Round 8 Commentary

Recommended Posts

After selecting Ward in the 6th round I was sitting on 1 back and 3 receivers. I was banking on a Wr run and it happened. 10 of the next 12 picks were other than RB. Landing Forsett and Reggie at this point in this ppr mock is 100-110 receptions right out of the box and Reggie averages 8 td's a season. Very pleased. I would have loved to have been in the position to take maclin where V4E did, but couldn't stray from my rb turn plan.

Foster and Knox was a nice corner for Jeepz. Foster was considered when I selected Forsett.

I was a little surprised by Forsett, but just a little. I agonized a bit over all of the thunder and lightening tandems still out there, but in the end it came down to Foster or Reggie. I like both offenses. I was really leaning towards Reggie in PPR, but then figured with Tate out, why not grab a guy that appears to have more of a hold on the regular touches. Hell, if he doesn't compliment my no-frills pick in Benson, I don't know who does.

Lots of good picks this round. I was hoping Foster would make it back to me, and I was seriously considering Knox with my last pick. Interesting pick ICEMAN, going with VJax. High risk/high reward pick there.

I went with Ronnie Brown MIA...where MIA stands for Missing In Action. Dude is perpetually gimpy.....but when healthy, he can put up RB2 numbers easy....something few, if any backs still available can say. I did consider 2 other backs with this pick but went with Brown because of his higher ceiling, history of producing when healthy, and a good O-line to run behind.

I waffled between Felix and Brown. Ronnie's knees must sound like potato chips by now, so I went with the younger guy who can't stay healthy.

I decided to go Bradshaw here. He looked good the other night and the man can run. He will be a solid back up behind turner and rice.

I thought their running game looked horrid! They might want to give Bradshaw more carries but they have it backwards and it didn'r work. They still need to punish the opposing line with Jacobs for the first series then bring in Bradshaw. The run game had no attitude the way they used it.

I agree. I was surprised at just how poorly the running game appeared. I expected Jacobs to perform much better in particular....

I wouldn't put too much stock in the 1st preseason game of the year. The Jints were missing a lot of their O-line/TEs....and the Jets are pretty good on defense.

I think the thing to key on is Bradshaw looked good on his catch and run....good speed and elusiveness. He's a very good RB3.....I like the pick.

Killing me with Bradshaw pick, thought he was going to make it back.

Had him last year and was solid as a flex, though foot problems did hinder him.

Even then thought he was best RB Giants had and the game last week was the worst thing that could have happened...he's already climbing up draft boards a bit. Still think he's going to great value, but now may have to pull trigger a little earlier.

Thoughts on TJ pick?

He's my 4th WR right now, but just feelings on him overall...the Hawks offense is kind of an enigma to me right now.

I tossed around a few players, as my list is less structured at this juncture. I haven't really nailed down this area for WR's and RB's, but that is rather normal for me at this time frame. I use the many mocks and other drafts in July and August to prime the list for the host of pay leagues I will play in, and develop three, and perhaps even as many as four or five, distinct strategies for each.

Meachem represents once such path and, to me, the beneficiary of constant double coverage on Colston, honoring the ability of Bush, and the ability of Bree's to quickly make adjustments and execute.

As a #4 WR on my team he would constantly challenge me to not start him, and if he plays well would be a super opportunity as trade bait (assuming my first 3 WR's are panning out)

I'm not slamming the back or the pick. All I'm saying is if they want to use Bradshaw more that is fine, but it sure doesn't have the same impact when Jacobs isn't the guy carrying to first 3 or 4 up the middle. I think Beadshaw will be fine, but better in the other role.
