Captain Goomy Noomy Roo 50 Posted January 21, 2010 I am a native of Michigan in the burbs north of Detroit. Grew up hating on Brett Favre since he has long made a habit of beating the kitties. Anyway, I cannot deny it... Favre is fun to watch.... and he is playing out of his mind this year. (for any age!) I know, it is not all Favre... Minn has quite a team on all sides both lines, receivers, TE, even kicking doing well. It is time for these Purple Guys. And oh by the way... Brett Favre goes out with another ring and as arguably the greatest QB of all time! GO Vikings! I will not miss the Vikes/Saints tilt. This will be fun to watch even when Favre gets a little wierd with all of his ass slapping and "Pants on the Ground" sheet. My prediction: Vikings: 34 Saints: 24 Count It! I went to that St. Louis playoff game a ways back and would not be surprised to see Favre mess up when he gets behind. Saints by 20.

Seriously though, I hate the Rings = Greatness argument. Favre's legacy will be pretty much the same whether he wins another SB or doesn't. He's had a great career and deserves mention as one of the greatest to ever play the position. Just like I think Marino is arguably the top QB of all time, and has 0 championships....but that has more to do with the Miami teams he was a part of than his level of play. Football is the ultimate team sport....except when it comes to QBs...who get way too much credit when their teams win, and too much criticism when they lose. FeelingMN 273 Posted January 21, 2010 COME ON Guys... You gotta agree that it is arguable Men lie, Women lie, even my dog lies... but these numbers are hard to argue Favre - o- Meter No, the numbers don't lie. But they don't exactly tell the whole truth either. The fact is Favre played in a super friendly passing era. Offenses have been given a lot of advantage over the years with some of the rule changes. This has really benefitted the passing game....and the numbers bear that out. 2009 was the most prolific year ever for QBs....and that has more to do with DBs being handcuffed than the level of QB play ascending. Regardless of when he played, Favre is an icon...an all-time great....but I'll never say he's the best. For me, Manning/Montana/Marino set the standard....not so much because of physical talent/stats, but because of their football IQs.

gopkrs 0 Posted January 21, 2010 There are lies...damned lies...and statistics. And btw...Johnny U had to call his own plays (like Starr) and I have seen him throw a pass to Raymond Berry where Berry's toes were almost on the line...he was stretched out completely and about a foot off the ground...arms extended and ball right in the hands for about 12 yards. He could really throw it. But like some have already said, it is a more QB friendly game now and has always been heading that way.

gopkrs 0 Posted January 22, 2010 same rams team that went to the super bowl? the team fell behind and favre had to keep slinging it...you preferred gb stick with the run all game?... Yes, you are right, they had to throw. But not all the throws had to go to the Rams. Also, remember the Eagles and Giants. And there were plenty more where Favre make costly mistakes. Usually against good teams, but hey, that is who you have to beat. I was glad to have him and would not have it otherwise but I sure would have liked more than 1 superbowl. He really has made a lot of costly bonehead mistakes in his career. That said, he looks different to me this year. But we will see what happens when he gets behind. donhaas 18 Posted January 22, 2010 same rams team that went to the super bowl? the team fell behind and favre had to keep slinging it...you preferred gb stick with the run all game?... Oh... wow! They went to the Super Bowl??? Well, I guess that makes it OK!!!!!! 6 INT = 6 INT = 6 INT Considering you blast Aaron Rodgers for putting up 45 points, 425 yards and 5 TDs against a "team that went to the super bowl".... that makes your Favre fellatio even more hilarious.... Rodgers "had to throw" too But I saw a stellar game; not 6 INT I think the poster also mentioned that Favre ended two very strong Super Bowl runs with two very scared interceptions to Dawkins and the NYG defensive back.... Sho Nuff 720 Posted January 22, 2010 same rams team that went to the super bowl? the team fell behind and favre had to keep slinging it...you preferred gb stick with the run all game?... Ok...first off...how did they get down? Hmm...first 7 points scored was because of? An INT for a TD. 21 of the 45 points the Rams scored that day came off of INTs returned for TDs. There are a lot of games you can defend Favre's play...that is certainly not one of them.

Perennial Contender 18 Posted January 22, 2010 Montana was the greatest, especially in post season play. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Montana "He is widely considered one of the best quarterbacks of all-time." As in all sports it is a great debate. There were many great ones obviously, But Joe Cool gets my vote. Here is a list of the top 50, cool link. They have Brady 1st, Montana 2nd, and Favray 4th: http://armchairgm.wikia.com/Article:Top_50...cks_of_All-Time

I'm sorry but there is zero doubt packer fans are even worse claiming the Packers are going to be great in the foreseeable future because of Rodgers compared to how you talked about Favre and you were really ridiculous on him. Your rhetoric on him is worse than Lord Fav-re. Which is funny because I remember quite well when he was picked there was no excitement for him at all and the opinions ranged from at very best a value pick to what are they thinking? True most of you are not just outright saying he is better overall for his career right now. I give you that.

I feel good we have the most important position on the field filled with a guy who can do quite a bit. He had a great year...why would we not be excited about that? When he was picked...some wanted them to be going for it all then...though...I think the biggest suggestion was Matt Roth out of Iowa...who did absolutely nothing and not even sure if he is still in the league. I thought it was a value pick...a "need" pick in a way as they needed to start grooming a replacement as much as Favre discussed retiring. I don't think I have seen anyone saying he is outright better than Favre ever was. He has probably not yet even earned to be #3 all time for this team. Top 5 is probable...but still so early to say. I remember Roth too, and actually think that was the main guy I wanted. seems like Dallas had two picks sandwiching the Pack and one of them was Ware???? Did he go before. I still wonder what a player with Roth's ability would have done at antoher location. Seems there was a TE somewhere in the first few rounds that was getting attention.
