2010 NFL Draft Weekend Team Thread: Minnesota Vikings

Recommended Posts

Glad to see Gerhart land with the Vikings. A lot of people wondered if he had the speed to be a feature back, but it doesn't matter in Minnesota: he'll be the perfect change of pace monster to spell Peterson.

They could form one of the more brutal and dangerous RB tandems in a long time. Peterson and the Hammer. It's scary to contemplate.

Nice trade, Minni.

ETA: Leory Hoard Part Deux.

He brings much more to the table than Hoard.

I'm definitely not enough of a rabid fan to know who or what is available, but the Vikings don't need nearly the help at RB that they do on the line, at DT, and in the secondary... got to wonder a bit about that..

Oh, and supposeldy haynesworth is going for a fourth round pick... you'd think we could trade a 3rd rounder for him and get him... would be nice. He'd have to know that he's going to be sharing time with Williams for this season, but after that...

keeps getting better!

i had everson griffin rated as a low1-mid2 talent; i guess he dropped due to concerns of his motor and consistency. yet, this is agreat place to land behind all-pro jared allen and rising star ray edwards. as this guy fell down the board, i was screaming that he should be the next pick, and was incredulous the vikes were not scared off after being burned by kenechi udeze a few yrs ago [i still am angry they didnt pop will smith that yr!]

I'm guessing based on this draft that the Vikings will be gunning hard for McNabb this offseason...

They just signed Lito Sheppard and drafted Cook whom several other teams apparently wanted. They resigned Kennedy for depth whom played pretty good in stretches last season and werent in a position to draft a legitimate replacement for Hicks at any point. Then picked up a pass rusher whom was well worth a 4th round pick and a running back who will make a great tandem with Peterson who by all accounts would have been a first round pick if not for his skin color. Not exactly sure what you were really hoping for especially since they were in the 30 hole. They got 3 players who barring unforeseen oddities will contribute next season.

The one move I hoped they would make would have been giving up a pick for Kirk Morrison. Thought that would have been a worthwhile move with his pluses and minuses in Fraziers system.

I was hoping for help in the secondary, and offensive lineman, and the QB of the future. The RB pick isn't bad, and I understand the value of the defensive end, but they needed a tackle more than an end. I'd have rather dangled that 3rd round pick and Haynesworth than taking a RB... that's just me...

My only concern with the Vikings, more than QB future, more than corners, more than o-line...Fat Pat cannot play forever, how do you replace that dude?

Fat Pats do not come along too often.

And there was 1 or 2 this year that may be that kind of NT.

These kind of defenders you draft for more immediate need. And CB is more pressing.

Issue I have with Griffin, their first pick, is the NFL crew made it sound like we got a tweener (sb or S) and a situational corner.

Aside from hoping that a QB for the future could have been drafted with value (McCoy was drafted at good value point by Cle)

Would have wished the vikings would have drafted Myron Rolle instead of Joe Webb (a tweener QB listed as being likely moved to WR by NFL analysis)

This  This  or this ;)

My perception of this draft is much like the year they drafted Greenway, other than I don't know if they got anyone that good this year. Will have to see how the perform.

I have already stated my thoughts on Cook and Webb. Still hold true.

I believe they needed to have drafted a potential QB of the future. Favre may play another year. But you cannot count on much more than that. After that who will be the QB? Jackson hasn't shown the leadership to impress as being that guy.

I also believe they needed a shutdown Safety to go alone with a CB.

True they do have Mount Mckennie, but he is becoming more an issue as time goes. Recall his missing the pro bowl. truly classless. Had they drafted an OT replacement they may have the option to trade him away. As it is.
