Folk's kicking. The fact that the Cowboys are still relying on Folk tells you what kind of a coach Phillips is. I think even Wade will figure out this week that Folk has to go. However, this is kind of like breaking someone's serve in Tennis. You haven't really broken serve until you hold your own serve in the next game. If Dallas loses to Washington then this Saints win doesn't really mean all that much. If Dallas beats the Redskins, then they have some nice momentum going into the division deciding game against the Eagles. I give the Cowboys credit for backing up their upset of the Saints with a solid performance against the Redskins. Yes, the Redskins offense has had major injuries and doesn't put much pressure on a defense, but still, the Cowboys got up in the first half and were never threatened. The Eagles game should be interesting. The key to the game will be if McNabb has time to throw, the Eagles should be able to move the ball through the air. If McNabb does not have time to throw, I don't see the Eagles being able to rely on their running game to move the ball. The Cowboys will get their points against the Eagles, because the Eagles haven't really been a shutdown defense all year. Another key will be for Romo not to force things as the Eagles can force turnovers. I really don't know who will win.

T.New does not look like the same guy. he also got dinged up last nite. the key ( as always) is to get pressure on mcnabb. looks like the eagles center got hurt. he gonna be out? Cruzer 1,995 Posted December 28, 2009 Any news on McNabb? I saw him come up a little bit limp on that last scramble agaist Denver. Prolly nothing, but he did hop and reach for the back of his leg.

Yes, Jamaal Jackson tore his ACL and is out for Sunday and the playoffs. I don't think McNabb's hamstring will be a problem.
