Fight!

Recommended Posts

Oh so if AJ took out a gun and shot him, he should be suspended less because he won the fight, while Finn started it?

AJ should be suspended longer because he took 2-3 punches (MMA, knockout style) to Finn's head when Finn was defenseless down on the ground.

I'm also guessing you're an AJ owner.

No, because that would pretty clearly be a felony. You aren't helping your cause here with terrible scenarios.

AJ should be suspended, but Finnegan should be suspended longer for going immediately to his face, and throwing one quick jab BEFORE AJ swings him down and pounds him. You can't go at a guy, throw the first punch, and then punish the guy who was attacked just because he ended up winning the fight.

If Finnegan doesn't start ish, AJ would STILL be running routes and getting wide open on his ass. It's not his fault Finnegan came at him and can't fight.

Finnegan is a little biotch. Andre owns him. Finnegan did the only thing he is good at; he hit Andre with a cheap shot in the throat and face. Then Andre owned this little biotch again.

The most exciting moments in sports: fist fights in NFL, bench clearing brawls in baseball, and the ultimate triumph, basketball players running into the stands to fight the fans.

Bravo. :first:

I'm not disputing a lot of the things you say:

-Finnegan was the instigator, although I think Andre was just as ready to fight. But Finnegan didn't 'throw a punch'...more of an openhanded b!tch slap to the face mask of Johnson.

-Finnegan is a cheap shot artist, a guy who everyone would love to see get his @$$ beaten.

-Just like you, I enjoyed seeing him lose the fight.

But the NFL, and Roger Goodell is not going to care that Finnegan got what he deserved, or that Andre Johnson 'won' the fight when considering the punishments. Finnegan will surely get suspended. Partially because he had a major part in a serious, serious fight that may tarnish the league...and partially because of his history of being a repeat offender.

Andre Johnson wasn't blindsided by Finnegan at the start of the fight. They both essentially went right at eachother at the start of the play. Johnson got Finnegan's helmet off FIRST, and threw 3 haymakers at Finnegan's face..something that Finnegan didn't even do. When Finnegan got up after the cheapshots, he knew Andre had gone overboard, and actually knew better than to throw punches.

If you really think Finnegan was more the aggressor, or did more in that fight than Andre did, then your opinion is worthless.

But it goes back to High School rules. Even if you are defending yourself in a fight both you and the other guy will be disciplined. It's just the way it is. As least we (the nation) all got to see Finnegan get his arse handed to him over and over again.

Mike Ditka said Johnson should be "applauded" for beating down a "cheap shot" artist on ESPN2's Mike and Mikeshow Monday morning. "Where does it say if a snake bites you, you can't step on a snake?" asked Ditka.

Tony Dungy said on NBC's Pro Football Night in America Sunday he used to warn Colts players about keeping their cool when playing Finnegan.

NBC's Rodney Harrison said of the Titans, "they're dirty, they're cheap."

So throwing 3 haymakers at a defenseless, helmet-less person is defending yourself?

Look, I think we can all agree that we thoroughly enjoyed watching Finnegan get his @$$ beat...but think about it from Goodell's point of view. A player just got his @$$ beat! Literally, helmet off, face down on the ground, took 2 or 3 haymakers from another player. It doesn't matter that Finnegan started it. Finnegan started a scuffle - something you see in almost every game. When's the last time you've seen fists flying at a defense-less, helmet-less player in a football game.

I didn't read the first page of this thread. Exactly what's your point?

Look, the league can't have folks ripping off helments and outright brawling like that. I understand it and Andre will more than likely be suspended one game. You have to set a precedent. I'm okay with it.

But we can stop with the "defenseless" nonsense. Finnegan forfieted that excuse the minute he went straight for the face/troat. He got what he deserved. You mess with the bull, don't complain when you get the horns.

I really don't see where this "fight" was that big of deal. The entire incident from the snap of the ball only lasted 7 seconds....and the "play" consumed at least half that time. In my mind, that is hardly enough to call a fight. Yes, it was action packed and the helmet tossing added some flavor but...suspensions....really?

The NFL plays a short schedule and one game means a heck of a lot compared to other sports. It is the equivalent of 5 NBA games or 10 MLB games.

However, a hefty fine for both players is warranted.

Andre Johnson Will Not Be Suspended

HOUSTON - FOX 26 Sports has learned Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson will be fined for his actions Sunday involving Tennessee Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan, but Johnson will not be suspended.

It is not known what further punishment will be handed down to Finnegan.

Huge news for the Texans because that means their All-Pro receiver will be able to play when Houston takes on the Eagles Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Any further disciplinary action for Johnson and Finnegan will stem from their altercation in the fourth quarter of the Texans 20-0 victory at Reliant Stadium.

Both players were ejected from the game.

Finnegan initiated the fight when he hit Johnson in the facemask seconds after the ball was snapped. Johnson retaliated and both players ripped each other's helmets off.

Johnson would land several punches before the referees intervened.

Multiple sources told FOX 26 Sports prior to the fight Finnegan looked at the Texans sidelines and said, "watch this."

Gregg Rosenthal of NBC Sports is "hearing" that Titans CB Cortland Finnegan will not be suspended for his role in Sunday's on-field brawl with Andre Johnson.

Coach Jeff Fisher told reporters Monday that the Titans expect to hear about Finnegan's status by Tuesday. Finnegan did not throw any punches, but his history as a multiple offender of the league's on-field conduct policies won't help him. He's still more likely to face a hefty fine than a one-game ban.

Neither gets suspended??!!!!! haha...i dont really care as im not a fan of either team and dont dislike either player....but if ripping off helmets and throwing landing punches DOESNT get you suspended? What exactly does? If that doesnt get you suspended.....then nothing gets you suspended.

Supposedly, tackling a guy too hard might.
